The person that was at the register was Mimi, a lady who was there as long as I would go to this 7/11. For some reason, something in the back of my brain said "Get a receipt and look at it". On the receipt, it listed an additional iced tea... The iced tea tea costs $1.99 although on my rewards program, discounted the iced tea purchase by 99 cents. I didn't purchase this item. I never asked for a receipt in the past. All of a sudden, for some weird reason.. I asked for it ??? I felt duped. for the past 18 years. I was dealing with a store that I never questioned and now after 18 years.. I now have reason to believe that I was being charged b/c I just didn't check. I now have the feeling that this is a practice that may have been in practice???? I just don't know.. I questioned Mimi and she refunded my $1. After looking at the receipt, I realized that there was no way that there was an accident based on where the Iced Team was charged in the chronology of what was rung up. I now wonder how many $1s I have been overcharged.??? If you go to a convenience store especially with Mimi and that 7/11 GET the receipt.. This is not over.. I just don't want others to be defrauded by this action. If for some reason, I was walking out with 2 bucks of unpaid product I would be criminally liable. Now, a simple compliment on how fast the checkout was and that I wished everyone everywhere checked out as fast as he did, made a difference. Turns out that he was the manager and since then, it's almost like they have a timed training session to become a cashier because all of the ones I go to slam those items through the scanner like no body's business and they even properly reload the box you brought with you. They also will catch opened merchandise and let you run to get a new one after checking out. I hope that someone brings back the cashier Olympics someday, because I would enjoy attending them or watching them on TV just like the bartender contests. The store is kept nicely stocked and organized at all times. They have a nice variety of items and also bring in their brand of Specially Select items that are unique like the Mushroom Truffle ravioli or Pumpkin Butternut squash pasta sauce. After taking a couple of chances bringing these types of selections home to try without a risk of large expense, I was very pleased and feel that these types of items bring a nice gourmet touch to an otherwise bland dinner menu at home. I'm looking forward to looking for those particular items from now on. When it comes to the other international goods, they just don't taste as good to me for some reason. Like they are foods discovered in an century old European bomb shelter. I've tried the Belgium chocolate and banana chips or breads and just can't get over some reminder of moth balls they could have been stored in. I don't know, I can't force myself to continue to try to give those things another chance. The cheeses, produce, meats and frozen items are good. Canned goods are hit and miss. They have the housewares and kitchy things down the middle aisle that are neat and well priced. During the holidays, you can find nice gifts to have for unexpected occasions like fancy chocolates or hot cocoa. Keep in mind that the flavor does not really remind me of Belgium chocolate for some reason. Maybe it's just me that hasn't had what a true one is! Check out is seamless. Sometimes they have certain items on sale, and when they do stock up. I prefer Aldi, Lidl, and Trader Joe's more though. Being a single dad, they are more in my price range. To be fair grocery stores don't have large profit margins, but my wallet votes first.
