There's an art to tender fried gizzards, something to do with parboiling them first. Hartz's gizzards are good, but not quite tender enough.

Person A brings food out to waiting car (touches door handles) then goes back to make food. Person A helps at the counter again but this times complete the order by taking cash payment and giving cash change to customer then goes back to making food. Here's the problem Person A touches every single thing in the store with the same blue latex gloves, handles money Not once does he change gloves or wash his hands but still handle food. I don't like seeing it but it happens a lot in fast food places. Having gloves on is even worse than not having gloves on because they will not wash their hands because their hands don't feel dirty. They won't change it because management probably won't allow it due to costs. Person A is multitasking (probably shift manager) but if he's going to handle food then he must wash his hands or change gloves. Anyhoo I ordered a whataburger jr, 2 patty melt, chicken strip meals and 2 apple pies. My burger was good (for some reason they left out the onions). The French fries were fresh but I think they pulled it a little early cause it didn't have that golden color. Wait wasn't too long. Just watching person A makes me not want to come in the dining room. I'm just going to order from the drive thru so I don't see these kind of unsanitary practices.

Dot holds a bit of a nostalgic throwback to the diners of the 50's & 60's…read more With plenty of parking located behind the building arrived at about 10AM and place was buzzing. Thankfully, Mark was there and initially was told a 35 minute wait but seemed intent by quicker. Ambiance: 4/5 It was breakfast time so of course it was a busy time. For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

If they had dried fruit in the chicken batter, it'd be Raisin Cane's. If the DEA busted the place for drug activity, it'd be Raiding Cane's. And if the entire restaurant spontaneously orgasmed, it'd be Raising Came. This is clearly one of my favorite Raising Cane's locations for the simple reason that the service here is wonderful from several of the people here. They give me extra chicken, they treat me like a regular and someone that they really like, and I definitely feel the love. I didn't have the bad experiences of the other locations that I've been to around here, and I didn't have the bad experiences of the other reviewers either. Although I do have to say that there have been a few iffy experiences with a couple of people that probably shouldn't be working here, but that happens at every fast food and altogether we were just very very happy with the experience here on several occasions. I even got recognized here from Yelp which is funny because that never happened on this side of town and never happened at a Raising Cane's before.

I had the fettuccine alfredo fried and I still cannot believe how good they were. The fries were not soggy and yet ere incorporated into the cheese, with plenty of chicken as well.
