He did tell me there is an oil based dry lock and a water-based dry lock and I asked him why would you use one over the other and his comment to me was well some houses like water, some houses like Oil. Unfortunately, one smug employee ruined that experience for me, and I'll now be switching my allegiance to Ace. I purchased a small $6 shower accessory. Unfortunately I lost the receipt. The accessory was not what I needed, and I attempted to return it. The employee stated I cannot return without a receipt, even for a store credit (I was going to purchase products worth more than the value of what I was returning). I was disappointed at this response, but I shopped for what I needed anyway. I went to the front, and the employee was helping another customer in an aisle. After helping that customer, she proceeded to another customer in the aisle. Now, I understand one person having to triage, but at that point a simple acknowledgement of me would have been nice. It felt intentional, and it seemed as if the employee was taking satisfaction, acting somewhat smug as she told me she won't accept a return without a receipt. Not sure if this is just one rude employee, or the owner is really this strict about returns on $6 items that are clearly unused, but either way, I seriously doubt I'll be doing business here any more. If you had or have a similar experience, I also encourage you to drop these clowns. (Incidentally, when I purchased the item I would eventually return, I was not asked for my phone number (which they generally use to text receipts, as I'm part of their "customer club" or whatever. So there is actually another mess-up by a different employee that could have accommodated the companies own draconian return policy.) In short, I go to a neighborhood spot like this for the service. And when I'm treated this way, it defeats the purpose of avoiding much more convenient and likely cheaper options like Ace or Amazon. You are not really selling hardware - you should be trying to offer a superior customer experience--remember that and you will not lose customers like this

Also, if you have thin skin and happen to be a woman, this isn't a store for you. Every single man in this building will, inevitably, crack a joke about women and their deficiencies when it comes to home improvement. Just be ready for it. They have recently taken away the 10% Military discount on tons of items throughout the store. Apparently millions of dollars in profit just wasn't enough. That just makes me sad for them. If they're hurting that bad, we can afford to pay full price. The store is always pretty clean. The staff are typical to the times we live in. They'll help if they really have to, but don't think they'll approach you with any kind of preemptive courtesy. At the time there were some mixups and delays , but as it turned out lowes did a very nice job.My new fence was of better materials and very straight. So we were pleased to see him. We got the fence quote and he managed to get a price that we thought reasonable.So we wrote him a check for 1/2 and charged the rest. Several days prior to materials being delivered we realized that we needed these funds for something else that was very important. We called Dennis to cancel the install for now and he said ok. However he said there would be a restock fee of $1200 and his manager was insistent on getting it. Some time has passed and no refunds ? We called Dennis and asked him what's going on? He just got back to us today and gave us the great news that his manager had waved the restocking fee. Kudos to Dennis and his manager for having the smart sense to do the right thing. We have just purchased a new property and my loyalty to lowes as the place to go is now sealed. This was a good move on their part because all lumber, tools, supplies, garden/ lawn care products and other products will be from them in the future. P.S. we had already purchased Dish washer. And laundry pair from them.
