It's a shame that most people will only go out of their way to review a small business if they've had a negative experience there. Customers happy with their service do not go out of their way to put on a good review. Seriously. I NEVER do reviews unless it's for restaurants but this is my favorite dry cleaners and I like the rustic look. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. He has got me heated. The family that owns this business is hard-working and they're very friendly, they may not be known for their prices, but they are known for their quality of work. I've learned SO much about my own clothes and how careful I need to be with them from these people! First off, you're not walking into a five-star hotel. It's a dry cleaners for christ's sake! Secondly, it's in Willimantic, which is overall bleak at best, so guess what, it fits in with the city, so suck it up. Every time I've gone into this cleaners, I'm treated with utmost respect, they're incredibly knowledgeable of their services. And no one's perfect. If they don't know a question, they will most certainly call you back the day after, they did that for me when I asked for a price on some clothes. I left them overnight, and got a call from the owner the next day for an appraisal. Hey, by the way, I've been coming to this store for over 23 years, even before the new management took over around 2002 and it's only gotten better from there. I KNOW what a regular customer is because I run my own business as well. Regular customers do not just come for 2 months and expect VIP treatment. Most of their customers are regulars anyway, as in, they have come at least once a week for many months. You cannot assume someone is going to recognize your face when there is a rotation of a couple cashiers who won't be seeing your face, especially when you're only going to bring in 2 or 3 shirts to be laundered. Do you think customers at Stop & Shop get mad because we come in once a week for groceries and the Stop & Shop staff can't recognize you? Guess what? HELL NO. Especially if you're buying such small little items. Seriously, in any business, someone who brings in a lot of clothes all the time is going to be considered more "special" that those who bring in one shirt once a week. In my line of business, customers are recognized as VIP if they are nice enough to hold a small conversation, and come in on a regular basis for MORE THAN 2 MONTHS. Usually, at about 3 or 4 months, you are actually considered a recognizable customer. Clearly the other reviewer didn't have enough clothes brought in to be recognizable. ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: You are only in the store for less than 2 minutes, it's a get in and get out kind of place, it's meant to be fast service. Plus, I've walked in once, waiting behind a first time customer, the next time they picked up their clothes was at the same time as me, coincidentally. The girl at the register didn't even need to know the customer's name, she just went into the clothes rack and got it. The customer even said, "Wow! That's really fast service!" They recognize your face if you're nice to them. If you give someone a pissed off look, do you remember the golden rule? Treat others the way you want to be treated. If you're walking in with a resting b**** face then you won't be able to get the best of your service. People feed off your positive and negative energy. Don't be a sourpuss guys! There was this one time I walked into the cleaners, and they were arguing with a customer who insisted they put a stain on her clothes and now it won't come out even though they've tried to take it out. I know that when these cleaners do TRY THEIR BEST, they do end up trying to do as much as possible to get the clothes the way the customers want them. Plus, if it's a dry cleaners, they're not going to MAKE stains on your clothes, if anything, they keep your clothes a little longer to work on a stain IF they do ruin it and they will always tell you. Personally, I've never seen any of my clothes with any stain, if anything, there is a lack of stain, which is even better! I have ONLY ever seen my clothe HEY EVERYONE: REMEMBER THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU BRING YOUR CLOTHES TO THE DRY CLEANERS, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY WILL BRING IT BACK AS IF IT'S NEW. There are SOOOO many of my friends who choose to believe that, and they've tried to go to court and do all these stupid things to get their money back. If you ask to get something cleaned, it's not the stain that gets cleaned, the actual clothing item gets cleaned. If the stain is still there, mention it to them, sometimes they will have overlooked it, sometimes they just couldn't get it out so it looks like that. The clothes shaped I REALLY STRESS THIS: Just because the stain didn't come out, it does not mean you should not pay for your service. I really like this place!!!!!! I definitely recommend coming here and I've been coming here for over a year now. I used to go to Swiss Cleaners but they ACTUALLY ruined my clothes and lost my favorite pair of pants custom made from Italy. I live in Vernon and Swiss Cleaners is only about a 7 minute drive from my house but I drive all the way to Willimantic every week to make sure my clothes are in top shape. It's worth the 30 minute drive. I definitely don't have a white collar job but I need my clothes to look nice a sharp at work. I know there's probably cheaper dry cleaners. This place is only SLIGHTLY more expensive than the other dry cleaners around the area but their QUALITY BEATS every dry cleaners I've been to. SO I definitely choose to look better by spending a few dollars extra. It really is worth the trouble and hassle of arguing with your dry cleaner. BUTTT, I love that they have a new membership promo. I think I only paid $5 for the membership fee. So for a whole year starting from the date I started my membership on, I get 15% off every time I come in. I was going to ask my husband to see if we wanted to sign up for it but it turns out, there's no sign up process. You just pay them the $5 and your account will automatically take off 15% off every time you come in. I only brought about $38 dollars worth of clothes when I bought my membership and I already saved $4.88 or something like that on those clothes. I was like.... SCORE!!! Seriously, this is cliche but: It's so simple and easy, just do it There was one time I really needed my white pants cleaned. They said they would get the stain but they couldn't. I asked them if it could be cleaned again, and they said no. At first I was confused as to why. But they explained to me that mustard is just impossible to take out and the more chemicals they put on it, the worse the stain could get, and eventually deteriorate the shape/quality of my clothes. And you know what, THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! I had trouble with other dry cleaners too but they never gave me a reason. These guys really know what they're doing. If they can't do something, it's probably for the best. They don't want to ruin your clothes just as much as you don't want them to ruin your clothes. I'm not an idiot either, because I'm a salesman, and I know when someone is trying to lie. They don't really lie, they just give you many reasons they can't help because they LITERALLY cannot do anything about it. Plus, it always ends up being the customer's fault when a stain doesn't come out. I've really thought about it! Why? It's our fault because WE put the stains on our clothes and we're yelling at someone who already tried to take the stain out, seriously guys. It's not the dry cleaners to blame! I was actually embarrassed by the fact that I thought I was in the right when I demanded it to be taken out. They just kept apologizing and telling me that that's the best they can do or the clothes will become frayed and torn after a few more washes. All in all, this is probably my favorite dry cleaners in CT so far. My reviews have been taken off one too many times. Look at the last review that yelp "currently does not recommend" James summed it up very well. It's a family business, they have three or four stores but all the cleaning is brought back BY family back to this cleaners to be done thoroughly. The younger guy who does all the cleaning is probably the most thorough and BEST cleaners I've ever been to. Stains that have already been tried and done with, he has been able to make like new. They're a little pricier than city prices but the quality is ABOVE and BEYOND. read more
