There are also other lovely things in the store that are not necessarily branded. Example, I really loved the rainbow tote made out of sweatshirt material and should've bought it! Ahhh...how easily the most simple plans go awry. In this case, I couldn't tear myself away from off-season Glen Lake and then got trapped here by the weather - it's December and I'm still here, sans appropriate outdoor gear. I did not pack for winter - I packed for fall and now I'm paying for it. We're talking plastic bags over my sneakers just to go outside due to the snow and the pipes freezing in the washing machine after I'd loaded 75% of our clothes in with soap. I'll go ahead and answer that question that is running through your mind even as I type; yes, I AM a complete idiot. What to do? Head into the Sportsman Shop in Glen Arbor. Although quite small, they have a great selection of high quality mens and womens coats, sweaters, shirts, long underwear, socks, foot gear, etc. at very reasonable prices. I've purchased a lovely, well made and much needed pair of boots for myself, some jammies & pants for the fella and we're set to go until the roads are safe to head back to Chicago. Good variety of Woolrich, Columbia, etc. in clothing and sporting gear for fishing and hunting and they even offer chartered fishing trips. Look for significant discounts after Thanksgiving - there are bargains to be had. Very friendly and helpful staff (I went in not knowing the fellas pants size and the incredibly nice saleslady helped me find a pair that fit him perfectly) and open year round to save dumb asses like myself from their ill conceived follies - I highly recommend this incredibly useful store.

She treats her workers awful and talks down to them like they are dogs. She seems to be on a power struggle and it's obvious that it is her age and insecurity. I know that finding employees is hard as no one is willing to work but she is what I find the bottom of the barrel. On another note the customer service at the front of the store lacks. Mostly on there phones and talking instead of doing there job. I have been there on many occasions and it never is different. I will not return I will be going to Dunham's or Cliff's in Clare. I can't stand by and watch her treat people with this disrespect.

I've nicknamed this store my upscale souvenir clothing store because it sets itself apart from your typical souvenir clothing store. They only carry clothing btw. The quality is average to more upscale. J America is my favorite brand especially in sweatshirts at this store. They carry more embroidered Charlevoix clothing which I much prefer versus just the stamped decal cheap style. The prices are reasonable and the service has always been excellent. The only problem I had this recent visit was some of the t-shirts and sweatshirts I liked fit bad and came from a third world country which had strange cuts and very boxy styles. Hubby and I still found plenty of clothing to buy in the store regardless. Other than that I would give it 5 stars. They do carry clothing made in the USA and a few other countries which I don't mind as long as the fit is normal.

We were skiing at Boyne Mountain, and hubby said he needed new ski goggles. His were a decade old,…read moreand had developed a crack. Reason enough to get new ones. After a day of skiing, we stopped by Boyne Country Sports. Hubby picked out a nice, new pair of modern-technology goggles, then reminded me that my own decade-old goggles are too big to fit on my face under my ski helmet. They were always pressing on my sinuses the wrong way. OK, I'll try on some, too. The next morning, hubby noticed that my brand new, never worn ski goggles had vertical scratches in the centers of the lenses. Darn. He said we ought to exchange them. Back at Boyne Country Sports, he showed the scratches to Mike, the man who had sold us the goggles. Then they called in Steve, who seems to be the manager. Hubby showed Steve the goggles, and at first he said, "Oh that's just moisture." But when Steve looked at a second, then a third pair that had scratches already on them, he had to conclude that they were arriving at the store that way. He was going to have to speak to the Scott distributor. And then he did something amazing. He helped me pick out another pair that fit my head/helmet combination, and then he gave them to me for no additional charge, even though they were more expensive. I certainly didn't expect him to do THAT. Thanks, guys! Above and beyond the call of duty. :-)
