My wife and I were in town for vacation with our two children after taking the ferry across Lake Michigan. we'd definitely go back. It was good. The service was outstanding and very friendly. The server Dani brought out coloring books and crayons for our kids without us asking and she checked in on us regularly to refill drinks. My wife and I both tried the house ale, which was good. We started out with bread and olive oil, sundried tomatoes and parmesean cheese, which was a nice touch from just offering butter. Salads came with the entrees my wife and I ordered. Probably the low point of the meal. Just OK nothing spectacular. I had the apple bourbon chicken, and my wife ordered the shrimp and crab au gratin while the kids both ordered pasta marinara off the children's menu. We were all very pleased with our dinners, which were huge portions. The apple bourbon chicken was served with a tasty cream sauce. The au gratin wasn't too cheesy and it had huge chunks of seafood. The kids' pasta marinara was flavorful. Good stuff. FYI, the menu is very big. Numerous entrees to pick from. We saw a server walk by carry a sizzling steak. Looked really good. The entrees are $15-$25 but worth it from our experience. Place looks a little old from the outside, but head on in. It's good food and good service. read more

The food was ok, but expensive. I wouldn't not recommend it, because it's just a normal restaurant and not bad. But i had to bump my rating down to 1 because of the creepy realistic mannequins in the bathrooms. Came to Manitowoc to see the Maritime Museum. After visiting we asked a local for food reccamendation. The lady at the counter suggested Harborside. Started out with a drink at the bar which was very good (I'm not really a drinker ). For dinner I had the steak and shrimp. My gf had shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. Both dishes were wonderful. Would go back again if not for the fact we live near Chicago. Gave 4 stars only because it took 45 minutes to be sat. Suggest a reservation if you plan to go. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised!! The outside of the building isn't much to look at, but walk though those doors! The service was great. The food out of this world. We had a stuffed flounder (daily special) that was excellent as well as the chicken/shrimp tortellini...fabulous. They served warm rolls with an olive oil/Parmesan/Romano/sundried tomato mixture that was incredible. Even the soup had great flavor. We will definitely go back!! read more

Harborside is where we stopped on our way to Door County for dinner. We wanted a full restaurant and preferred not to stop at one of the fast food places on the highway, so we drove into town and found Harborside. We were seated immediately without any reservations. the specials of the evening appealed to us and we both selected the 20oz steak. Wow, was this amazing. It was nicely done and filling. We really left stuffed. Overall, I would say this is a good restaurant and well worth the visit, especially if, like us, you prefer to sit down and eat casually rather than wolf it down. The food and service are both very good and we would certainly eat here again. While they have a full bar, we would also suggest if you are driving to Door County not to drink and drive. Portions, great. Prices, good. Food, fair. Service, fair. We had a drink at the bar when we arrived. Since there was only 1 other table seated we wouldn't have to wait for a table. Our waitress came over to the bar, gave us menus, and said our table was ready whenever we were. The bar area is kind of "supper clubish" and, like other reviews mention, the bartender was great. But the restaurant is a little cheesy. Something as simple as table clothes and nice silverware would have made all the difference. The silverware was so cheap, the fork bent when cutting the steak. An entire wall was filled with all of the "awards" they have received since 2009 (best steak, best prime rib, etc.). Ok I get that you're proud, but not exactly restaurant decor. And seriously, there are maybe 12 tables in the dining room, do you really need cheesy plastic table number cards on the tables??? When we sat down, she immediately asked what we decided to order. She did not go over the specials, ask if we had questions, or even ask if we wanted another drink. We waited about 15 minutes until she emerged with our rolls, salad and soup and I asked if we could order drinks. She was very friendly, but friendly does not make up for inattentiveness - - there were only two other tables taken by now and there were two waitresses for the other tables! Although the rolls were good, they were served cold! I couldn't believe it. You couldn't pop them in the oven for 10 minutes to warm and crisp them up?? We got the fried shrimp and the Sizzler to share (since they didn't offer surf-n-turf, we made our own). The steak had pretty good charred beefy flavor, although for a cut that thick it definitely lacked seasoning. There was a large vein of gristle through the steak, but not sure if they could have known that. And you can only order it rare or medium-rare - - we went for medium-rare and it was definintely medium WELL (barely pink). Had she ever come back we would have sent it back but how long are you supposed to wait when you're hungry and the other diner has their dinner? The shrimp, while it was a large portion, was clearly frozen breaded shrimp, not hand-breaded, and was heavy on the breading. We did not come here expecting a fine dining experience so we were not totally disappointed, but even considering that it was just OK. I think I would definitely try it again for lunch as the burgers are supposed to be great, but would not return again for dinner. read more

I stop in here frequently for lunch. Phenomenal service, great food and great cocktails. I highly recommend the lobster crusted ribeye!

Eight of us had dinner here and all of us thought our entrees were quite good. Most popular--and impressive--was their signature Beefeater sizzling sirloin (huge steak, well cooked, with sauteed mushrooms). Also very popular was the spicy cajun bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and the soup of the day, cheese/beer. We were less enthusiastic about the cheese curds app, since the nearby Courthouse restaurant serves extra good ones (but still, we ate every one). Also rather disappointing was the choice of desserts (no choice, really, just two varieties of cheesecake), but since all the entrees were quite substantial, no one had much appetite for dessert anyway. We've eaten here several other times over the years and recall several other quite good entrees so we're happy to recommend the place and expect to return again ourselves. read more

Just had lunch here. Sat at the bar and had a beer and a burger. Pretty good. The burgers are huge, but simple. Just the 1/2 pound patty, a bun that is a cross between a Sheboygan hard roll and a regular bun, and cheese. The guy I was with had a cup of lobster bisque which he really didn't like. His spoon stood up in the soup. Way too thick. Bartender was very nice and added to our enjoyment of the place. Will go back. read more

Traveling through Wisconsin and wanting to grab some good food we stumbled upon Harborside when another establishment was closed on Sundays. I'm glad we did- very Wisconsin supper clubby. Nice dark bar good music and a great waitress! I had a great Bloody Mary and a chaser my husband a harbor island brew. He had the burger between 2 grilled cheeses I had the patty melt! Fries were great burger awesome! Nice and charbroiled. Would return for sure. read more

I do not know who's writing reviews on here but I wonder why the parking lot is 1/2 empty, the restaurant is mostly empty on a WED during EEA in Oshkosh while you can't get into the Courthouse Pub. I'll wait 45 min at Courthouse Pub before I'd ever go back to Harborside. Note: Service was good but steak was a disgrace. read more

Wasn't impressed. Our waitress forgot us at the bar. Then she brought me the wrong meal. My fork was badly bent; I asked for a new one, but never received the replacement. My dish (I finally got the right one), Sicilian Sirloin and Scallops, had no flavor...or scallops. My husband's prime rib was barely warm. We won't go back there again. read more

Pretty good place for drinks and dinner. The appetizers were good but the entree's were OK.

Not impressed. Yuck. Meatballs were old -- crusty, marinara sauce was straight from a jar, and the noodles were cold. The steak was overcooked and tough. The server was very nice and great, but the food, not so much. We will not go back. The portions were WAY too big. Who needs to eat that much food??!! Yikes. read more

Their meat supplier should be ashamed to be in business! The cook knows how to cook but not make soup. We had three different soups - only one was edible. My red snapper was chewy, the steak was cooked to perfection but was awful quality(bent the fork trying to cut a rare steak!) the walleye was wonderful. Note to hostess - stand when customers come in and lose the heavily scented candle on your station. Note to waitress - bring out wine before serving soup. We won't be returning. read more

we got off the ssbadger ferry in august of 2014 & were looking for a good place to eat. we walked around & ask some people for recommendations & the harborside restaurant was mentioned. it was within walking distance from the ferry. couldn't really tell much from the outside, but inside were pleasantly surprised with mr. patrick's front desk check in. very much old school & you hardly experience that these days anymore. our waitress was tracie & very friendly & prompt & attentive. i started out with french onion soup, which was great. then we had the chicken wrap with bacon, lettuce & tomato. very tasty. best part was our dessert, chocolate banana torte ! it's been 3 weeks since we ate there, but we really miss the dessert . outstanding ! read more

Absolutely delicious walleye-Cajun spiced and pan fried! Hubby had plain pan fried-also delicious. Perfectly cooked and served with great garlic mashed potatoes & salad. Nice drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Friendly staff. Go here if you love walleye! read more

Had dinner at Harborside last weekend, and the food was great! The prime rib was melt in your mouth delicious and HUGE enough for 2 people. A very nice staff, food was cooked perfectly, and served in a timely manner. We'll be going back soon. read more

Sat in the bar area as it was cool and has as nice atmosphere. Our waitress was in another world. She was not friendly and appeared to be having a not so pleasant day. My wife have the chicken lime salad. The chicken was good, not not too muchnof it. The rest of the salad was a little lame. It was suppose to come with taco chips, however we had to ask for those. I had the walleye special. The fish was over cooked. While it was a special, it was not a bargain. We had been here before and enjoyed the place and food. We will not return. Hostess very rude. We were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait. That turned into a 65 minute wait. Hostess crossed us off of her sheet like we were already seated! Funny thing, we were seated...at the bar....right across from the hostess! When we brought it to her attention, she became very rude to us and tried to tell us that we were next to be seated. Funny but when we told her that people were coming in and getting seated right away and that we could see at least 2 tables open, she told us to leave. We made reservations on Christmas Eve for 8:30pm dinner. We attended church prior to going to Harborside, so had not been out anywhere else. I fell outside the restaurant and was very shaken by that fall. I fell hard on my knee and calf, tried to catch myself with my hand and rolled over on my butt. So, I went inside the restaurant, while my husband brought the car up to curbside, to cancel our reservation. Whomever was behind the reservation desk was cold and very inconsiderate. Even tho' I told her I had fallen and hurt myself and would be cancelling our reservation, I had to stand there for a few minutes to collect myself, she never asked things like, "Where did you fall, do we need to clear our sidewalks better? What did you hurt on your body, can we help in any way? NOTHING!!!" I didn't realize until we were driving home that I cut up my palm quite a bit and was bleeding. I shared my story with a good friend a day or two later and, by the description I gave of the lady behind the reservation desk, she thought that lady was probably the owner/wife of the owner. On Christmas Day, I shared my story with my two sons and my oldest one said, "You should have said, My lawyer will be in touch on Monday! Maybe that would have awakened the crab ass!" Sorry, this was the first time we were going to try Harborside, but with that kind of hospitality, I doubt we will ever go back again. If it was the owner/owner's wife, I'm sure you recognize this story and shame on you!. If you are a staff person, you should be released from your position! read more

Such a bad experience I don't know where to begin. Called ahead and specifically asked if they were serving prime rib on NYE. I was assured it would be the special of the evening so I made a reservation for two. Our reservation was for 7pm and we arrived at 635, however, the dining room was nearly empty. I asked if there was a wait, which I knew there was not and I was told we would be seated at our reservation time. Okay. We were seated at 7pm and, of course, my first question was regarding the prime rib which was NOT on the menu as promised. So, we chose the rib-eye dinner. The salad came and consisted of, well, lets just say you could count on your fingers the items on the salad plate. Then the meal arrived and I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a 4 by 6 inch piece of nothing more than grizzle and fat browned to perfection. I returned the dinner and informed them I would not pay for it. And, the owner/manager did even have the courtesy to come to our table and apologize. The people next to us on both sides also complained. One woman even stopped at our table and made a comment about the horrible food they were served. Never never never again. read more
