Cody Deladurantaye, a former fighter, has made multiple repairs and upgrades to both floors of my house. He is unusually easy to work with, has excellent interpersonal skills, and is knowledgeable about all aspects of the job. Today he upgraded our residential circuit breaker box and put in new wiring and outlets for our washer dryer. I'm grateful to find a tradesman who is both excellent at his trade along with being patient with his customer. First let me be clear that their technician Jim was a very nice person and the work that we asked them to do (adding a 220 plug to our barn) was done well so far as I can tell. The problem is that Jim is very social and spent a lot of time talking as well as doing work we had not asked to have done. I asked ONLY for the 220 plug to be added and requested a quote and was told that they didn't like to give them but ballpark if all goes well $180 ... that it would take about 1 hour at $80/hour + $100 for parts something like that. However because of chatting and socializing and taking on tasks he was not asked to do the tech was here for 2.5 hours. He took it upon himself to relabel our entire electrical panel and charged me the hourly rate for it... it took him 1 hour so $80 added to my bill. When he Brought the ticket for me to sign it was for more than double what they had quoted me. Partly this was because we needed to add some kind of double breaker switch which I agreed too and was willing to pay for but on the day of the service the tech told me that $80 was for the 1 hour he had spent re-labeling my fuse box. At that time I said well I'm not signing this because I don't have an extra $80 laying around and I did not want the fuse box relabeled and if you had asked if I wanted that and let me know what the cost would be I would absolutely have declined because anyone can relabel a fuse box themselves they don't need to pay a professional to do it. He said he understood and left with the unsigned bill. I was waiting for a call from the owner to discuss in further detail but it never came I did however begin receiving collections calls from his secretary. Finally I spoke with Bryan the owner I assume who insulted me, threatened me, swore at me and continued to insist that it was my word against his that the tech had only spent 20 mins on the box and that the rest of the $407 invoice was for I don't even know what. Long story short I called and received a $180 ballpark quote but then was charged $407 accused of lying, threatened with small claims court if I didn't pay in full and sworn at. Dealing with them was like being in an SNL skit. I called to see if they could fix an electrical problem we have at a residential house. The receptionist (not too bright with a loud voice and poor customer service skills) went into this long explanation about how they don't estimate and that we have to know what the problem is for them to do the work. I paused and said I'm happy to pay for them to identify the problem. More long explanation....Really? So, the problem is, I'm not an electrician...I thought they were. So I'm looking elsewhere. I have always been impressed by the skill and professionalism from Harper. I was shocked when I got a bill from them for $156 for 15 minutes of work for labor only. The work I had done by them in the past was a fraction of the price. I recommend shopping around before hiring this company in the future. read more

I've used Harper for a few small jobs. Outdoor high voltage outlet for an EV and some miscellaneous interior work to install new outlets, install some lights and fix some wiring issues with my old house. The two electricians I've dealt with were very competent and good problem solvers. The work was billed as expected and came in less than quotes from others in town. Their electrician Jim was out on Sept 12th and did a beautiful job swapping lines on my electrical box to free up a 30 amp fuse. He used that fuse to install a dedicated electrical whip to the site where an elevator is getting installed. Everything is done neatly, safely and labeled. Nothing but good things to say about using Harper Electric for the first time. I had a couple small jobs that needed attention (replace a bad circuit breaker & re-wire an outlet so both plugs were hot all the time instead of one that had been on a wall switch) and, despite saying they were booked about two weeks out, they were here within 24 hours as I had them put me on a "call" list for any sudden gaps in their schedule. The work was done efficiently and well and since they were here anyway, I had them do a couple other things (i.e., added an additional light bulb fixture in a storage room). Those were completed well in a speedy manner. The end fee was fair. I will call them again. read more

I had a fairly good experience with my first job from Harper Electric. The electrician was all business. He arrived did the job and left, I can't think of his name. My next job was an electrician called Jim. Yes, Jim lolligagged quite a bit at this job but I was pleased with his work all in all and paid the 800 dollar bill for the 8 hours he spent in my house without fuss. Then came a 3rd job. Harper Electric suggested sending 2 guys so that they would spend half the amount of time. This was after I told them what I needed done. The 2 guys came, Rick and somebody else. One worked while the other hung out. I did not time them, but I would go to my grave knowing that these men did not spend 8.5 hours in my house. Other members of my household who habitually return at 4pm were not back by the time they left. They came 930ish, took lunch and I was billed 1500 dollars for these 2 men coming to my house and doing work that was to last half that time. I called the office this time to complain. The owner Brian called me back and immediately launched into a defense of the electricians. Brian did not ask me what my grief was, why did I think I was overcharged. He called and as soon as I answered he went on the defense and yes he was insolent as well. Eventually, I managed to question how 2 guys could spend 8.5 hours doing work that was approximately as much as Jim did when he came. Brian decided to look through both bills and get back to me. He called me 2 days later in the same insolent defensive mode. I decided we needed a third person to arbitrate. Harper Electric starts off good and gets worse with each subsequent use. So if you are looking for a place where you would be appreciated as a returning customer don't go there. I think they have other objectives which cloud the appreciation they could have for a returning customer. Such appreciation does not even feature on their horizon. In my case, the only thing that was missing from this stint is a gun. It doesn't matter the assault is the same and I feel it. read more

The electricians I have communicated with at Harper are Professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They explain everything clearly that actually makes sense to one who doesn't know too many things about the job. They made me feel very comfortable that I can trust them and the work they do. I had them explore a difficult wiring issue which then did and charged me very fairly for the work.

I had them install power for a bathroom vent fan and move one switch. The guy said it was going well but it took 5 1/2 HOURS when I talk to someone at the shop to schedule they said it would take 2 hours. SO SO expense for a fan and I could have move the light switch. lesson learned. update talk to the owner agreed to refund part of my payment and I still haven't received it. read more

I called them four times to have someone do some upcoming work on my home. The first time I spoke with the estimator I went over the work with him on the phone; he said they could handle it. About three weeks later I called back 3 times to speak with the estimator. He never returned my phone call and in fact, just crossed me off their list, according to their phone person.
