We tried a few beers from Five Wits and per her recommendation got the creamsicle shake as well. Solid beverage choices. The shake tasted part float part milkshake and it was absolutely delicious. Would order again. The food on the other hand was a bit eh. We ordered the Asian q burger and the mushroom melt burger and it took quite a while for them to come out and when they did they had unfortunately been left on the grill for way too long and were charred and crunchy. One set of our fries was cold and the bun to burger ratio was extremely off. Luckily, the staff agreed that our burgers were accidentally overcooked and they remade them no questions asked. The remade burgers were moist and better but still not fantastic. They were just burgers with minimal toppings on them. Not really seasoned and the flavor came from the toppings themselves. The buns were still too big for the burgers so there was a lot of extra bread and they have potential to be great but they were just average. Would have probably been a three star review but the staff and drink selection really earned the extra star. Would go back to drink and maybe snack but probably not order a burger.

It was pretty busy (in no small part due to the size of our group), and the owners were so gracious and kind. I love visiting…read morerestaurants off the beaten path. :) About 10 minutes north of Scottsboro, this little place feels like home when you step inside. Honestly, it sort of looks like home from the outside, too! There's a sweet memorial for a dog who has passed near the front door, honoring their favorite spot, which I thought was precious. Even though I popped in only like 35 minutes til close, I was welcomed warmly and not rushed. Their menu has American classics like hamburgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, hot dogs, onion rings, fries, etc. It seems like burgers are the main attraction here, though, so I got their take on a mushroom and Swiss burger (my fav) and some French fries. The sweet tea I had to drink was perfectly refreshing and quite sweet, just the way I like it. I do remember thinking the total was a touch high for a single patty, fairly thin burger, but it is what it is. At least it was clearly fresh and high quality, which is much more than you can say for fast food. Like I said, food was cooked fresh but still came out to me in a timely manner. Heck, the fries were still so hot I burned my mouth a teeny bit! I was just trying to eat and get out of their hair before closing, so my bad there haha. Frozen-fried crinkle cuts but they were nice and crispy. My biggest complaint about the whole experience was the salt was sort of just thrown on them in a pile at the top. So a few fries were extremelyyyyy salty and others not at all. The burger was, as expected, the star here! Cooked about medium-well, it was still plenty juicy despite the relative thinness of the patty. The mushrooms and Swiss cheese were so buttery and melty together. They add bacon to their mushroom and Swiss and honestly I could take it or leave it. Some of it wasn't as crispy as I prefer, and I think the mushrooms add the extra savory punch so bacon makes it a little heavy, but I'm honestly nit picking here. It was a very yummy burger. I very much enjoyed myself. This is the kind of spot my folks would love, so I hope to bring them back in the future, and also to come try the delightful-sounding Moon Pie banana pudding!

Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside. We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. Wife enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese whilst I was mesmerized by how subtle and uber smooth my Old Fashioned was. We unwinded and talked about our day here in this city and then our next meal plates arrived. I had the very unique and well presented Beet Ravioli and the wife had the exquisite Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. Immediate upon arrival to our table my wife and I exchanged a bite of each other's plates to give a chance for our taste pallets to experience one another. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. Towards the end, I saved the location at the name of the restaurant, as I would like a near future to come back and visit with more time. Jonathan was an absolute help for our satisfaction in Chattanooga and we are thankful.

So on my first mainland trip in a couple years, I have been trying different burger shops. Jack Brown's had really high reviews, had a super fun vibe, and a really creative menu, which I love. Service was on point. Let's get the elephant out of the room right now - the size. lol I was prepared for a small burger from all the reviews, but, Shake Shack has a small burger, Jack-in-the-Box has a small burger. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight and the dog. But I ain't gonna lie, that is one tiny burger! It's like...five bites? One for each corner, and then the middle. lol They might be better off coring the middle, and marketing them as hamburger donuts. The easy fix is just order an extra patty for a few bucks more. Same as Shake Shack. The other thing I have a problem with is the, "we don't do lettuce or tomato..." line. Sorry, that's like a pizza with no toppings. Really, it just sounds like they found a way to reduce overhead by not having to prep and pay for vegetables. But whatever... if great burgers can be made without lettuce and tomato, and without a big patty...let's get it on. I'm sorry, but that patty was charbroiled to the point of no juice. This is where a tomato might help with moisture. lol I don't see how this is actually Wagyu. A Wagyu burger should be melting in my mouth. I don't know what happened, but it reminded me of my first job at Burger King, running whoppers through the flame broil conveyor belt. If you got one that just came out, you scored big time. But if you got one that just sat in the warmer for 10 minutes, you got a dry burger. It was a very disappointing burger. Then again, I just had a Shake Shack burger yesterday, and it was nomnom greasy goodness. Of course I was going to be disappointed. It's like Ozzy Osbourne following up Slipknot as the opening act. The fries were great. They came in a huge basket, and the price was very reasonable.
