Pet Pilgrimmage - Buddy's remain, paw print, photo, collar, & angel

But I was able to find Pet Pilgrimage. From the moment I called to speak with Becky my heart was a bit lighter that he was going to be taken care of the way would have. Our Buddy declined quickly and we had to make the difficult decision to have put to sleep on the Friday after Thanksgiving, 2022. Our appointment at the vet was not until 4:30pm but the folks at Pet Pilgrimage were so accommodating. Our vet had put Buddy in a box for us which we hand delivered to Pet Pilgrimage. I wanted to make sure Buddy was wrapped in his favorite blanket he had since he was a puppy, his favorite toy nestled in his arms and pictures of our family with him. When we dropped him off Lisa told us to take our time saying good bye. We spent some final moments with our little guy. I was able to cover him up, give him his Lamby, and kiss his sweet face. Lisa set our expectations to say I would receive a call first thing Monday morning to pick him up. With it being holiday I completely understood that it would take longer than the estimated 48 hours. Due to my own impatience of wanting Buddy home I called around 9:45am on Monday. Becky said I was going to be her first call at 10 - because she wanted me to have time to wake up before getting the news Buddy was ready and not open up a raw nerve. Thoughtful beyond words! I loved how she referred to him as my baby - because he is my baby... When we picked him up we were given a beautiful bag - and the living tree urn with Buddy's remains. The paw prints were perfect. What I realize now and I didn't at the time - was how anxious I was to get Buddy home. The folks at Pet Pilgrimage understood that for me. This was well worth the money we spent - it was the perfect was to honor Buddy and we are so blessed to found these folks - they truly are doing a wonderful act for people. Thank you all!

When this happens at home it's so sad, hard to think, your emotional and sad it's hard to make arrangements on weekends. We had to come share our experience with cremation it was beyond professional, compassionate, they treated us and our beautiful baby like we were the most important people in the world. We found Pet Pilgrimage located in Mooresville. It is located behind Cavin-Cook Funeral home building they have Pet Pilgrimage onsite. They are located in the far rear left of the parking lot behind the funeral home. This was by far one of the best decisions we've ever made. We did not want to use a commercial "pet crematory". We wanted a use a locally owned, compassionate company and wanted to support local business. Cavin-Cook.com was incredible. The prices that are posted are exactly what you will pay. Unless you add on other items. They are no pressure upsellers!!!!! We officially love these people, we were so grateful for them being open on a Sunday. Our baby is now back home in less than 24 hours after she was taken out of our arms. 5 all the way Top notch compassion and very comforting! Beautiful private rooms to stay with your baby as long as you need. They do not rush you at all. They are very patient, informative, and caring. We asked for a heart to be cut from her blanket they did it without a problem. Her remains and presentation returned to us was the most beautiful thing I've seen. https://petpilgrimage.com/ We chose the Remembrance Cremation Collection $240 PRIVATE CREMATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: *A wood or biodegradable urn *24 Hour personal assistance *A comforting environment for final goodbyes and memorial services *Imprint of your pet's paw set in ceramic clay *Keepsake fur clipping *Remembrance wildflower seeds *Rainbow Bridge bookmark *Digital images of your pet's nose and paw print archived at Pet Pilgrimage for memorial keepsake items *Online pet memorial *Cremation certificate *Your pet is returned to you within 48 hours Whatever you do don't use GPS for pet pilgrimage use GPS address for Cavin-Cook Funeral home. Drive straight back behind all the buildings it's in the back left corner.

Fortunately, I happened to connect with Sam, from Pet Passages, after working with Dr. LaVergne (from Home With You) in the process. Sam coordinated directly with Dr LaVergne on the appropriate timing to show up to my house, shortly after Bruno had been euthanized, and Sam entered the scene as an extremely compassionate and professional person. He downplayed the 'transactional' nature of the job and focused primarily on putting my mind at ease and treating Bruno's body with dignity. When he came to the house, he had a purple blanket with him, and explained to me that purple was the color of royalty, and that's how Bruno would be treated by the folks at Pet Passages. We wrapped Bruno in the purple blanket and he allowed me to help carry him out to the transport van. A minor detail, but the van itself was clean, professionally marked, and climate controlled--just the small things that put me at ease during all of this. Within 48 hours Sam brought Bruno home to me, in a custom wooden urn/box (see the photos)--he hand-delivered the box, and again was extremely professional and compassionate. All in all, working with Sam during such a tough time was a blessing and I'll forever be appreciative for his exceptional handling and care of Bruno.

His quality of life was starting to slip slightly and on his bad days or nights, he'd have some pretty significant 'bleeding from the nose' episodes. Once the specialists diagnosed the issue, and told me that it would be be wise to 'make arrangements' for him, I scoured the internet for a compassionate, experienced, person who would come to the house and make his passing as painless and pleasant for him, as possible. I'm so fortunate that I stumbled across Dr. LaVergne. Her compassion and commitment for her job are evident from the moment we first interacted via email and phone. She was willing to move mountains in her own schedule if I said that Bruno was deteriorating rapidly (which fortunately was not the case, so we scheduled 3-4 days out, but her willingness to broach the topic speaks volumes to the kind of person and professional that she is). We set an appointment for May 1 and she gave me ideas on how to spend our last few days together, as well as the types of food that Bruno might enjoy while she put him to sleep. I could share a pretty extensive play-by-play of how the hour went--but I'll spare everyone the details, and maybe save myself a few tissues in the process too! Dr LaVergne is a very special person. If you are at the juncture where you've got to make this very difficult decision, do yourself a favor and choose Dr LaVergne. The days leading up to Bruno's passing were brutal, but I will always look back on his actual passing as such a peaceful, spiritual experience--thanks in large part to Dr LaVergne. Bruno was a special pup--most folks assured me after he passed that he was so lucky, because "you gave him such a great life"--ironically, the opposite was true. I was definitely the lucky one.

I was determined to act as usual so the dogs would not sense anything to upset them, hoping the veterinarian in charge of euthanasia thought the same way. Dr LaVergne met my expectations and beyond. She was so kind and gentle that after greeting her, Sammy and Baron lay down and dozed while we talked. She spent time talking with me and made sure I was ready before proceeding with the medication. In a few minutes, they peacefully stopped breathing. She spent time afterwards also. Nothing felt rushed. I had called a few of the pet "hospice" companies but the appointments are made at a main office somewhere... You will not meet or talk to the vet until they arrive, etc. On the other hand, Dr Lavergne is accessible by phone and text. In addition she has certifications beyond the standard CAETA (Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy) which speaks of her dedication and professionalism. I am so grateful to her and Pet Passages Crematory services which I will review separately.
