My family are big fans of thin crust New York style pizzas. As soon as I saw a pic of the pizza at…read moreFredi the PizzaMan, I knew we had to try it. It's a small restaurant but runs pretty efficiently. There aren't a lot of great seating options, so I think carryout is probably the way to go here. Or else arrive at opening or go during a non-holiday period. This place, despite the size, has a lot of personality and clearly a lot of repeat customers. In my short visit, I saw several people borrow one of the silver sharpies on the counter to write a message on the bricks, walls, counter, etc. The whole restaurant is covered with people's graffiti, which is kind of great because it just shows how much it is loved that people want to be part of it. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, which was big enough to feed three people with light appetites. All three of us were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the pepperoni. The pizza was also served with fresh basil, which is a very nice touch. I personally think the crust and sauce could be a bit more flavorful, but it was still a very good pizza overall. I highly recommend Fredi the PizzaMan but caution that there might be a bit of a wait and/or lines.

First off let me start by saying this is not my 1st rodeo at this establishment. As an avid fan of…read moreFredi's style of pizza I would have to say these two pies were delicious, but definitely not my go-tos. If you enjoy no cheese pizza (which I sadly found out I did not) then try the New Haven. Despite no cheese it had a nice crunch to it and the sauce was fire so I will give it that. Now where shall I begin on the Johnny Ola. This thing was crafted with care. The white pizza game here went crazy for real and the spinach was top notch quality not that bunk stuff you find at Meijer. As for the ambiance of the location let's just say it is always packed. They opened at 2pm , and people were already there at 1:45pm so that threw me off. It took almost an hour to order because there was a lot of families ahead of me but if you are willing to wait you will not be disappointed. Definitely a gem in Melvindale because before Fredi The PizzaMan you would never catch me out there doing anything. I will for sure be back, again!

The spicy…read morepepperoni deep dish hits just right: lighter sauce, cup-and-char pepperoni, crispy cheese edges, and a soft center. The cashew caesar is crisp, cool, and perfectly dressed, with the cashew base and crispy onions making every bite count. The greek salad balances things out with chickpeas and a mix of textures, never too salty or sharp. The garage vibe, pizza art, and laid-back but timely service tie it all together. I'll cross town for pizza, but honestly, I'd do it for that salad too.

There is street parking and a lot in the back where you pay through your phone. You seat yourself. It is communal tables and about 10-12 seats at the bar. I sat down and the bartender was very attentive. I asked if the pizzas under the Deep Dish section is Detroit Pizza. The medium was described as 12"x10" and cut 6 squares. I got that thinking I'd take the rest home. I got the spicy pepperoni which comes with pepperoni, banana peppers, ricotta, Mike's Hot Honey and oregano. Nice selection of drinks if you do partake in beverages. Pizza was absolutely amazing. The crust, sauce, cheese and toppings came together well. Did I have some to take home? No. That could have been easily shared with 1-2 others too. Solid place. No idea what to compare to, but enjoyable.

The pizza has this really good sweet-and-spicy sauce, and I loved the honey butter crust--so good. Everything was delicious and I'd definitely recommend it. I don't know what this man's intentions were, but he could've came up to me and just simply asked "are you doing okay? is there anything i can do for you?" instead of scooping me out as if i was getting ready to commit a crime. as I spend more time being back in my home in Detroit, i'm just not understanding why it's too difficult to receive decent and humane customer service. i'm just in complete concern & dismay due to this experience, do so much better.
