It's been a while since I've been to Harry's Place, and recently I've been thinking about the food there. On Friday, I decided to head over for one of their famous fish dinners. I'm happy to report that the food is thankfully as good as it has always been. Now, I want to say right away that if you're seeking ambiance... this place ain't it! However, if you are looking for good food, with generous portion sizes, at reasonable prices and great service, you've found your place to go. I brought a good friend with me on this trip and he ordered the fish dinner as well, and he was also very satisfied with his meal. I can also recommend the decaf coffee there. It was good. read more

Food was very tasty and service very fast and courteous. The appetizer was breaded mushrooms and they were tasty too. And beer is always cold in a frosty mug. read more

Hadn't been there in years. Last Friday went for fish. Wasn't very good and the price was unnecessarily high.

This is the second time we have visited this place and it was a delight to return . the waitress is very friendly, and curious . the food was excellent! the fish & onion rings are delicious & I ordered Thursday spaghetti & meatballs special was also delicious. I see they give you very nice portions of everything. the bar is so pretty & rustic . the dining room is spacious & very clean & plenty of tables & booths . I will definitely return & the prices are very reasonable. every thing is fresh & hot . well worth the trip read more

5-26-23 Was our last trip to Harry's, been going for fish for 20 yrs. what a shame it's gone downhill. Under cooked fish, clam chowder is thin as milk with nothing in it only broth & lukewarm, raised prices, $1.00 for skinless fish, $1.00 if you want a roll with your dinner! Bad service mostly due to not enough employees. I really get tired of hearing employee shortage, not my problem! I'm paying to eat there! Also have any of the servers heard of pre-busing? It's disgusting to have a conversation at a table covered with dirty dishes' read more

Fish is always great! Lobster pot is my second go to. If you don't expect anything fancy, you'll love it!

Always a great place bc for dinner with family! Service is wonderful, affordable and food is always delicious!

Stood here for 15 minutes behind about 8 people while people poured in the door making a huge gathering and line out the door and not one waitress or hostess acknowledge the fact that their was such a big crowd and line starting in their entrance. You stand right by the bar and not even the bartender acknowledge that there was so many people waiting. We left read more

Really great fish. I can't comment on anything else they serve, because I've never had it. Not hard to find however, on a Friday (fish day) it can be insanely busy and wait times can be a little ridiculous. That and that alone is why it's a 4-Star. Would recommend trying it out. read more

I never thought I would see the day that I vowed never to retuen to this famous local fish dive. Even three years ago, I would have rated it at least four stars, but the place has been in decline for a few years, and seems to have bottomed out. Firat of all, the quick and friendly service that I had become accustomed to was no where to be found. Our waitress acted as if she was doing us a favor by taking our orders. Repeatedly cutting us off and huffing and puffing while taking our orders. The fish, which used to be the best in the county is atrocious. Bland, undercooked, and awful. I dont mind that they leave the skin on, but at least cook it through. I honestly hope that they get their act together, because it used to be tops for fish in the area. read more

We were passing through the area and needed to stop for some food. Everyone recommended the fish dinner. My friend and I shared a dinner because the fish is massive! I'm not a huge fan of fried fish but it wasn't greasy and tasted pleasant. The sweet potato that came with it was massive as well. Served with a side of cinnamon butter score! The salad and mac n cheese were both average. If you like fried food this is the place for you. There's also a bar on the other side which is nice. We got there right before a rush so service was pretty quick. My water tasted very strange so I got a can of ginger ale instead. That was my only issue. read more

Don't come for the atmosphere. Come for the fish!! best ever. better than Wholeys or anywhere.

Used to love this place! Has definitely gone down hill. I ordered a steak salad and upon receiving it, looked ok. Until I started eating it. The steak tasted absolutely terrible. It tasted like it was 3 days old and reheated in the microwave. I expressed my distaste and sent it back. The waitress did not offer me a new salad or anything a long the lines other than they would take $2 off of the salad for the "steak" (after I asked whether or not I was going to be refunded.) which I only ate 2 very small pieces of steak and maybe 3 bites of actual lettuce. So, I had to pay almost full price for a salad I literally took 4-5 bites out of and couldn't tolerate it. Very disappointed. read more

The last time I was here... I think, maybe 1977 with my parents and their friends. Everybody was smoking at the table as we ate a platter full of smelt. The smelt are no longer on the menu, but the same smoke tile ceiling is still overhead. Tonight's food was not bad, but it's hard to make bad fryed fish and clams. read more

Love this place! Friendly and pleasant wait staff, only to be matched by that HUGE slab af Haddock! Slaw's good.... fries are good.... tartar sauce is good!!! (...and a full service bar if the company's not that good...lol!) Great place and great people without a huge price attached to it. I've eaten in family style restaurants all over the country, and it doesn't get better than this. The specialty: fish! If you don't have a huge, and I mean "huge" appetite, get the sandwich, even if you don't want the bun. Eat the bun with the rest of your salad or something if you like, but the amount of fish that comes on the sandwich portion is probably enough for most grown men walking around. 10 stars for this place!!!! read more

We go to Harrys quite often. We like the consistency of their food for the reasonable price. Portions are large. Monday Roast Beef Sandwich is awesome and so are the Thursday night Ribs! read more

Well what can I say but NOT. We were visiting from out of town and were told it was a great place, always packed and known for their fish. Four of us went and now I'm wondering who are these people who said it was great and where have they been? When I ordered I must have been delusional. What was I thinking to order the "lobster pot". After looking at the place I should have known better than to order such a dish. I did question it thinking it was a lobster pot pie but was told it was lobster pieces with drawn butter. "Lobster pieces" again what was I thinking especially since the two places I have lived are outside of Boston and San Francisco. I think for a split second I remembered the crab cakes at Lock 6 outside of New Brighton PA, these are still the best I have ever had. Then maybe it was my excitement over the $16.95 price or my large desire to have a great meal. Honestly, what was I thinking. It was god awful. After two bites I could eat no more of the frozen, thawed, watery tasteless scraps of a lobster. We took it home and even the cat wouldn't eat it.. The fish my husband had was edible but doesn't compare to the Back Door Tavern. It was a cornmeal crust that hid the black fish skin underneath. If you do go stick to a burger. The burger didn't look bad but I also heard afterwards that the kitchen is pretty scary. I would give it a 0 if I had that option because even the waitress didn't make up for the lack of good food. read more

Went here when I was a kid often. Loved this place for the fish sandwiches. You go here for fish. The place is no frills but the fish sandwiches are huge. read more

Living nearby and driving past this establishment many times (and seeing it fairly busy) I was determined to try it. I wish I hadn't stopped. The food is overpriced for the quality offered and our server was awful at best. They weren't busy when we stopped so there isn't really any excuse for the lack of service we received. We ordered 2 Philly sandwiches and some chicken tenders for our daughter. We also had to try their soups. Lobster bisque and clam chowder. I've had better from cans on both accounts. I had a draft beer to drink and their soda comes in cans. The bill came to 40 bucks and we saw our waitress twice. The description says good for kids but they have no kids menu so I disagree with that. All in all it was a terrible experience. Pretty sure you wouldn't be able to talk me into going back even if you offered to pay. read more

Usually I breakdown my score then fill out the rating. No need on this one folks. Read Dianne M.'s review from 2009. Not much has changed since the review. Through my lens, couple of issues from the minute we walked in. The place has a musty smell. The bathroom s were disgusting. We should have left at that instant. No we didn't and I knew better. We asked for water and it had a sulfur smell, even from a foot away. I asked the waitress if something was wrong and was rebutted with "do you want something else to drink?" Yes I'll take a diet coke. The can I got was dirty. So the good part is I got to explain to my kids what a mess looks like, what happens when people don't care, and why we are never coming back. By the way, my son had the fish he threw up an hour later. Note - the waitress was nice overall. it seemed she got my question alot and as she probably couldn't do much about was just trying to move on than explain the issue. I felt like I needed a shot of penicilin when we left. read more

Because I moved away, I hadn't been to Harry's for many years but on a recent visit, I stopped for take out. Wow! Very disappointed! We got 2 fish dinners with fries and cole slaw. The pieces of fish were large but they were tougher to chew than a bad piece of beef. The fries were frozen. The cole slaw was good but there was very little of it. We won't be back. read more

Well, we stopped in just for lunch on our road trip. I decided to go with the Jumbo Fresh Hamburger. The meat was indeed, very fresh. It was also cooked just right. If you are hungry and nearby, this will satisfy your belly. The french fries that came with it were not bad, but kind of average. The price wasn't bad either. I definitely recommend it to anyone coming through! read more

Harry's Place is a good stop for seafood and other things. I normally order the wings or shrimp when we stop in. Last I was here, my family, which consisted of my mom, dad, sister, and myself. Stopped in with my grandmother, grandfather, my 2 cousins, and my 2 uncles a while back, and they recognized us as regulars. They knew who we were, and sat us at the party read more

Harry's fish dinner sets the standard by which we judge all other fish dinners. I've never had better fish, larger portions, faster service or better value... anywhere! No wonder the place is packed EVERY Friday night. Cold beer, great fish, tasty appetizers, excellent wait staff and reasonable prices. Could you ask for more? This place is an institution. If you haven't tried them, you're missing the BEST fish in 3 counties!!! read more

I totally forgot that I wanted to post this, but went here about a month ago with my son for lunch. Walked in and there were only 2-3 other tables. We sat on the bar side at one of the high top tables so we basketball game. The waitress was behind the counter on the phone chatting to someone for about 5 minutes before telling them that she had to go to wait on a customer. She came over, never introduced herself, and seemed to have no personality. We ordered and I had a grilled chicken salad. After about 30 min. our food finally came, I did not get the garlic bread that was supposed to, and the chicken was not even cooked....I mean literally RAW!! I brought this to the waitresses attention and she said that she would take it back and also remove it from my bill. I could see her from our seats showing and telling the cooks that I couldn't eat it. Waited for about another 10-15 minutes thinking they were going to give me another salad when she finally came back over and asked me if we needed anything else and I told her that I thought I was getting another salad and would really like one. So while I was waiting for another 20-30 minutes for another salad I witnessed one of the cooks take a plate over to the sink by the garbage can, sit the plate on the side of the sink and start picking something out of it, breaking pieces off and throwing them into the garbage, and then putting the other pieces back onto the plate, she then placed the plate in the microwave for a few minutes, and then told the waitress it was done. Totally grossed me out and when my salad finally came back out I'm pretty sure they had used the chicken from the 1st one as it was now cooked, but completely dried out. And then to top it off, when I got the bill she had added it back on!!! I used to love this place, and love their food, but I will never go back again! read more

This place used to be good but it has gone downhill and continues to get worse. They used to have the best fish around but yesterday my wife and I both got fish and it was horrible. Overcooked, tough and chewy best describes what I was served. My wife picked through hers, leaving the hard chewy areas and tried to eat what she could. I had two bites and couldn't eat another bite. To make matters worse, the waitress never once came to our table to see how our meals were. We had both finished eating and were waiting. When she came to the table, she saw all the food on the plates. Instead of asking if anything was wrong, she asked if we wanted take out boxes. I said no, and before I could say anything, she was gone. She came back with the check and I told her that my meal was inedible. She argued with me that, this is how they cook their fish. then said she would take my fish off of the bill, but not my wife's because she had picked through it. There are many much better places in the area to get good food. Stay away! read more

I have been going to Harry's for many years and I always get the fish sandwich (delicious). The lobster pot is also very good...the pieces are small but, firm. Dianne needs to NOT keep her nose so high in the air. read more

This place is terrible. I'm writing this review as I'm waiting for my food to come back. This is not the only reason this place is terrible. We are here for a family dinner. First off, the waitress has gotten very little right and appears to be miserable. My uncle ordered a Diet Pepsi she brought a Pepsi. Then after correcting the mistake. He finished it, asked for a refill and she brought him a Diet Coke. I ordered hot sausage sandwich. It came looking pathetic without any onions or peppers as advertised. My brother ordered beer fries as an appetizer and it came out an hour later after the main course. We have several empty cans and glasses on the table. The waitress came and went several times and left empty handed. My girlfriend asked for Parmesan cheese for her pizza and the girl came three times and hasn't brought it. People in our party ordering large fish sandwich are being brought smalls. Maybe the girl is new, but the kitchen sucks and I hope she gets better at her job. Pisspoor. read more

I have been going to Harry's for about 40 years. I have never had a fish dinner anywhere in Beaver County that is better! That includes the Back Door, Corner Tavern or anywhere for that matter. The fish is white, flaky and thick. Their bread is delicious, the portions are above and beyond. I read these other review and I would like to know where these people eat fish that is better. If I have to say anything about what would need improved I could only say the side salad is pretty plain with not much more than lettuce and croutons in it. But on the other had they can get away with it because the fish is excellent. Just drive by on a Friday night and look at the parking lot, that many people aren't parked to have a bad meal, they are parked because they know it is good! The service is almost always good and the waitresses pleasant. I just hope now that they are finally retiring and selling the place the new owners keep serving the great fish! read more
