Fortunately, I happened to connect with Sam, from Pet Passages, after working with Dr. LaVergne (from Home With You) in the process. Sam coordinated directly with Dr LaVergne on the appropriate timing to show up to my house, shortly after Bruno had been euthanized, and Sam entered the scene as an extremely compassionate and professional person. He downplayed the 'transactional' nature of the job and focused primarily on putting my mind at ease and treating Bruno's body with dignity. When he came to the house, he had a purple blanket with him, and explained to me that purple was the color of royalty, and that's how Bruno would be treated by the folks at Pet Passages. We wrapped Bruno in the purple blanket and he allowed me to help carry him out to the transport van. A minor detail, but the van itself was clean, professionally marked, and climate controlled--just the small things that put me at ease during all of this. Within 48 hours Sam brought Bruno home to me, in a custom wooden urn/box (see the photos)--he hand-delivered the box, and again was extremely professional and compassionate. All in all, working with Sam during such a tough time was a blessing and I'll forever be appreciative for his exceptional handling and care of Bruno.

After voraciously hunting online for the right holistic practitioner, comparing reviews, types of treatment, and credentials, I found Lori. She got straight down to business, instructing both his dietary and supplemental regime, and I wasted no time in following suit. Fast forward 3 months after his echocardiogram at his follow-up of the same, his Cardiologist was so impressed that she actually signed off on all his heart supplements that Lori advised. The swelling had gone down, his heart murmur was steady (no decline), and all she had to say was, "Whatever diet you have him on, whatever you're doing, keep it up." Fingal is now 11 years old, and people are always commenting on how healthy and young he looks and seems. With her background in western medical field, Lori has respect for veterinarians and is willing to work alongside them, and yet, thanks to her comprehensive study and openness to learning everything she can to keep our babies alive, she won't hesitate to offer alternative ways of treating that will, without the side effects often associated with western medications, lengthen their lives. She also keeps meticulous notes. If you forget something, trust me, she has it written in a file. I trust her completely with my little guy's life. Literally.

I brought Meatball in on August 24 because he had been sick, wasn't eating well, and I suspected an infection. He was admittedly extremely thin and weak. What disturbed me was what happened next. Before bloodwork was performed, I was told that Meatball was terminally ill, that there was essentially nothing I could do for him, and that he would likely die within a matter of days. Euthanasia was discussed because of his condition and expected prognosis. I couldn't accept that without trying to help him. Bloodwork was performed and Meatball was eventually given fluids, but he was sent home without medication and without a scheduled follow-up. The hospital's own medical record states that Meatball was "unlikely to survive at home" and that I was counseled that he would "likely pass away at home in the very near future." I took Meatball to another veterinary hospital the very next day. That veterinarian chose to actively treat him. Meatball was prescribed Enrofloxacin, Ofloxacin ophthalmic solution, Fenbendazole, Ponazuril, and nutritional support. Meatball did not die within the next few days. He began showing improvement with treatment. What bothers me most is thinking about what would have happened had I accepted the original prognosis and elected euthanasia. Meatball would never have had the opportunity to receive the treatment he received the following day. I contacted Whole Pet privately and requested that they review what happened and refund the cost of the August 24 visit. They declined. During that correspondence, the hospital suggested that Meatball may not initially have been a candidate for medication because of dehydration and that the fluids they administered may have helped make it possible for him to receive medication the following day. I pointed out that their own August 24 medical record specifically listed Meatball's hydration status as "Well hydrated." In their subsequent response, the hospital acknowledged that this was an error in Meatball's medical record and stated that he was actually dehydrated. I understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science. I understand that two veterinarians can examine the same animal and reach different conclusions, and I am not disputing that Meatball was seriously ill when I brought him in. What I cannot get past is being told before bloodwork was performed that my pet was terminal and would likely die within days, being presented with euthanasia as an option, leaving without outpatient medication, and then having another veterinarian initiate treatment the following day that Meatball responded to. I gave the hospital the opportunity to review the second veterinarian's records, and they confirmed that they did so. I also gave them multiple opportunities to reconsider my concerns privately. They have declined to issue a refund and stand by the care provided. I am sharing my experience so other exotic-pet owners can make their own informed decisions. I am extremely thankful that I trusted my instincts, declined euthanasia, and sought a second opinion for Meatball.

Megan also ensured that the engraving on my baby's urn would be perfect to my specifications and she did her absolute best to make sure it was ready on time. I picked up my precious baby on 18 June 2025 and proceeded to prepare his resting place at home. I literally cried buckets of tears as I carefully unwrapped his beautiful urn, his paw print in a leather binder inscribed with his name, his curly locks of hair, and other delicate memorabilia. I cannot write or say enough words to ALL for going ABOVE AND BEYOND to memorialize my adorable and loved companion and family member. They told me to come in the next day so I got there when they opened the next morning. They ran labs and I had to wait 2 hours for the vet to then tell me they don't offer IV fluids and refer me to an emergency vet. Every hour is critical for the illness my cat has so they wasted a ton of time and the damage could be irreversible because of that according to the vet. Also wasted $400 in duplicate charges because I had to go to the emergency vet immediately from there. Update to review- The practice manager did reach out to me and apologized. She said they will improve their training on this to try to prevent it in the future, which I appreciate and is why I brought up the issue. I also want to say the vet tech and vet that we saw there were great despite not being able to provide the treatment my cat needed.

I asked if I could just pay on Monday and was told absolutely not even though this had never happened before. Then Dr. Linfante came out and in front of other patients said how dare I bring him my sick puppy, take time out of his busy day and not pay for services. When I called the card in Monday am, they charged me additional monies because I was paying over the phone. I of course have switched vets, and when I took Toby to his first appointment, he did a lot of blood work and I was told they thought he had Cushing's disease which has just been confirmed. Toby was tested for that about 18 months ago at West Ballaynte and I was told it was negative. I think my dog has had this deadly disease for over 18 months and just warning anyone that goes there, he is not as good as you think.
