I went to this location this morning to purchase a flashlight. I know they restock Fridays so I was sure it was going to be there. I found that there wasn't any on the shelf so asked the person up front to see if they had any. They said they just got 13 in and just needed to be taken out of the box to put on the shelf. I said, great! I'll wait since it was quite a drive for me to get there. He told me to come back later. I said to him again that the drive was too far and that I can wait. He then preceded to tell me "you know what, they're not available, you can come back later". Wow!! After confirming there's 13, all of a sudden they're not available because someone's being too lazy to retrieve them out of the cardboard shipping box to give to me?! I was about to purchase a handful of other items on top of that flashlight but was so turned off by the awesome customer support, I just left without purchasing anything. I'll give my business to someone who deserves it. read more

New to Harbor Freight, been buying tools here but not at this location. Don't think I will be coming back. I was a bit dumbfounded after a short conversation with Jodee the manager. I think management should give her more time to actually take care of customers. A bit condescending and could not tell me what to do if the app says one thing and her info says something else. As a manager I thought she could maybe problem solve this. I politely asked her to maybe call the other store since I've been to 3 harbor freights. She was more concerned to clock out and I thought it was a bad example for the new employees Ashley. What really surprised me is Ashley. I think she's a new employee. She was professional, polite and she seemed like she cared. Perhaps as a manager your not suppose to set the example. read more

Not sure why i never visited this place but before it was always home depot. They have a wide variety of tools for a great price. They had a gardener pump that I was looking for and called while I was in another location since they ran out. I called and they had it and told me how many units they had and we drove immediately there! Don't forget to sign up for their emails as they do send a lot of coupons! I've heard so many complaints that the tools and equipment are cheap, both in quality and price and you get what you pay for... pity, because some of their merchandise is actually pretty good at a really good price. If your a mechanic for a living, I think you probably buy your tools off a truck or other commercial outlet, so you probably don't shop here... and that's okay. But for the occasional handy person doing light repairs, there's absolutely nothing wrong with these tools or equipment. Myself, I bought a 350 piece Craftsman mechanics tool set years ago before HF even opened. But now that Sears is gone, if I need a one off tool, I go here rather than Home Depot just because it's so much easier to find something . For my Jeep, I got a 9000lb winch here that performs just like the name brands my buddies have for about 1/3 the cost. I was able to pull myself out of mud just fine... and everyone was surprised. Not that I did it, but that it worked. My in-laws gave me a farm jack (Hi-Lift type) years ago and it still works. My wife's grandfather gave me a 4 in 1 battery charger that we used so much, the battery gave out and it doesn't charge anymore. But that's okay for a 4 year old jump starter. In fact, many of the items HF has are similar if not exactly like what you can get on Amazon for cheap without the wait or shipping...and you can get it now and actually feel it and try it out before you buy it AND returns are waaayyy easier. Most of my buddies who hate on HF have never bought anything here because of what they've heard. But I think now they're at least going to give it a try and find out for themselves if the tools and equipment are cheap in quality or cheap in price or both. Lately, I've been coming here quite frequently for my home repair needs. I've purchased a farm jack, drill bits, a hedge trimmer, and a few other smaller miscellaneous things. So far, all of them have been great and all have been working well for my needs. For the price, I can't complain as they are usually almost always cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes, but you have to remember to use their 20% off coupon that you can easily download online through a google search. My first farm jack had issues, but replacing it was easy and they didn't give me any grief. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this store. I wouldn't say customer service is great, but it's no worse than Home Depot or Lowes, which is fine. Come here if you want cheaper tools. read more

I just starting doing side jobs wrenching on motorcycles. Needed tools for this endeavor. Been going to this Harbor Freight location from time to time. Always had what I need. Quality tools from Snap-on, Matco and Jim's are out of my budget.. upon research, found out Icon brand to be competitive in comparison, decided to try this approach. Been eyeballing Icon 1/2 ratchet (part# 64704, $46.99). My brother and I went there. Not on their racks, beside a display model. I asked a rep to help us, happens to be the store manager "Willy". He went to go stock check, came back with part# 64706, which is also 1/2 ratchet with a longer handle. For the repairs we do, that length was unnecessary. They didn't have one available but he offered to locate one from another location. We were exhausted from an errand earlier that day and was about to change our minds. My brother decided to asked if he can give us a discount for it or if we can buy the display. He would not sell the display and while he was reluctant at firstl, he decided to grant us 10% discount. Kind of like this place, but only for items that don't have a motor, lights, doesn't use electricity, or batteries. You've heard, you get what you pay for? Exactly!!! I don't have any confidence in using their brand name power tools. I mostly stick with the really well known brands, like Makita, Craftsman, etc..... But this place is really good for other items, like sanding papers, cutting disc's, power tool accessories, paint brushes, clamps, and so forth. Prices are pretty cheap, and these items don't break down. Place is clean, plenty of parking. Staff is nice and helpful.........so far. Dang, I have never felt so unwanted in a place I'm at at least twice a week. I was looking for a drill bit but no one wanted to help. When that finally did, the lady said "oh we are out" and walked away. When I turned my focus on something else I needed, I was followed. When I I asked if they sold wax rings for toilets, the guy looked at me and without thinking said no. I'm sad to go but I hope the manager can find the core issues and save this store. Was so happy when I found out a Harbor Freight was opening up in the area. I didn't have to drive all the way to Pasadena or even Covina. This is in the El Super plaza along with Pizza Hut. Parking is plentiful. A bit confusing when you enter, but like a grocery store, there are aisle signs above. Spacious and the A/C is blasting so it's not stuffy like Home Depot or Ace across the street. Don't forget the 20% coupon online! Or if you know what you're getting, look it up online. Sometimes each item has its own coupon that turns out to be more than the 20% coupon you can find online. read more

I needed to call in and check it they had inventory on a workbench. When I called in, they put me on hold for 20 minutes, then fwded me to another associate. That associate, again, put me on hold for another 15 minutes only to hang up on me. When I called back later, I was continued to be put on hold. I eventually gave up and called another location. They helped me on the spot but the item was out of stock but at least they took a few minutes to assist. I won't be returning to this Harbor Freight due to their terrible customer service. read more

I come in to do a return though the day before I stopped at the La Habra store and was totally dissatisfied with the manager attitude . Inquiring about a tool box I've been searching for seemed he Hadn't any desire to want to help or answers any of my questions . I have to say I was very pleased with the La Habra manager decision sending me back with my return to the La Puente store . If you ever need a tool right away and not break your bank account this is the place. Average $200 would only get me 1 small set from a leader competitor (S***-*N) I love them too but not enough to fork over cash like it grew on trees. Harbor Freight is a great little store for your average joe looking to save some money on some DIY work. Now their tools are hit-or-miss. Some are good because they are basic tools. For example, I would probably pick up a basic screwdriver set here instead of paying a premium price for a Dewalt brand or something. They do basic tools very well and at a great affordable price. If you are concerned about the quality of the item you are purchasing, just search the item up on their website to see reviews. They are very straight forward about their products and even display their customer reviews on their flyers, good or bad. This Harbor Freight is has very helpful and nice employees. I was strolling around looking for some tools for a DIY brake job on my car and stopped by an employee asking if I needed help. They showed me what tools I needed for the job and I was in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. I later returned back to the store because I purchased something that I didn't need any more. I visit Harbor Freights often for tools and supplies for my business. This HF is the newest in the area and one of the larger stores. I went in to look into the new Cobra Surveillance systems for my family's home. The Manager, Danny, took the time to answer all my questions and walk me through some of the information I needed. He was very Helpful and polite and said just to ask for him when I come back if I decide to purchase the system. I came back 2 days later and Manager Danny was off that day. I was worried if I would get the same service. I spoke with the manager on staff whose name happened to be Manny! Manager Manny was just as polite and courteous as Danny. I told him I spoke with Danny prior and he actually called Manager Danny to get all the information and parts that we had previously talked about. He also took the time to inform us on optional added warranty and how to go about it if ever needed for the best response and turnaround. I'm very happy having this new store in my vicinity. Just when you thought customer service was dead I was proven wrong. I was sent to pick up a tool for my husband here with a picture and description. Needless to say I was lost as this is not the type of establishment I frequent. Jodee came to my rescue and showed me where the product was and explained to me the different types and also remained patient as I called my husband and asked him what type of nails he needed for it. She also carried the product and nails to the register for me and was not phased or pissed at ALL! Prices are great, have most tools you typically should need if u have a home or a car. Store is empty mostly, small, and quiet. Haven't really had any negative experience there, they do have high turnover I noticed. Horrible service. My husband was purchasing materials and at register was told he had to be a member for sale price. He did have a member card but the cashier said it was the wrong number. So he asked to change the number or get a new one so he could get his items with sale price. The cashier refused called the manager and he told my husband to come back and do it on another day. They were no customers in the store they had plenty of time for him to fill out a new card. But refused. My husband was so upset he asked to return his items took his money back and never wants to go there again. He was.
