I wanted to give military style dog tags with a custom design to my son as a present for being my best man in my wedding. I searched all over the place to get them engraved. I started out going to Things Remembered in the mall (Seemed a good place to start since that's what they do) but was greatly disappointed. They wanted to charge me set up fees of $50 for each dog tag. Then engraving would be extra. The process was going to take as much as 3 weeks. After some searching I found Hartt Engraving. I was told to email the digital artwork prior to getting there so he could take a look at it and let me know if there were going to be any problems. I delivered the dog tags at 8:30 am and asked if I could get it by end of day because I needed to leave town for my wedding. He said he would do his best and I received an email at 4:30 pm saying they were done. The dog tags looked exquisite! Oh yeah, and they only cost me $25 which was a far cry from $100+. read more

What a NIGHTMARE. I brought silverware to Kevin approximate 3 weeks before Christmas. He told me that it would be done within about a week to engrave 1 initial per piece, this was a gift for my family. After 6 weeks and at least 5 phone calls later, I was told it would be ready on the Jan 10. I arrived and he said that the engraving machine was broken. I grabbed my unopened silverware and left. I bought a watch case that had a clear glass on top and wanted to get it engraved. I called a few places and for three letter initials in the middle and a short quote at the bottom they quoted me $30+. My sister told me about Kevin and said he had engraved a knife for her a few months back and she was very happy with his work so I decided to give him a try. I called him on a Wed and he told me I could drop off the bow same day, when I got there he was very friendly and quick, told me he would email me with a picture of how it will look. I had requested to complete the project by 2 days, which was a bit demanding but Kevin was completely accommodating about it. I got an email later that evening and was happy with the picture so I okayed it. He then sent me another email the next day in the afternoon stating it was done and I could pick it up. I called him around 5 and asked if I could drop by to pick it up, knowing that he closes at that time but he was nice about it and told me to come by. I had two sterling silver bracelets engraved here, and was very pleased with the results and the great price ($20), compared to jewelers. It was a really great turnaround time, just one day. And that's a few days before Christmas! A few tips: * This business is run out of Kevin's garage, so make sure to call in advance and be prepared for that. I initially thought I was going to a store, so became concerned when I first pulled up there and saw a house in a suburban neighborhood. It was fine in the end, but for a single woman, I was initially concerned. If I had been prepared by that detail in the website or Yelp reviews, I would not have been surprised and felt uncomfortable. * Pick out a font ahead of time. My pieces turned out beautifully, but I felt under pressure to quickly pick out a font on his computer as he felt that a cursive font would not work very well on such a small bracelet, and didn't realize I would not have a sheet of fonts to choose from. It would have been much better if I had calmly chosen a font at home from Word, though he uses Corel. * He only takes cash or check! Besides that, this was a really great experience. Fast, fairly priced, and well done. I would use him again! read more
