You can start in cosmetics, walk over to perfumes, get lost in sunglasses, end up in the food hall, and then take an escalator and then you're looking at a gold plated ipod. This store has EVERYTHING! It's the store that can get you anything you want, literally. The locals say "if you want an elephant, they can get you an elephant!" How crazy is that? They really do have a wide range of thing that you want and things that you didn't even know you wanted but since you see it in front of you...you have to get it. Shop end of December to January for their big big sale!! Huge markdowns. They even sell Lexus hybrids in there!! geez I can't get over how many different things they sell. read more

One of my friends told me to check out Harrods and defined it as a "luxury store." I thought okay that's an interesting way to put it. I got out of the Underground and saw that the outside of Harrods reminded me of Macy's or Marshall Fields because they all had Christmas window displays, but once I walked into Harrods I knew that I was not walking into a Macys or Marshall Fields, but something wayy better. My favorite parts were the toy section and the Millionaire Gallery. I thought that all the framed collections were cool. I also liked that they didn't stop anyone who wasn't a millionaire from going in. The toy section had a mini frozen yogurt restaurant. Just when I thought that the toy section couldn't get any cuter, it gets froyo. Another good thing I noticed was that there was always a staff member by each brand or section. That's very good because then I know I could always find help! I recommend anyone to visit this store if they have a chance. Any type of luxury item you would want, they probably have it. read more

Harrods is a high-end. We're talking about their prices too. This flagship store is located in the priciest neighbourhood in London, so it shouldn't be a surprise for most people. I wasn't too impressed with most of their food products as they weren't really truly British. I could hardly find anything made in England in their supermarket section, except for their in-store Sushi. "Harrods is the very few places in London where you can buy sushi in a prepackaged container", said an employee. Hmmmmm.. why would I want to buy sushi from a place called Harrods? Coffee, tea, chcolates, maybe, but sushi, no. I'll go to a real Japanese restaurant for that. I must say they have a huge area for coffee, tea, and chocolates. They even have a large produce, seafood, and meat section. Next door, it's their huge cosmetics area. Brilliant eh? NOT! Harrods is a department store that tells people how they should carry their backpack too. I couldn't wear it over my shoulders. I had to carry it with my hand like a shopping bag. Luckily, I wore my khaki pants and my oxford shirt, because I heard about the dress code. I passed the dress code. I went inside, and I spotted about a dozen people carrying their backpacks, so it wasn't just me. Silly, silly, rules. On a positive note, staff seemed pretty laid back and cool. Nice store, but way too expensive. It's worth a visit because it's London's most famous department store, that's about it. read more

It's the world's greatest department store. It's no lie. I love Harrods. I don't think I survive a month in London without at least browsing the store. My favorite thing to do is start at the top and work your way down. The sporting section stocks every Hunter boot you can image. Perfect souvenir when in London! Make sure to stop at the kid's level. Who cares if you are well over the age? The kids section is full of stuffed animals taller than most men, doll houses that would make any little girl swoon, and a candy section that would rot teeth for days. If you are a book lover, stop by the bookstore in the department store. Plenty of children's book that you may not be able to find anywhere else. Head to the Harrods Shop for the must-have London souvenirs. From tea towels to the Harrods Bear of the Year to phone cases, you cannot leave without taking something home. Don't forget Christmas as well! Grab the ornament of the year or out-furnish a new Christmas tree. On the same floor of the Harrods Shop, be sure to take your photo with the famous jumbo Harrods bears before heading to the ice cream parlour. It's an old fashioned ice cream parlour complete with fountain sodas! Try the macaroon sundae! If you are in the mood for tea, stop by the tea room on the same floor of the Harrods Shop. Get the champange tea! On the bottom level of Harrods, Coach, Longchamp, and the rest of the designers have their boutiques. One floor up is Dior, Louis, etc. The food hall is pure amazing. Make sure to check the prices. Somethings are the same as grocery stores. Go to Laduree. Get pastries. Eat some sushi. Get biscuits and tea to take home! I could keep going on. Attention fellow peasants-there is a gift shop here! You can buy things that say Harrods on them as opposed to Fendi and Gucci and save significant money taking in this tourist experience! And of course get one of those iconic green bags to carry around town, or if you're like me, for the rest of your life. At the time I visited the Christmas display was open which was lovely. That alone was worth the trip. I didn't get to check out some of the food offerings here but they definitely have a great selection. Also, tea time! The lower level gift shop was the site of lots of souvenirs shopping. The iconic teddy bears can be found en masse here as well as lots of other fun trinkets. My favorite thing that I bought myself on my trip here was a Harrods tea box. My only issue with the rest of the store is how incredibly easy it is to get lost. I was a tourist so of course I needed to stop by and pick up souvenirs (ahem, tchotchkes) for friends at home. It's been a minute since I've been here but since a Qatari family bought this from the al-Fayed family they stripped it of its Egyptian themes and it looks like any other European high end department store. They still have a small section of Dodi and Diana displayed but other than that, it was renovated to look sleek and luxurious. I liked their 5th floor fragrance section, lots of high end fragrances like Clive Christian, Bond No.9 and others who have deep pockets. There is also a whole floor dedicated to shoes, where they have every designer shoe with their own boutique and in their Jimmy Choo boutique is the 9,000GBP pair of Swarovski pumps that were made for the Cinderella movie. The Food Hall has a huge selection of food and tea. There is a small cafe, and other places to eat in the food hall with swarms of people eating caviar, rotisserie chicken and seafood. One of my favorite floors was the souvenir floor where there are tons of Harrods bears waiting for the right home to go to as well as the green Harrods shopping bags to stuff said bears and other souvenirs in to give as gifts. If you haven't been, it's a great place to check out, count the plethora of Bentley/Bugatti/Lamborghinis lining the street in the back of the store, patiently waiting for their owners to come down. read more

Perhaps it was my bad for coming to Harrods on a Saturday while it happened to be raining but holy hell this will be my last journey here. I had always held a special spot for Harrods because it's Harrods, but now I see it for the wildly unspecial tourist trap department store that it is. It was crazy, CRAZY jam packed with people, who, due to the insanely complicated layout of the store, have absolutely no idea where they are going. The food halls, while pretty, are mostly selling third party goods and the stuff that is from the Harrods brand look bland and unspecial. There isn't that extra oomph to the packaging and branding that I saw at Fortnum & Masons, and that's when I lost my love for Harrods. Instead, it was just a mess of human bodies being pushed from room to room aimlessly and very much not worth the trip out. read more

This is the type of place you could tour for a couple days and see something new each time. Our stay in London was limited so we checked out the main floor and the gift shop area. This is definitely an upscale shopping experience with a lot of designer shopping to offer. I saw part of a review where someone referred to Harrods as an upscale Macy's. I would agree with that statement (with an emphasis on upscale designers) and add that it's also on steroids due to the size of the building. Unless you are tourist on your first trip to London, in which case you can gawp happily at the impressive interiors and the selection in the food hall (375 types of cheese, anyone?), I recommend Harrods for: - the January sales. If you have iron discipline, patience, and are prepared to go early in the day, you can buy decent or very decent stuff at excellent prices - especially in formal menswear, for shirts, ties and the like. The first few days have the best bargains, and it really does pay to go at either end of the day, and avoid the entrances near the tube. (Avoid the China department on the first day altogether unless you are wearing appropriate body armour); - stationery. It sounds like madness to buy stationery from Harrods, but they have all sorts of fairly straightforward things at ordinary prices, as well as more exotic and expensive stuff which makes for good, if exclusive, presents; - the Pantry (Lower ground) - better than the gifts section if you really want to buy someone 'something from Harrods' (Confession: I rented a flat in Hans Road for two years, and Harrods was literally my corner shop The Pantry did actually sell some ordinary stuff at normal prices - though the emphasis is on more specialised products now); - just wandering around at Christmas. Little known services: there's a left luggage facility (LG), and 28 places to eat (though these are extortionately expensive). Don't: wear ripped jeans, take in bags, or take photographs. read more

Who would think a shopping mall would be a landmark unto itself, but it's not an american style shopping mall either, it would be more like a HUGE department store. One can definitely get lost inside and what a splendid place to get lost. The food area underneath is probably my favorite area with a full ice cream bar, that has people hawking around for seats to the pizzeria complete with an opera singer. Brilliant! I love coming here every time I visit London. The number of things they sell is overwhelming. I particularly like the food area. The selection of things like cheese is truly amazing. Being a big drinker of tea I always end up buying several tins of Harrods tea. One thing that's always fun is to do high tea at the Georgian Restaurant on the 4th floor. If you love luxurious department stores and want it in one huge building, Harrod's is the place to go. Look out for their window displays - they always have some craziness going on. Any brand you're looking for, this store has it set up in it's expansive floor plan - clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, handbags, men's, women's, homeware, eateries downstairs, etc.. There are sometimes free samples in the respective stores (I picked up some Chanel postcards and stickers). A must for shopaholics. The store is high end, ultra stuffy and glamorous in the best way possible. It's overly expensive in some areas, but also has the normal designers you'd expect in any high end store. I really like how the women's shoe department is laid out, it has a little boutique for each shoe designer which eliminates a little bit of the overwhelming department store feeling, and actually makes you feel like you're in a Manolo Blahnik, or a Chanel, or a Gucci store. This place is beautiful on the outside, and carries some kind of royal Egyptian theme on the inside, but it's just so classic Harrods. The associates are very friendly and helpful, as is usual with designer stores. There's a special section to do the VAT, so wait until the very end if you plan to make multiple purchases in the stores. With the size of the department store, it's impressive how there is still plenty of enough staff to help you in whichever department you find yourself in. Like I said, if you're a shopaholic make it a point to at least stop here (and Selfridges), even if you don't buy anything it's still worth the visit. read more

Since Harrods first opened its doors to the public in 1849 it has prided itself on serving the needs of the customer, provided of course that the customer is willing to cough up the cash. Within this multi-storey monolith once can find pretty much anything from food and groceries to electronic equipment, clothes, toys, entertainment systems, perfume, fine wines, gadgets and gizmos, pets and pretty much anythin else you can think of. The exuberant owner, Mohammed Al-Fayad, has wasted no expense in ensuring this is the premier shopping trip for the uber-wealthy. Personally I have only been to this consumer paradise on one occasion and was utterly blown away by what was on offer, unfortunately , being a student at this time meant that it was very much a window-shopping exercise in self-control. For the majority Harrods is simply an example of how the other half live, a place to come more as a matter of curiousity than a shopping trip. read more

They have everything from designer clothes, to a pet spa, to a charcuterie, to a gelato bar. Highlights: *An entire section dedicated to Louboutins on sale (and others not on sale) *The ground floor has several places to eat: a rotisserie, pizza station, espresso cafe, caviar bar... all are pretty pricey (maybe 15-25GBP/dish). and theres a gelato bar, but if you get it to go you have to eat it outside. *The 4th floor has electronics, including spy wear. *The wine cellar is amazing...if you like to look at wine. A wonderfull store that offers anything when it comes to luxury items. The finest foods, drinks and delicacies but also clothing, perfumes, watches and much much much more. Take at least half a day to see the entire store since it's huge! So much to see, smell and taste. I gave it 3 stars because the personel doesn't seem very interested to help you out if you don't have a middle-eastern apearance. Also I think the store really isn't easy to navigate. The chocolate shop is amazing, my favorite Belgium chocolate Neuhaus had so much variety. Bathrooms are hard to come by and take a bit of time to get to depending where you are in the store. The toy area is way over priced, way over priced! The gifts shop doesn't have a ton of variety but they have lots of bags, mugs, souvenirs, etc. I would loved to have shopped more jewelry and handbags but didn't have enough time. Went to the toy department because I'm still a big kid and the workers were having such a good time showing off the items. How could people afford this place? Apparently, people could. I heard from my sister that this is a place where bored and rich people hang and shop around. All tags that I could see, I was like...what???!!! Anyway, the furniture, design, ambience, decor, interior, - they all look extravagant and expensive, of course. I was mesmerized on the elevator that's made of gold and designed with Egyptian and Cleopatra stuff. The place is huge! I wasn't able to explore that much. I also almost got lost here. Friendly workers, gorgeous products, stunning displays, delicious goodies and a beautiful Diana & Dodi Memorial. Be warned, speaking as a tourist, this is definitely a tourist magnet! We visited here about three times during our eight days in the UK and it was packed each and every day! Though the despite the high traffic of people filing in and out, the store stays remarkably tidy! I don't know how they do it, but it really was neat and organized! The store is stunning and magnificent from the exterior, just a preview of what lays inside. We remained primarily on the ground level which is home to my favorite part of Harrods, The Food Halls :) The yummy, scrumptious, tempting food halls! With a variety of fresh fruits, gourmet chocolates, coffees & teas, pre-made food for takeaway, charcuterie, breads, cakes & cupcakes, small cafes/restaurants, cookies & biscuits, jams, honeys and even a flower shop! I could come here everyday for months just to sample the diverse selection of treats! The lower ground level houses their men's collections, wine shop and a delicious Italian restaurant dei Frescobaldi (review to follow). The ground level houses accessories (purses, etc), The Food Hall, fine jewelry and watches. The second floor houses home wares, a bookshop and their Harrods Gift Shop. A great gift shop set up with tourists in mind! Unlike the rest of the very high end, luxury priced store the Harrods Gift Shop offers a great selection of treats, souvenirs and Harrods branded merchandise at far more reasonable prices. The third floor houses toys and tech while the fourth floor houses kids, pets and Disney @ Harrods. An adorable setting with a small cafe and Disney merchandise. The set up is so adorable and so very Disney! We didn't venture to the fifth floor, but I believe that houses the their Personal Shoppers. The store is stunning and a definite must see when visiting! Honestly a bit overrated. The store layout is insane and nonsensical. I didn't know where I was going the entire time there. I look at the directory, floor 5 for "hair and beauty". There is another section called "beauty" on a completely separate floor entirely (I went here first and it was the wrong place.) To make it even more confusing they have another section on another floor called beauty events and services. So I walk through a million departments and I finally found what I needed. I already knew what I wanted but I was perusing and waiting for someone to come help me. I figured it was not a self checkout kind of situation where I could bring my stuff to the counter. I stood there for at least 10 minutes before someone came to up me. This girl was really uninterested in helping me as I asked her several questions and didn't not fully get a satisfactory answer to anything. I asked for recommendations and she could not help. She said it's really up to you. Okay... I mean I know... But I was asking for your professional opinion, lady who works at one of the most expensive luxury stores in the world. I assumed you had some knowledge on the products on display. The checkout process was kind of iffy too because there were several people standing around the front of the counter just talking and not buying anything. She just stared at me instead of asking the people to move aside. Of course she picks the only cash register with people in front of it. For a luxury department store, the service was subpar. It's a huge store. Huge!! It multiple cafes/restaurants inside the store. It has an art section that makes you feel like you have wandered into a museum. But everything is for sale!! They have a Christmas shop that is open all year long and provides cute souvenirs for your trip. They also sell great biscuits and teas. read more

As a tourist destination, I really can't give this place less than five stars. For all out, over-the-top consumerism, there really is nothing that comes close to Harrods. Be sure to go down to the basement and see the shrine to Dodi and Di, complete with the unwashed champagne flutes and the diamond ring that Dodi was about to propose marriage with (according to his father, the owner of Harrods). Also, the hosiery department is pretty amazing in and of itself. I bought a pair of Pucci tights here. Did you know Pucci even makes tights?
