The cake
Chloe P.

Bakery employee was very polite and made my dad a beautiful birthday cake that I had placed almost a month in advance. However the cake tasted stale and the icing tasted like plastic. We were all extremely disappointed being that Harris Teeter cakes are fresh and delicious!

Stop by the meat case it will be LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.

I'll bet the out of whack economy this year has something to do with it but let's not waste any time: HT STEAKS ARE 100% the BEST VALUE! RECENT SALES OF Ribeyes and Strip Steaks allowed me to buy: NEAR PRIME ANGUS STEAKS FOR $9! Get them thick; pan seared and finished in the oven. Break out your best reds for these babies. I've frozen them and still enjoy full flavor; great marbling and tenderness. You'll even chow down on the gristle!

Good clean Harris Teeter. Although they have some of the same products at Wegmans for several dollars cheaper.

Parallel's creative brunch menu caught my eye, so my wife and I decided to check it out with some…read morefriends on a Saturday morning. We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations.

Our first to this local wine and whiskey bar. We had read about their "crazy" hour and "happy…read morehour". The crazy hour was excellent. The drink and food specials were not to be missed. Our fantastic bar server was Abby. She joked about trying everything on the menu... and we almost did. Short of maybe one or two items, we did enjoy all the food. The drink pours really weee generous and the selection of crazy hour wines knocked it out of the park. Ambiance- well lots of outdoor space and garage door walls made it well lit and enjoyable. It's easy to slide from crazy hour to happy hour because of the food, drink and service.

Sat at the out door patio bar, the bartender was really good. They were very fast and very knowledgeable about the products they serve. I will definitely be back.

This spot came…read moreup as "nearby" during a Yelp search (it is in a bit of an odd spot in what looked like a business complex. There there is an Olive Garden nearby so it isn't out by itself, even if it feels like it. The weather was beautiful, so we grabbed a high top in the bar area, overlooking a nice little pond behind the restaurant. The service in the bar was surprisingly good, despite the bar itself being pretty crowded and nearly every table around it being populated. The food was served quickly and they allowed us to customize to our liking (TIP: pay the nominal upcharge to replace your existing side dish to Brussels sprouts with bacon and spiced pecans! Or get it as a side to share) I had the Hickory Grilled Hanger Steak with mashed potatoes and a field greens salad, except no potatoes. The salad was amazing (it has dates in it for a sweetness to balance the sour of the dressing) and the medium rare steak was phenomenal. We each had a glass of beer -- the Pale Face Summer Wheat on draft. It is a classic German Hefeweizen and described as "malty with banana and clove flavors." I tested the banana on my first sip. It was a solid choice. The next day, we worked a 15 hour day without stopping to eat. By the time we finished, we were so tired that we agreed to return. I ordered the same steak and my coworker followed my recommendation. He agreed that this is the steak to order. (even if he ordered his more well done than mine). For the second visit, we ordered the bread pudding for dessert instead of beer with dinner. I suggest splitting the dessert. Don't get me wrong, it was fantastic, but was definitely shareable after a full steak meal.
