So good and such a good value. Not the best roast beef I've ever had, but super solid. The rolls are fresh and toasted, plenty of sauce, and the meat is tender. It's so thinly sliced that the meat can clump together a bit and fall out, but that didn't affect the taste. Fries were fresh out of the fryer and a huge serving! The service is incredibly fast and friendly, and there's a good amount of seating inside if you want to stay to eat your meal. read more

Homemade Onion rings were very good, got a Greek salad with grilled chicken. Salad was just ok the chicken was very good . Also had an Italian was really surprised that it was all meat and no veggies . It was good, but I think they may want to give the dining area and bathroom a serious cleaning, the table edges, back of the booths , windows. We did take out. The kitchen area looked very clean. Staff was very pleasant . read more

Seriously good roast beef sandwich. Nicely toasted roll, piled high with thinly sliced rare to medium rare tender roast beef. Friendly service although it took a few minutes to get the sandwich, it was worth short wait. Can't wait to try the poutine next time. read more

When you're Jones in for a roast beef sandwich, this is a great place to go and once in a while, they even have a live musician playing in. What is In essence, a glorified luncheonette. Food is out of this world. People are very nice. read more

I've lived in Portsmouth for over 30 years and used to stop at Haps--it was good back then. A few years ago, it took a nosedive and got so bad I thought it might have closed. Even after its makeover, I assumed it was the same old spot and never went back. Tonight, craving a North Shore Beef, I gave it another shot. I ordered a large beef on an onion roll, and it was amazing--easily a 9.5/10, on par with the best North Shore beef joints. Next time you're passing by, stop in. You won't be disappointed! read more

My wife and I found this gem after just moving to Portsmouth, and we have been over a dozen times in the last month alone. The Alex is my favorite Sayumich they have, and i can't wait try the breakfast options they offer. I Highly Recommend!!! Not only is the restaurant the perfect size as to not get too crowded if you wanted to sit and eat, but the employees too are all very professional and quick. We Love this place! My husband stopped at Haps on the way home to pick us up some onion rings and french fries.I was thrilled with what he brought home!. Finally onion rings that were NOT BREADED or pre frozen.Now..I have been looking for the last 2 years for some simply delicious...beach worthy...Deep fried and hand battered rings!..I GOT EM!..I have tried a vast array of onion rings from just about every place around here (not counting beach)...What I have been met with is usually frozen, over breaded (I mean what appears to be like hard bread..to..soggy undercooked or overcooked yuckyness! and always waaaay overpriced. These at Haps were Plentyful! and very reasonably priced...Oh and the french fries (incidentally they have several choices of fries)..were wonderful too.Crunchy yet tender inside..fresh and lightly salted...So Good!..Will defenately be back to Haps to try more items and OH..ONION RINGS! read more

Haps, roast, beef, medium, rare succulent tasty delicious we have to go. I'm buying their onion rings are to die for great ambience. Self service kind nice wonderful place. read more

Just don't use a takeout service if you're ordering from this place. I don't know who's responsibility it is to review the order, but the only two times I've ordered from this place, and yes, I gave it a second chance I had the wrong order or something missing. I hate french fries and I got about 3 pounds worth of them last night. No mozzarella logs as I ordered and mounds of the wrong cheese on the burgers. The bottom part of the hamburger roll was just water. It had disintegrated it was so disgustingly greasy. Sure Uber eats gave me partial money back, but so what? It's not what I ordered. Again. Perhaps their staff don't know how to read. I don't know. read more

Worst roast beef I've ever eaten. Wouldn't even feed this to a dog. Can't believe they would serve something like this to a customer. Straight up slimy mush. Edit: I did reach out to the owner to resolve this as noted and instead of offering a refund on my sandwich (had to go in the garbage obviously), they said they would give me a free roast beef next time. I'm sorry but I was not comfortable with eating a roast beef at this establishment again after this experience. read more

Awesome food !! The homemade roast beef and fries are phenomenal, can't wait to go back !!

This was the absolute best roast beef sandwich I have ever had. The super beef on the onion roll was massive. Thinly sliced roast beef in a very large portion. I almost went back inside to tell the owner how good it was. This beats all other roast beef sandwiches in the area. read more

Went tonight. Jr Roastbeef was melt in your mouth! Service with a smile. Fries we're amazing. Highly recommend.

Ordered 2 roast beef subs for takeout. The beef was gray and stringy/chewy. Worst beefs we have ever had. The former owner made nice beef with good color. We ordered a side of onion rings that was crammed into a to go container. All the breading was off the onion rings and it was a mess. Worst takeout experience in years. read more

Best roast beef sandwich I've had since pano's closed! Every we all got was outstanding! read more

Quite possibly the best roast beef this side of the state line. They cook it right, slice it thin, and pile it HIGH. I think that the regular roast beef sandwich is a great value for the money. It's loaded with roast beef and is quite filling. I was tempted to get the Super Beef, but find that the regular makes for a decent meal when paired with their salad. The onion roll is definitely the way to go! read more

This place is amazing! Very clean office is the best roast beef sandwiches north of Kelly's roast beef

My family and I had the pleasure of eating here on 1/31/21 and I when I am in the area again I will definitely be going there. Their roast beef dinner was not only fabulous but the price was great. The amount of food we got for the price was unbelievable. I wasn't able to finish my meal so a doggy bag was needed. The staff was super friendly and the place was immaculate. I highly recommend Haps. Debbie Wilson read more

Stopped into Haps today with a fairly big group of hungry stomachs. First impression, super clean and open. We ordered a bit of everything- Greek salad with chicken, roast beef dinners, a kid's cheeseburger, a wrap, buffalo wings, and a couple apps of fried pickles/chicken fingers/shrimp. Ohhhh my goodness, DELICIOUS! The food was served hot and in less than 10 minutes. The food was huge servings, even for the kids cheeseburger plate! Possibly the best wings I have had in a long time- they were huge and perfectly fried/baked. Definitely the BEST in the area! The roast beef plates came with a delicious & definitely home made rice & nice side salad.... the roast beef though was literally the best with sauce and cheese, just how I like it. No other place has beef sandwiches like this outside of MA I have been to! The Greek salad was super fresh, huge chunks of Greek feta and the chicken was really good on top-- highly suggest a salad because of the homemade gyro bread! Apps were all homemade, quality and good portion for us all to pick... chicken fingers were real yummy!!! Got a moment to talk to the owner and he was so nice and proud of his restaurant & that we loved our meal! Super clean, super delicious, and really cute restroom too for a sandwich/salad type shop! Oh, it's located right next to Water Country too!!! I just don't think I've had a better quick service experience when traveling through Portsmouth.... highly recommend! read more

We went to the Beach Plum and the line was too long so we tried Hap's roast beef restaurant that was advertising seafood. Wow, so much more haddock for the money than the Beach Plum and everything was cooked just the way we asked. I don't think they make any money with such large portions so don't wait, this is a great deal. read more

Bomb super beef 3-way. Great fresh onion roll, BBQ sauce on point, and rb cooked perfect. Too bad I'm not from the area or I would haunt this place. If they are consistent they will put this sandwich on the map. read more
