The best part is definitely the setting--you can sit and watch tubers float down the river while you eat. Just keep in mind there are no fans or air conditioning, so it can get pretty hot... The menu posted on the food truck/website is not the full menu, so make sure to ask for the paper copy. They're known for the Buddha Burger and also have some healthier options. The food was okay for me, but if you love greasy smash burgers, you'd probably rate it much higher. One thing I didn't love was the pricing. Prices have increased, and there is an upcharge for paying by credit card that I didn't see mentioned on their website. There are also no fountain drinks--everything is bottled and purchased separately. Service was great. The person cooking and serving us was very friendly and genuinely eager to tell us about the food, the location, and their sister restaurant (Hoochee's River basket). Overall, I'd stop by again if I were already in the area, especially for a casual picnic-style meal with a nice river view. The atmosphere/location is really what makes it unique.

I especially like the atmosphere and the history of the house--it has a lot of charm and makes for a unique dining experience. Most of the food has been good, but the shrimp and grits were a definite miss for us. The flavor just wasn't there, and it's not something we would order again. Overall, I'd say this is probably one of the better places to eat in Dayton, especially since there aren't a lot of restaurants in the area that consistently offer higher-quality food. The biggest reason I can't rate it any higher is the service. We've had the same waitress both visits, and unfortunately, she just hasn't been friendly or welcoming. Dining out, especially at these prices, is about more than just the food. You want to feel like your business is appreciated, and we've walked away both times feeling more like an inconvenience than valued customers. That said, we'd still consider going back because the atmosphere is enjoyable and most of the food has been good. I'm hopeful that a different server--or a more welcoming service experience--would make a noticeable difference.

The space is tight but at least it is all angled making getting into and out of the spaces much easier. I did not notice any handicapped spaces but the lot is small and paved so travel is pretty easy. There are several signs on the exterior wall cautioning to lock your vehicle as they are not responsible for stolen items but nothing appeared nefarious. Seating is a combination of booths and tables plus several stools along the counter to the right. We seated ourselves and the server came by quickly for our drink orders and dropped off the menu. The menu is pretty extensive with many options as well as the ability customize anything. We decided on the Cleveland special and the Western omelet. With a cup of coffee, this came to about $24. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive. The first thing noticed is the biscuits are huge. They are easily the size of a saucer. They are a bit crumbly but that makes them great for covering in gravy. The eggs were cooked as ordered, the gravy was very good, and the sausage appears to be locally sourced. The omelet was also huge and completely filled. The veggies were sautéed perfectly and made for a great meal. The service was just fine but could have been better. I had asked if the sausage was locally sourced and the waitress did not know. She never came back to let me know if she had an answer. I had to ask twice for a refill and eventually waved down a different server. We also needed to ask twice for jelly packets. While not terrible by any means, it was unusual for what we expect from these type local restaurants which seem to pride themselves on great service as well as great food. This little diner is a must stop for a great meal. Just have a little patience with the service and you'll be glad you came.
