If you know what you're getting from Harbor Freight, then you shouldn't be disappointed. I think everyone knows that most if not all of their products come from China. However, most of their hand tools, measuring tools, and tools that don't have electrical components are usually of decent quality. In fact, the quality of the components that we get at work from the our Chinese suppliers are of very high quality that rivals the quality of any Western suppliers. Their customer service and return policy are also very good. That's why I gave them four stars even though the last two times I went there they did not have what I needed. read more

H. F. T. is my jam. I love it here. Lots of bargains. I just picked up a 4.5 amp. Angle Grinder for $10.00, boom. Of course, Buyer Beware. I came for a $10.00 Angle Grinder. $45.00 later, I left with a bit more. You can't have an Angle Grinder without, in my case, a package of Metal Cutting Discs, A pair of Ear Protection Muffs and a couple other things. I will be back of course. Before opening I call and talk to an employee about returning a defective cargo rack. I was told they close at 7. Pull up at 5:57 and was turned away at the door. Said they closed at 6. All I needed to do was swap something already paid for and still was turned away. There were reasons why I never liked this place. Called in to ask if they had a particular item available in store. They said that one of their systems was down, so I asked if she could look around on the floor herself to see if they had it. She flat out refused, saying that they were short staffed. I've previously worked at several retails and dealt with a number of frustrating situations with system failure, short staffing, severe weather, everything, and I have NEVER refused to help a customer without a valid reason. Third time not a charm. Customer service is ridiculous. Cashiers are rude, brusque, condescending, and saying thank you to a customer appears to be very difficult for them. I want to start the review saying I 100% support American made items, but when I need that 50 cent razor blade with handle to scrape my glass stove top, I am in here getting it. I guess stores like this have their place, like dollar stores. You know what quality you are getting if you are not careful. I was shopping last year for a white tarp for a drive in movie screen,at the house and found they had some really good tarp prices as well, even though they didn't have my size tarp. I am not a tool buyer, so I can't speak for the larger items here, but I know my son has bought some cheap paint sprayers here in the past and said they work okay for under $20. I would suggest using their coupons they run on a regular basis in every paper known to man, for an even better deal. went to harbor freight today with a coupon book to get a few things, one thing was not in the book so I used a 20% off coupon that was great the other two things were in the book. Staff not following COVID protocols- wearing an ineffective bandana low on the face, exposing his nose on the morning of Dec. 15, 2020. He was the only person at the register so there was no avoiding close proximity to him. This is the height of disrespectful and shows blatant disregard for the health of customers. Customers were all appropriately masked and the staff wasn't - so we protect him but he wasn't protecting us. He touched his face and nose then handled our items. HFT is not the only show in town and I will give my business to companies who take public health seriously. read more

You be the judge; Customer A calls the store for a product he had preordered to see if it arrived yet. It was a three to four-week back order. Turns out it was in and had been for a week but nobody had contacted Customer A. Customer A drives to the store to pick it up. When the product was ready to load, Customer A notices the box has lift truck fork damage on it. Upon inspection there was indeed damage to the product. Customer A refuses product despite an offering to further reduce the price. Customer A sees another box of the same product and asks if he can have that one instead. The employee replies no because that one is for another customer. Customer A then says to the employee I am here already picking up, can't you call Customer B and tell them their product is damaged and would have to be reordered. Offer Customer B the same discount for the damaged goods. The employee said they couldn't do it. Customer A reorders product and has to wait another three to four weeks for delivery. Conclusion; Who would be more upset? The customer that was already on site for a pick-up or the customer that's at home who gets the phone call? Do you think Customer A should continue to do business with this store? This is what happened to me. There were failures at so many levels here. Customer service is a critical component with any business. It's unfortunate there is little of it at this store. read more

If you want a really horrible experience with customer service , this is the place I had gone to Harbor Freight recently to purchase some epoxy. Found out I shouldhave gotten something else instead so took it back with receipt unopened. The overbearing female behind the register wanted personal info for returning a cash purchase. I told her I don't give out my personal info , especally for a cash purchase so was given the choice of getting a store credit of which I had to get that item right then and there so did so. Got back in her line and she was I was there, By the time I got to the front of the line, she informed me that I had to go to the next register. She could have told me that sooner so I didnt have to waste my time waiting for nothing , I went to the next line and had the items to use towards the store credit and knowing how much I would need to add to that. Robt, the brain dead mgr (per name pin) was fiddling around trying to figure out the difference owed, I told him what it was, He still was trying to figure it out in his and then the lightbulb must have gone off because it was. The same amount I told him. By far, this is the worst business for customer service. I would advise anyone thinking of shopping here to rethink it . I was very affected and disappointed when I found all my items in the store after searching because I could not find a associate to help me, I proceed to check out. The cashier askes me if I have one of their rewards cards, which I don't so then she asks if I have any males that shop with them?! I was returning an item. Apparently there was a restocking fee that was 40% of the item. It was unopened. You're just gonna put it back on the shelf .First of all if there's a restocking fee they should notify you that when you purchase it. The guy helping me was very slow. He was rude. on jan 12 2018 I purchased an air compressor, when I requested help in loading this 125 pound piece of equipment all I got was complaints addressed at me. ( iam 70 years old and I had hand surgery 3 weeks before and a knee replacement awhile back) after there complaints they did put the compressor on the tailgate of my truck and then leave. leaving it for me to move to a secure position. (with the help of another customer) I let it go maybe that's what the 3 employees standing inside watching me were supposed to do.so on Monday the 15th of jan 2018 the same compressor went on sale. so I took the coupon to the store for a refund of the difference. the young man waiting on me was trying to sell me an extended warranty then some oil then back to the warranty, in the mean time he entered all information on computer wrong then needed help to repair that issue. he handed me a reicept to sign of which I did. then asked me what else I wanted I said my refund, he says he already gave it to me. you did not give it to me I explained, so back and forth a little we went , then a lady store supervisor came over we talked the young man kept insisting he thought he gave me the money. so she did a till count , when she returned she informed me that I had been given what I had coming, I protested then she told me she was a professional and there was no errors that I had been given the money. I stated to her this was not the last of this heading out the door. she claimed the store had cameras which would show who was correct, I stopped and came back and told her then lets go look, she said well you cant see them. I explained you are the pro then go look and I will except what you tell me, because there was no money that changed hands with me. waiting about ten minutes another guy comes out with the same pieces of paper , showing them to me stating there was no cameras on till and I was paid and that was the end of it, I protest a little then leave.
