A mess is what it is

I dont get it. This is pentagon city, the most affluent area in arlington, yet the harris teeter here is the messiest one I've been to in Northern VA. It's disgusting. During a pandemic there are no wipes. Get a grip. Clean the place up. Ridiculous. This should be the cleanest harris teeter around. There is no reason you can't be as clean as whole foods.

This is one of the grocery stores closest to my home but yet I dont frequent it often for various reasons. The produce is the biggest issue I find. Its not always fresh or good quality. Very disappointing because I have been to other Harris Teeter's and ts completely different. This needs to be looked into. Its not fair to be subjected to this. Occasionally I go to Giant nearby on Columbia pike and whole foods (overpriced). But this is not correct. I was there Sunday morning buying a few things and decided to buy some Pillsbury cookie dough. The chocolate chip cookies were fine, but all the sugar cookies had expired. I was in the store on 26th May and the cookie dough expired on 9th May! Unbelievable. Very disappointing. I informed a staff member to learn if they had some in the back that were not expired and was tol d the delivery truck for that morning was late. I stopped in again today to buy the sugar cookie dough and the same ones expired are still there. Very disappointing. Get your act together Harris Teeter, especially at these prices!

Empty shelfs/racks at the Harris Teeter grocery store #83 located at 900 Army Navy Drive, Arlington VA.

This is the second time in the span of a month "from June to July 2022" that I have visited this Harris Teeter grocery Store located near Pentagon mall at 900 Army Navy Drive, Arlington VA, store #83, and not only were shelfs and racks empty of grocery food items, but majority of the fresh food items appeared old and staled...as if they hadn't been change or replaced in weeks; I was there yesterday July 10, 2022. Additionally, if you are using your bank debit card with a master-card log to make purchases, just know that you will be required to enter your bank ATM card pin as appose to being able to process it as a credit-card due to such credit-card logos attached to your bank debit-cards; I have found that this issue is with all Harris Teeter grocery stores in the region; I guess they discriminate against mastercard logo, therefore banks need to stop using mastercard logo instead visa. I live in DC and at times when I am around the Pentagon city mall area, I tend to stop at some retail stores in the area.

A big Harris Tester with many great products. Staffs are really helpful. One tip, You should park in front of the building, if you do not want to pay for it. I parked my car in the garage and found it was empty. Ah, huh! Everybody parks outside for a short time for free.

It's well-stocked, very conveniently-located (right next to Pentagon Row and Pentagon City Mall), and has tons of fresh food.

I don't like the idea of state run stores. But, if you're in Virginia, that it what it is. This…read morestore does a pretty good job of balancing having a broad selection and having a deep selection in certain popular categories. It doesn't have the best selection of bourbon or of Irish whiskey among the ABCs, but it has a solid selection of each where you can almost always find something good. The selection of brandy/congnac is limited but it has options. If you want to go out of your way to find a specific bottle, this might not be your place, but if you're looking to buy a range of bottles for home use, a party, etc., you can find a satisfactory offering here. And, the people who work at this store are nice people who can be helpful if you ask.

It's caddy corner of the Hilton Crystal City, and it's about the size of a larger studio apartment (aka IT'S SMALL). We went there searching for White Claw ( cause of course we did), and found out that they don't have any beers for sale. They don't have any wines for sale either. Is this a thing in VA? I know beers and wines are in like supermarkets and stuff, but do they not have them in the liquor stores too? Either way, good news was that they did have tonic water and a few mixers. Picked up some tonic for my gin, and then headed across the street where I found White Claw in a 7-11 of all places. So, would definitely recommend this place is your in search of Liquor ( and it's a pretty mainstream brand) as the selection is not huge.

The shop is super clean and has a modern, welcoming energy that works whether you're grabbing a quick treat or sitting down for a full meal. I love the spacious vibrant design of this place, plenty of seating and standing area. I came for the donuts but stayed for the quality. I tried the Black Forest Vegan Donut, and it was soooooooooo delicious. Sometimes vegan pastries can be hit-or-miss with texture, but this one was spot on... rich, flavorful, and definitely a must-try. I wish they have a few more options for vegan donuts though. I had try Kings Hot Cocoa with Oatmilk, so happy they have non-dairy milk substitutions available. I love that they use housemade cocoa here. It's a more sophisticated version of hot chocolate, definitely more bitter than sweet, next time I will ask for chocolate sauce to be added to off balance the bitterness. It's rich and authentic, not that powdery artificial stuff you find at chains. I was surprised by their huge variety. Beyond the wall of donuts, they have a full breakfast menu, plus happy hour and drink specials. It seems like a great place to transition from a morning coffee to a late afternoon cocktail. They also have a rewards program, which is a no-brainer to sign up for if you live in the area with just your phone number. The staff was very nice and patient while I was deciding (it's hard to choose when everything looks so good!). The whole place is very well-kept and feels like a spot where they actually care about the details. The only slight hurdle is the parking situation. It's paid street parking, and it can be a bit of a challenge to find an open spot nearby. Just give yourself a few extra minutes to circle the block or be prepared to walk a short distance it's def worth it!

Against that yardstick, Portofino was really rather decent offering excellent service and fare that while not "Nonna caliber" was surprisingly good.
