Losing our Buddy was losing a family member. I wanted to give Buddy the send off he deserved. There are not a whole lot of options in the metro Charlotte area. But I was able to find Pet Pilgrimage. From the moment I called to speak with Becky my heart was a bit lighter that he was going to be taken care of the way would have. Our Buddy declined quickly and we had to make the difficult decision to have put to sleep on the Friday after Thanksgiving, 2022. Our appointment at the vet was not until 4:30pm but the folks at Pet Pilgrimage were so accommodating. Our vet had put Buddy in a box for us which we hand delivered to Pet Pilgrimage. I wanted to make sure Buddy was wrapped in his favorite blanket he had since he was a puppy, his favorite toy nestled in his arms and pictures of our family with him. When we dropped him off Lisa told us to take our time saying good bye. We spent some final moments with our little guy. I was able to cover him up, give him his Lamby, and kiss his sweet face. Lisa set our expectations to say I would receive a call first thing Monday morning to pick him up. With it being holiday I completely understood that it would take longer than the estimated 48 hours. Due to my own impatience of wanting Buddy home I called around 9:45am on Monday. Becky said I was going to be her first call at 10 - because she wanted me to have time to wake up before getting the news Buddy was ready and not open up a raw nerve. Thoughtful beyond words! I loved how she referred to him as my baby - because he is my baby... When we picked him up we were given a beautiful bag - and the living tree urn with Buddy's remains. The paw prints were perfect. What I realize now and I didn't at the time - was how anxious I was to get Buddy home. The folks at Pet Pilgrimage understood that for me. I used this company when we lost our sweet girl a couple months ago. They were absolutely wonderful. Extremely professional. They came late at night after she passed lifted her out of my bed with me. Had a beautiful blanket they covered her in put the note my kids wrote in her arms and her favorite toy. The folks at Pet Pilgrimage handled a very sad and difficult situation with empathy and grace when I had to say goodbye to my sweet Sadie. I was beyond grateful that they came to the house to transport her body as it would have been agonizing to do so ourselves. This is a very sensitive well-managed and caring facility. I've had three interactions with this establishment which shares a crematorium, parking lot and ownership with a human funeral home. The apply the lessons, techniques and professionalism garnered at the human facility to the one for pet family members. The first time they came to the house to pick up our wonderful Klondike at our home where she died peacefully the night before. They were considerate on the phone and when they came to our house to pick her up. They put her on a gurney and allowed me to say goodbye before they put a blanket on her and wheeled her to the pet hearse. They were very empathetic and gentle. I got a call a couple days later that she was ready and I drove to their facility and at first couldn't find the office. It was behind the funeral home in a separate building adjacent to the crematorium. A little better signage towards the front entrance would have been helpful. It's a nice facility and you are ushered into a private area to accept delivery of the ashes which come in a nice wooded box. There are all sorts of upgrades available as well as paw prints and mementos but there are no pressure or sales pressure deployed. My second interaction was when Monchie had to be put down after months of cancer. This time they came to the vets to pick her up. We were still saying goodbye to her and they waited in the lobby until we were done but still it was a little disconcerting to hear their laughter. I'm sure they didn't realize how loud they were but still.. And again, the service and sensitivity displayed at pick up was extraordinary. They even invited me to s grief group although I opted out. My most recent visit was with one of our current dogs when I wanted to pick up a couple products. It was nice coming on a happy visit. They liked it too after dealing with the departed most all the time. They took great care of us and even gave Rowdy water and s biscuit! read more

On August 12th we had to make the tough decision to put our beloved Labpei Buddy to sleep and end his battle with cancer. We called and spoke with Leslie to make the pre- arrangements and I'm so glad we did. From our first conversation with Leslie, she made Buddy the center of attention, asking questions about him and explaining how the process would work. She told us Buddy would be well taken care of and did everything to put our minds at ease and to show how Buddy was to be taken care of was as important to them as it was to us. The next day Leslie called to check on us and to see how we were doing and to let us know Buddy was ready to be brought back home. To make it easier on us even though it was not opened yet, Leslie met my wife at the their satellite office here in Denver which is less than one half mile from our house to return Buddy to us. Buddy was returned to us in a beautiful box with a small baggie of his fur and plaster cast of his paw print. Also included was a sympathy card with kind words and letting us know they were there for us if we needed anything else. This morning @ around 12:30am I loss my beloved Cee Cee Sweets to cancer. She will be extremely missed. She was going on 11yrs old and lived longer than expected. That's what love and attention can do. I was very careful about where to go to have her put to rest. Last year we suddenly lost our beloved pet Smokey, a young 7 year old Lhasa Apso. It was the most devastating loss for our family.
