Great food and great service. We aren't usually in this area but if we find ourselves back this way we will definitely come back. I loved the beer selection as well as their food read more

Clean fresh decor farm style Friendly service Bar is fun to watch any game Dining room is nice and airy with pretty fireplace Food is yummy nicely presented and quite fresh I recommend the clams casino - some of the best I have ever had Steak eggrolls appetizer was outstanding Def order the Doobs wings are very good they make their own dry rub Wings are juicy and flavorful Very good lemon drop martini and good healthy pour of Butter Chardonnay Plentiful selection of beer on tap to chose from You can't go wrong here Every thing about this was both fun and satisfying- the very reason for dining out! read more

Great meal, excellent service. The wings....get the door wings, they are the best! Also t4ied the steak and cheese egg rolls and they were delicious! Crunchy and packed with flavor. Will definitely be back! read more

Just opened, food was good, service good, nothing to get excited about yet, will go back to try more menu items.

Visited for lunch yesterday for the first time & were very disappointed. Atmosphere was beautiful but food left much to be desired. After waiting over 45 minutes from ordering, our appetizer came with the meal and my husband's Rueben was on toast (hard as a rock) vs grilled with no dressing. My salad was tasty, but a lot of wilted lettuce. Saw many others questioning why there meals were taking so long...definitely not a place for a quick lunch. read more

It was long wait for food, even though the place was empty.Mashed potatoes were cold when we got them, the crispy chicken for their salads is more like a chicken nugget texture. Not terribly impressed. read more

we were seated at 5 pm. only ones other there than one guy at the bar . we could see 2 or 3 employees and we were 8 feet from the bar 15 min before anyone acknowledged us we asked the bartender for a drink from our table. same happened to another couple about 20 minutes after that they sat at a booth. No one showed up so they moved over to the bar. my wifes salmon was good. i had a cobb salad that was good but i had crispy chicken added that was way over cooked snd dry , i think it was cooked before at some point then back in the fryer to heat it up , service was good when they first opened . there were lots of people there, but no one seemed to wanna come over when we were in Plain view disappointing read more

As nice as the bar staff were, the food was only ok. Even though they supposedly had permit for alcohol none was available. Ordered the lobster stuffed mushrooms and they were minuscule, cold and tasteless. Even the staff concurred that they were not what they should be. Nachos were laden with cheese that was barely melted and the chips were not even warm. This was a lunch visit and there really was not anyone there so not sure why the food was subpar. To be fair they gave me a dessert free to take home. I am hopeful they'll work out the early kinks. read more

My wife made reservations for us, her two sisters and husbands and her brother and wife for Sunday April 7th two months in advance. We requested a table by the fireplace. we were told that would be no problem. Two days before April 7th my wife called to confirm our reservations and make sure our table was by the fireplace. We were told we were all set. On that Sunday we all arrived at the restaurant. When we went in side the girl told us they did not have a table for us because they had to give ours away to another group that had arrived earlier with out reservations. They had one table left in the bar in the corner. We would have had to crowd ourselves around a small table in the loud bar. When we objected and told the girl we had confirmed reservations she could care less. We walked out. Two days later my wife called and talked to someone about what had happened. They did apologies and said a manager would give us a call. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. We never received a call. read more

Anthony went above and beyond to help me fix a misunderstanding with my take out order. Great service and refreshing to have someone take an extra step to help solve it. He even offered to drive to me personally to bring a gift card. Thank you Anthony! read more

Had a horrible all around time last night. It too almost 3 hours to eat mediocre food at best. 1. 45 minutes to get 6 wings and s salad. The salad came out undressed, asked 3 people for dressing, never got it, ate it dry. 2. My Medium Rare burger was so over cooked and dry.....cold fries. Ordered them crispy. 3. Owner doing shots and drinking beer at the bar....telling his friends how much money he had in his trading account....if you must kniw $30k. 4. Employees off the clock still in uniform taking up bar seats getting drunk at the bar. Good luck! read more

Good pub food, plenty of options of places to sit; bar area, large dinning room and seasonal outdoor dinning.

My wife called in this order for me to pick up on my way home from work. I get there after 20 min and I pay for the food and I have to wait for my order of 12 wings and fries. No big deal. I am waiting 15min while the hosts go back to the kitchen to check on my order twice and on the third time finally I get my food and leave. I figured the wings were gonna be hot and fresh because I was waiting so long for something that doesn't take that long to throw into a friar. I was wrong. My wings were warm but not hot and I received a toddler's portion of fries that were also warm but not hot or fresh. So what was I waiting on? read more

My previous review of Hard Hat voiced my concern over the overly salted meal I had. I am happy to say that I found this problem was addressed when I returned yesterday. My meal of chicken, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts was delicious. It is really rewarding to know that the staff reads the reviews and makes changes based on customers' opinions. I will certainly be back! read more

We stopped for lunch on a Thursday and sat at the bar. The service was very good, an the lunch was outstanding. We highly recommended giving it a try! read more

The food is always good for bar food. The Doob wings are always good! This was probably our 5 or 6th time in. The service was off by a lot tonight! Wasn't a full bar nor a full restaurant but it took a while to get our first round of drinks. When we ordered another round the waitress said "sure" came back five minutes later to see if we needed anything! No drink in hand! We responded with "yes our drink order". She said "oh. That's right ". No sorry or any form of apology. Came back to the table with the beer and an attitude. But I was in keeping with the girl who brought us our nachos who was put out by our asking for more napkins and a fork. Eating out is our form or relaxing. If my husband wants and attitude with dinner we can just stay home! I have never left less than 25% for a tip. Tonight was the exception! Do better Hard Hat!! read more

What a great restaurant. Hard Hat you are off to a great start. Loved the valet option given prior parking issues. Service was OUTSTANDING they were friendly and attentive...way better than I expected. Martini was perfect. The food was outstanding my steak cooked perfectly the doob wings were all they were cracked up to be. This was an excellent experience. So excited to finally have a great restaurant for Middlefield and Durham. Great job Hard Hat!!!! read more

Service was ok. Food was great .... Well the dinners that came out correctly. 7 of us at the table 6 ate, two salads came out wrong and a set of wings. Just ate the wings but sent salads back. One came back correctly other was supposed to be no blue cheese and looked liked they took topping and put on a new salad cause still had blue cheese on the salad. Then ordered a quesadilla instead with blackened chicken and no olives came out with fried chicken and bacon just didn't say anything at that point and only ate one piece. Manager came over after salad was taken back and apologized said salad was taken off and a round of drinks for Table never came back after. Only 3 drinks of a round were taken care off. But just paid and left. Great potential but kitchen needs to get it together read more

I went back with my family for my son's birthday. The manager made sure our wings came out fresh and the food was great

We live right up the road and tried this spot for the first time last night. We almost left at first since we noticed they had valet parking, and we drive a large truck and aren't comfortable having anyone park it. However, the guys directed us to a parking spot so we were able to park it ourselves right in front. We were greeted quickly and warmly and seated at a bar table right away. It took our server a while to make it over to our table, but she was sweet and took our drink order. The drinks also took quite a while to make it to our table. We ordered our food, and they were out of the yellow fin tuna, which was crushing since I was so excited they had it on the menu. She gave us some time to decide on a plan B, but also took a very long time to come back. Beer selection is great, but the mixed drinks we ordered were made very light and were terrible. I work at another local restaurant and am very kind to servers as I know how the industry works. However, this was just disappointing. The waits were too long, drinks were terrible, and although the food was good, it just didn't blow us away to crave it to come back again. read more

Got the order wrong. Worst pizza I've had in this area. A meatball pizza with only four meatball slices? The cheese steak rolls were tasty but very insignificant for the price. The food is very expensive and the service is very slow. Was not worth the drive to Durham from Middletown. We will not be going back. read more

Worst food I have ever had! Everything was frozen! Had the fish and chips special which was 2 pieces of frozen fish

Womp. Came here to enjoy my day off and it wasn't busy, I asked the bartender for another drink but he was too busy texting. Customer service was poopy read more

I had a burger which was tasty. I have a pet peeve when the bun is soggy which is was, but it's kind of expected. Wish they're were more vegetarian options. read more

Food was great! the atmosphere of the restaurant is enjoyable and the staff is friendly.

Great food! Great atmosphere! Loved the valet parking idea! Bartenders are fantastic! Happy to have you in town

Pretty nice service! I went on a Wednesday afternoon at 3pm, and would say food came out timely. Beautiful decor all around! The best burger I have ever had in my life! I got an All-American burger with waffle fries. Very delicious and filling! Would come back however not at rush hour. read more

Excellent wings!! Great service they were fast! We sat in the lounge (bar) the high top tables were very comfortable!

The bartender is awful! Can't multitask very well. Takes care of the restaurant bar orders and completely ignored us for a good 5 mins. I didn't know what I wanted to drink at first so he got my husband and friends order and proceeded to ring it out. I said I know what I want to drink now. Do you have blue cheese stuffed olives. Right away he says no! I was like well can you make some up and he said no! Ok whatever I'll deal with it but have had them do this for me before there. Just too lazy to take that extra step for a customer. Then he proceeded to take a dinner order and get 4 other drinks for people. I said I think you forgot about me and he says. No I didn't forget! So how do you go on to take multiple orders while I'm sitting there without a drink! We were going to have dinner here but after this experience, we wanted to get out of there! I can say this is probably only the second review I've written on Yelp but wanted to make it known that the younger bartender is awful. Won't be back any time soon! read more

food was horrendous and looked like my mom made it and she has never cooked in her life. will never go back and very overpriced.
