Bought a gallon of Clear conversion varnish. This is a $159 a gallon product. Ended up not needing it. Unopened and unused(stillin the box they shipped it in) and they dont take returns. We have purchased lvt flooring from Hartville Hardware within 6 months it started to come apart. At the time I was a carpenter for over 30 years and installed it myself. When I called them they sent out a guy with a 4 foot level to check my floor he said it was a 1/16 off in one spot. Since I built the house I said there isn't a house built that is purfully level. Called Hartville Hardware back and they said they would look into it that was 6 years ago. Don't waste your time or money go some place else. read more

Great variety! I had been hearing how great this place was for years. I was finally able to pop in for a short visit. They have such a huge selection of items for your home. Loved the mini houses in the back. Huge selection of lighting fixtures, clothing, kids section. They have a whole section downstairs that we didn't even get to view. I went to the Hardware for window replacement because I thought they would do a great job and guarantee it, well I was wrong. They put in 6 windows; they caulked the outside on only 2 of the six windows, the Sash was the wrong size, so they don't hang over a 1/2" over the trim like most do and the ends of the sash where too long. I called them, they said they would take care of it, they came out Caulked the windows, cut the ends down, but they left with no solution of fixing the Sash not coming out from the trim. When I first called, they said they would fix everything they didn't, when I called back, he said he needed to discuss with the manager. They never returned a call and left it as it is. I truly value a lot of the people that work at Hartville Hardware, but their lawn mower repair service did not offer a good experience. After I had them evaluate my zero turn mower for repair, it was determined that it was unfixable. With the value of my mower being well above the $86 inspection fee, I was told that they'd just take my mower and waive the fee, which I appreciated. Several weeks later I received a call and was told rather tersely that I was overdue on paying my bill and they needed me to pay right away. I was confused and payed, but I can say I won't be going back there for service. I would avoid using them if you want timely or honest service. read more

My husband and I have ordered many appliances from Hartville and have never had an issue. If a problem did arise, they were prompt in returning phone calls and having an issue fixed. This review is geared towards the service we've received with issues arising with our carpet. The initial process was great and we had no complaints. We were told the padding would be like walking on a memory foam. Once the carpet was installed, it did not take long to realize the padding was not what we were told it would be like. We would go to other individuals homes and their padding was way better from other places than what we received. We also started to have our carpet have a crunchy sound as if we were walking on plastic bags. I called in mid-February and still have yet to have this resolved. We have officially passed the two year installation warranty mark and are hoping they still work with us as this issue was started prior to the two year mark. I recommend Hartville for appliances but will be looking elsewhere for flooring from now on. read more

We had a not so good experience at their restaurant. You may refer to that review. We didn't feel like we wanted to continue our day in Hartville. We are so happy we went into the hardware store. Within an hour we were back on track and so happy we decided to go in. Before you walk into the hardware store they have all sorts of barbecue grills, I think they even had a pizza oven. When you walk through the doors and turn right, you will find everything you need for outdoor entertaining. Furniture, accessories for the outdoors and more. After that you will find the kitchen appliances. They have name brand high quality appliances like Sub Zero, Wolf, Cafe and KitchenAid. Everything was laid out so nice. The next section they actually have model homes with bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and more. They had this great space for pets with a pet bath tub an area to keep the safe and cozy. Their own little space to romp around in. It was so nice to be transported into dreamland, ideas and fun on how to design your own space. I asked the lady if they actually build the home's shown. (They had literature about the home, it's contents and square footage). She said no but you can purchase the plans. They have so many choices when it comes to flooring, carpet etc. The only thing that kept me from giving this store a 5 star rating is that they charge $100 to get a design and quote for kitchen cabinets. They do refund your money if you go with them. Although I do understand their logic, it's still a service many kitchen design stores offer. They should win the business on their advise, customer service and price. When we started searching for a palm sander we found this nice gentleman. He went above and beyond to help us find what we needed. Once he was done he would go help someone else. He came up to us a few times more as we had to look for accessories for the items we were purchasing. Great experience!! The young guy at the paint counter was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!! I was able to give him an idea of what I wanted to do and he helped me put everything together. He helped me get the right primer, paint, brushes and everything else we needed. I received more help from him than any of the times I've walked into the other two competitors these past few weeks. I know we easily spent well over two hours here and we still did not see the entire store. They have an entire downstairs full of stuff. I peeked and they had windows and doors. I can't wait to visit this place again for our next project. Or just when I need some designer inspiration. read more

Was in today 12/26/24. Got a gift card for Xmas and wanted to use it to purchase a Milwaukee tool kit. Stood in the isle for 20min waiting on an employee to help. Finally walked to one of the computers on an endcap and to older men where talking leaning up against the desk. I said hello I need a combo kit and before I could finish the older heavier set guy said I'm helping a customer right now you will have to wait. Then goes back to talking to the other employee no other customer in sight. I then proceed to wait another 25mins! And walk over again and same guy is just standing there and says oh do you still need help. I said yes the only reason I still purchased the tool kit is because of the gift card and it's sad I live across the street from this place and honestly from now on I'll probably drive to Lowe's or Home Depot. And at the end of the day I know this place won't care at all but I figured I'd let people know how your treated there also everything they sell is way more expensive than other places. read more

Get the roast beef, get a chocolate shake, get a rhubarb pie. But if you're into hardware (I'm not, but even I was impressed), then check out this vast and magnificent Amish hardware store. The prices are roughly 50% less than your Home Depot and your Loews. It's brilliant. The people working here know their stuff - they don't hire anyone who doesn't. They are real professionals and they have everything you'll need for half the price you'll pay at the big chains. It's worth driving out of your way to check it out if you're into DIY. I want to revise my review with a shout out to Hartville Hardware's employee, Steve. Turns out my chair finally arrived, after I cancelled it. The vendor has been terminated at H.H., and Steve resold us the chair and the cushion for the original price. I had looked for replacement chairs but when you wait 7 months on a chair it takes a certain obsessiveness- I could not get over it. Wow! I've never seen anything like this store. There is a house built in the store with different styles for each room so you can see how you would like to decorate your own house. It's now Christmas and the front of the store has all kinds of decorations to purchase. You can get any of the ornaments personalized. They have great stocking stuffers and cute Knick knacks. Love the kitchen section the best (love me some kitchen gadgets). Definitely worth the visit even if you don't live nearby. read more

I'll never buy an appliance anywhere else. We bought an induction stove, and are so happy we got it here. First of all, our salesman Carl was amazing. He's sooo good at his job. Helpful, knowledgeable, but not pushy in the least bit. We went to the other big box stores, and Hartville blew them all out of the water. Salesman that acted like they were doing us a favor by answering questions. Salesman that wouldn't even look at us. Salesman that knew less about the stoves than I did after 10 mins of research. Not here. Hartville offered us a $100 rebate that none of the other stores had. On top of that, the warranty at Hartville was 1/3 the cost, $200 less than the big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. They also work on the appliance themselves. I loved the old store and new store but two visits have now turned me off. A few months ago in electrical and gardening I ran into two wise guys. The electrical guy was either trying to be funny concerning a wall switch timer or sarcastic. I didn't appreciate it since my question was serious and my time is valuable. Same day I'm walking through gardening and three employees (2 female & one male all over 50) are having a nice chit chat. I didn't have a question, I was merely walking to my known destination. The male, trying to amuse the ladies, blurts out - "Here's a guy who looks lost." Really, I looked lost? I stared at him with the "hairy eyeball" and moved on. My main purpose traveling 45 minutes to Hartville Hardware is for Benjamin Moore paint. Most who work in the paint department are very, very good. Even the younger blonde unless you want a previously mixed paint color changed and you had it done before. She insisted it wouldn't work and she ruined the gallon of $50+ paint and told me, "See, I told you it wouldn't work." UGH! If you you feel doomed at the outset than you're doomed. So I'm done with Hartville Hardware. I discovered, by accident, a Benjamin Moore paint store in a nearby small town. It's like going back in time and they'll now get my considerable Ben Moore business. Employee actions are a reflection upon the businesses they work for. Owners should recognize this and act accordingly. I purchase high end appliances and many, many tools and materials. HH lost all that as well. They're not the only game in town....or elsewhere!! One last thing which is starting to take hold at many businesses. I'm all for service dogs but not people bringing in their pets in general. Many people are afraid of dogs, allergic to cats and in my case I find it thoroughly annoying. Folks, KEEP YOUR PETS AT HOME!! I've seen this at other big box stores, even a grocery. Are you kidding me!! I was told as long as they're leashed its OK! When I came into Hartville Hardware heading to the paint department with a shopping cart I had to ask a pet owner to reel in his very large Golden Retriever which was about 10 feet traversing the aisle. He had a harness on and the owners leash was on one of those auto-winding systems. The owner calls to the pet to come back. Go outside fool!! Larger selection than what you'll find at other hardware or home stores. Their row homes inside the store show different exterior options while inside there are many different kitchen displays. They have so much of everything, you have to check it out. You won't be disappointed. For men that are into power tools, they have a huge selection of brands and types of tools you won't find at Home Depot or Lowes. Very high quality tools. Also lots of really big power tools that sit on the floor and are not hand held. They do have a big tool sale twice per year with vendors demonstrating the use of a lot of these tools. It's very impressive. If you have a male significant other that likes tools, he could spend hours in the tool area while you shop elsewhere! read more

When making a purchase my wife will ask the cashier if their store honors a military discount. The cashier at this store did not know, but asked a lady who I assumed was a store manager. In a loud and emphatic tone was a one word answer, NO! The discount did not matter to us, like I stated, my wife will inquire, but it was about the tone and demeanor of the answer that took my wife and I aback. All other establishments we have shopped at will politely reply, sorry, but no we don't. If it was the Vietnam Veteran hat or the the Navy and Marine Corps logo on my shirt, I will not apologize. They have a much larger selection of appliances with higher end models than the chain stores. If you're remodeling or building a home, they have a huge kitchen display with life-size full kitchen displays. You will see kitchen after kitchen after kitchen, so you can get a real good idea of what different cabinet and granite combinations look like as well as styles, whether you're into more traditional ornate or contemporary, they have lots of displays. They also have a house display in their store with different rooms to give you ideas. This place is huge and has everything you need for a house, and the even sell tractors and equipment. I am not sure what happened in the passed couple years , but yesterday I felt like a huge inconvenience while in there. I got a price from Hartville and keim lumber was 2,000.00 less!!!! Hartville has price matching and will match another stores price. I'm adding 3 more provia doors. Do not go to this store. Absolutely and completely horrible store they let anyone walk around without masks. They had signs on the door telling customers to wear masks but do absolutely nothing when people walk around without them. I asked an employee why and they told me "oh the signs about needing a mask was only put up so they look good and in fact the don't think you need to wear mask at all". Very bad stay away. read more
