Such friendly staff. Really enjoyed our experience here. I didn't think they'd have cider but they have city roots cider here and actually some vegan/vegetarian options for food! I was really shocked! The City Roots Pumpkin Cider was great-on the dry side which I really like I don't like sweet ciders so I was very happy about this. The location is convenient, she said you're allowed to bring dogs outside when it's comfortable enough weather to sit outside. What a great setting! We stumbled on this one by accident and it was really an amazing venue. Pizza oven, games, restaurant, great beers, large shop for souvenirs and beer. Wow what an amazing place! Upon arrival on a late August day, there was live music, multiple cornholes available to play, jenga, a life-size chess game, and more! Everyone was friendly and many people had dogs and young children outside. We ate inside and weren't sure what we wanted to drink. The server let us try two different hard ciders (both we're great!). We ended up ordering a pumpkin ale and pumpkin hard cider, as well as nachos to split. They were delicious! Since it was a beautiful day out, after we finished we asked if we could finish our drinks outside. Waitress brought us two plastic cups to take outside. Ended up playing a fun game of cornhole! Great place (pre-covid), the food is creative and original, and the beers are always good quality. But it's definitely a different environment in 2020- the lines are long (like you want to be stuck in a tight crowd these days) the brewery tours are closed, and the staff is high strung and testy. You MUST have a reservation. If you get takeout food? Don't even THINK ABOUT taking a seat. We ordered pizzas to go and some tap beers while we waited. We had the audacity to sit at an empty table to drink our beer while we waited, and the hostess needed to come evict us, and make us stand and stare at the empty table we we occupying (there were other empty tables available- she was just being a .... ). So- bring your money, but be prepared to be treated poorly if you didn't call ahead way in advance. I understand that if you need tables for people that reserved them, but kicking out paying customers, when you don't have anyone that needs the table? There was a way to handle that, and THAT wasn't it. read more

The beer is just ok. The space outside is pretty nice, but the food is what brought the rating down. I got a fairly mediocre BLT with a small smattering of fries...like they couldn't spare at least a handful. We also got the special which was a buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. This tasted absolutely nothing like buffalo sauce. It was pretty misleading. I'm not exaggerating when I say we were handed a small bowl that was maybe 8 oz worth of Mac and cheese (and nothing along with it) for $10. It was barely a side dish let alone a full meal. My friend loves Harpoon beer and cider and lives down the way from the brewery, so naturally a visit was on the itinerary for the weekend. Harpoon offers brewery tours on select days and times. I highly recommend the tour- it's $5 and the employees are so friendly and well-informed. My two friends and I were the only ones there at 5:15pm on a Friday, so it felt like we got our own private tour. You learn about how their beer is made, get to walk through the facilities, taste finished and unfinished beer, and at the end, try whatever you want that's available on tap. We got to taste their new seasonal spring offerings. And bonus: you get to take a small glass with you as a souvenir. So worth the $5!!! Afterward, we had dinner in the restaurant. The food here is pretty good- lots of burgers, grilled cheeses, and good ol' American food options. They even have suggested drinks to go along with each meal, which can make picking a beer or cider a whole lot easier. The vibe is super cozy and family friendly. Lots of people were there with kids. Harpoon is such a cool company and is actually employee owned. Visiting the brewery was definitely one of the highlights of my trip- can't recommend it enough! read more

Was there around 6:30 Friday July 26. It was crowded. Food took an hour. No one came before that time to say sorry or tell us it was going to be that long. Tacos were cold, burger was lukewarm and salmon sandwich was smothered in mayonnaise. Breweries should stick to beer. The beer was fine. The prices were also OK but waiting an hour for cold food was bad. The menu needs to have less or more staff is needed. Maybe the kitchen is too small. Regardless, I cant recommend anyone eat there. Definitely the better of the two harpoon brewery locations. There are four sets of Cornhole outside with an outdoor seating area and separate bar (limited choices). It was raining when I went, but I've also heard that there is a bar on the river so people can visit via kayaks! Inside there is a bar a mile long (I think it seats around 30 people) with information about the beverages on tap and how to "properly" taste beer. While I only tried the Poutine, I was sitting near the door to the kitchen and saw/smelled the other dishes coming out and wow they smelled and looked delicious! The Poutine was also great; it's made with local cheese curds which I think made it tastier. They have three options for beer flights, 2 predetermined options or a 3rd option to create your own ($2 per pour). I created my own and loved it. You get 4x6oz pours in a flight so I had a hard time picking the four I tried. There was a fifth I had wanted to try, and the bartender was nice enough to give me almost a half pour of it without charging me! Awesome!! Definitely recommend visiting, or maybe spending an afternoon! And try the hibiscus cider - it's so unique and yummy! read more

While visiting some good friends in Vermont this summer, I was taken to the impressive annual Harpoon Brewery barbecue which features a huge selection of barbecue vendors from throughout New England, live music and separate lines for each of Harpoon's tasty locally brewed beers. Admission to the barbecue was $15 which included one beer. Additional beers were $5 each. Being that they only transported the beer about 20 feet, I'd have expected refills to be a bit cheaper but quality-wise, it doesn't get any fresher! I did not have a chance to tour the brewery but the festival was a blast! Great ribs, great beer, good country music and beautiful summer weather - so I'm definitely a fan! read more

One of my favorite stops when visiting the future in-laws in Vermont! Harpoon not only serves up delicious beer, but they also have pretty darn good pub grub. This past Thanksgiving visit, the boy and I shared a UFO sampler, which included a raspberry UFO, Hefeweizen, winter white, and pumpkin beer. I was really into the pumpkin, with it being fall and all, but I also enjoyed the raspberry and the white. I wasn't such a fan of the Hefeweizen, but that's just personal taste preference. For food, I went with the spicy black bean burger, sans the bun, and I was super pleased with the result. It was a meaty patty (although without any actual meat), topped with lettuce, onion, tomato, and accompanied by a mustard sauce and a juicy dill pickle. Oh, and I opted for a side of cole slaw since a side salad wasn't an option. For brewery fare, I was super impressed. Was it gourmet? No way. But was it way better than expected? Absolutely. I knew the beer would be good, hence our reason for going, but the food was tasty was an added bonus! If you happen to be in this corner of the country, I definitely recommend popping in to Harpoon. I love this place. Its such a nice atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Tons of events including Oktoberfest, BBQ competitions,and road races. Staff are always friendly. Food is amazing and of course they have every beer that harpoon produces there. You can buy prepackaged beer or get a growler/crowler with fresh beer out of the tap. The brewery tour isn't much to write home about, but its much more fun to eat and drink..so I'll forgive them. Love this brewery! My wife and I have been drinking these beers for years, so we were happy to check out their 2nd brewery in VT. We arrived there for a late lunch, but it would be a 40 minute wait. Luckily, the hostess suggested doing a tour for 45 minutes to kill time. They were nice enough to wait an extra few minutes before they started so we can buy tickets. The tour was awesome. We learned the history of Harpoon and got to taste some beers during, as well as after the tour. After the tour, my wife and I got a table. Our waitress was awesome and made us feel welcomed. I decided to get the Harpoon Ale as it is never bottled or canned. It was a decent amber ale. The food was delicious and hit the spot! The brisket nachos were great with a decent amount of brisket and cheese. The chicken sandwich I ordered was fresh/juicy and the breading was seasoned well. Loved this spot! I'm giving this place 5 stars because I've been on a few brewery tours and this has been the nicest so far. It's incredibly clean inside! I didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it looked like better than average bar food, and the space is nice and open. There's a small gift shop attached where you can buy all of their beers in addition to random t-shirts, etc. The tours are $5, and come with a souvenir glass. At the end, after using your glass to sample as many and as much of the beers you'd like, you can give the glass back to them, and they'll wrap you up a new one to take home (that way you don't have any "open containers" in your vehicle!). The tour was quite detailed and midway through they offered a sample of their unflitered IPA (which Hubby said, "looks like pee pee.") At the end, they pour you a glass of the filtered IPA, which was MUCH better, before releasing you to try the rest of their beers. My favorite was the hard cider, haha. :) It's kind of a ways away, but I'm glad we visited! Also, your GPS will send you to the back of the facility - don't be fooled! Stopped by here and there was some kind of bicycle race/event going on and this place was packed! Didn't do the tour or sit down for food because of all the people but I still snagged a spot at the bar to try a few beers. All were excellent, with the White being my favorite...but I am on kind of a Belgian White kick lately. They didn't have any in bottles to take home so I ordered a pint and sat out by the fire they had going and enjoyed it there. This is a must stop if you are driving through, it's right off the interstate and shares a parking lot with a few other specialty stores. read more

Great atmosphere! You have to order a homemade pretzel when you go! Food was decent. Nothing spectacular but it was decent. Fries and sweet potato fries are awesome! Wish they carried soft drinks though. They do have a root beer that they brew that's pretty good. Will mostly likely be back next time we're in town. read more

They have a bar with some bar food you can order (which is pretty tasty for what it is). I love their beer. LOVE their beer so this place is a must stop for me any time I am in Vermont. Really cool area - had been once before for a BBQ festival many years ago during the summer months. Came back the other day for lunch on our way up to Burlington. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was pretty good, though not my favorite. The fries actually taste exactly like Burger King (which taste great, but not what I was expecting). The beers are good, but I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of their UFO Pumpkin beer (by comparison, I much prefer Shipyard's Pumpkin Ale). That being said, this is a great brewery that offers a good selection of food and they also have a fair amount of merchandise (shirts, etc.) for sale. read more
