I'm giving Happy Sushi a 5 because the quality of the food is delicious and we do not have many good options for oriental food in Mobile. We were headed to Brick and Spoon, but there was a 45 minute wait for a table. We elected to leave the restaurant because we had a long to do list to accomplish that day. We walked out the restaurant and pulled up Yelp to see what we might enjoy nearby. I was literally standing outside Happy Sushi and saw very good reviews. Here is the issue for the restaurant. It is in a strip mall which is not a problem, but their windows are tinted dark and there are large marketing signs out front that say SUSHI, RAMEN, WINGS-weeks prior when I noticed the signage, I thought that place doesn't seem to have a clear identity of what it wants to specialize in at this location. We decided to roll the dice and eat lunch there anyway. The inside was surprising. It was very clean. Everyone was nice and accommodating. It wasn't too loud. There is a motorized track with a vessel of some sort that travels your food out to you. We ordered and the little vessel (bullet train) whizzes by after minutes and slams brakes at your table. You take your food off and send it on its way. It's cool and there are less touch points on your food. We started with egg rolls and my hubby said he would order more next time and make that his meal. They were the perfect combination of lightly fried and savory taste. I ordered shrimp tempura bowl with jasmine rice and it was delicious. Hubby had salmon tempura bowl, which was also thoughtfully executed. We had a shrimp tempura sushi roll-yes for you raw sushi fans-we eat it cooked. It was delicious. The menu is diverse but not too big. They have a kids menu. They do have ramen, teriyaki bowls, sushi, all kinds of appetizer, wings and fries that are dressed with numerous different toppings. They serve beer and wine. They also have milk teas. I enjoyed the Chardonnay. It was a quick brunch without feeling rushed and we were out in plenty of time to get our tasks completed. We would definitely return or use Waitr for delivery. read more

Tried this place for the first time and I'm glad I did. The food was very flavorful and better than any sushi I have ever had. The conveyer belt brings your food to your table and you grab it. Unique concept! Delivers your food by "boat" (see video). How much fun for adults and kids! I do have to say, it's rare to find fantastic customer service in a market saturated with eateries, but the hostess, cooks and server were all so accommodating. They even went above and beyond when I asked them to let me know when the boat was coming so I could video it! So the food...how was it? Well much better than most sushi restaurants in Jackson, MS and Happy Sushi is an underdog in the middle of Mobile. The Poke Bowl was a salad/tuna roll fusion and SO fresh!! I was worried I made a mistake by ordering both the Tuna Poke Bowl and the Sin City Roll, but I ate both they were so tasty!! I still can't pick my favorite. Restaurant was cute AF, I loved the little trains that brought you your sushi. I ordered the ramen and it was splendid, other than the chicken being a little spongy, it was delightful. I managed to actually snap a pic from when I went a while back. My wife and I ordered the chicken tempura roll and it was AMAZING. I would recommend this place definitely. I know why they named the place "Happy" because when you take a sip or a bite of the pork belly ramen you can't help too feel happy. The short ribs are fantastic. I didn't care too much for their wings. Definitely can get better elsewhere. I'd also pass on the korean bbq bowl. For the price there's barely any meat and lots of fat. The flavor wasn't bad. It's just not worth my money. The ramen was decent and it's worth a try. You can ask for the chili oil on the side incase it's too spicy. Their tiger milk boba is decent. The meat was not marinated, they threw it on a flat grill like a Waffle House cook, no offense to Waffle House, and then poured some very bland probably watered down galbi sauce on it. This spot is a hip looking place, with a great Asian Fusion menu and owned by wonderful and friendly people. They have everything from sushi rolls, ramen, to Asian style tacos, chicken wings, egg rolls and teriyaki bowls. Try their Happy fries and you won't be disappointed. They're absolutely yummy!!! Mobile! We have a place with spicy ramen! Hallelujah! They were accommodating to my need to sub out pork for grilled chicken and it was simply a wonderful soup. The egg rolls were also delicious, unusually dressed with eel and yum yum sauce, unexpected but very enjoyable. We ordered to go so we could enjoy at home with some movies. I just wish it was a little closer to us (far west Mobile), but we'll be making this trip again (and again). Lots of places in town advertise themselves as "noodle shops" but we've had a terrible time finding actual spicy ramen, a delicacy among noodle dishes. Thank you Happy Sushi. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally got a chance to go this past Saturday. I went in the middle of the day, 3-4pm. They had maybe three tables and one person at the bar, so perfect timing for me. As soon as we sat down our server took our drink order. I wanted to try the bubble tea so i ordered mango tea with passion fruit popping boba... YUM! We also ordered crab rangoons, the hurricane roll and Alabama roll. Both rolls were very tasty and very fresh! The hurricane roll was my favorite, i think it was the sweet chili glaze that won me over. The food came out on a little boat thing, it rolls out from the kitchen, stops in front of you, then you press a button to send it back. I'd never seen anything like it! Pretty sure I got food poisoning here. I got the california roll and spicy tuna roll. Right off the bat the rice didn't seem like the right texture. My wife got the "crab" Rangoon, which were mostly cheese, and a fancy California roll that wasn't even as good as grocery store sushi. Later that day, I was feeling the indigestion. The next morning, I've been having many long, intimate sessions with the toilet. All I can say was good was the mango tea, but even that eas overpriced. Also, they did not tell us the sushi comes on the train thing, so I was sitting there trying to manage my kids while my food pulled up and pulled off before I could even get it. Maybe I'm used to a higher grade of sushi being from California, but that is no excuse. Y'all need to do better read more

On top of the food being fabulous, and yes, every single item we have ever ordered has met or exceeded expectations, the overall experience is everything you could ever want. Our server was super friendly and personable both times we've been--just really easy going but professional. Your food arrives on the cutest little shuttle which my husband and I just adored. Newest sushi joint in town. Had a dinner date with friends and was able to try several items on the menu. Prices are very reasonable. We ended up trying the crab rangoon, poke taco, spicy ramen, dynamite fries, and 2 sushi rolls. Everything we tried was good hut I have to say the poke taco was by far the most interesting and tasty dish. They also serve bubble tea (get wintermelon) and snow ice. I've been eating here almost weekly. This past Friday I came by and had a wonderful dinner. The prices listed on here are very old- the Pork Rib Bowl has a base price of almost $21 (plus $3 for noodles) Which is a bit outrageous and extremely frustrating considering that 90% of the meat that I received was fat and bones.... The meat that I was able to salvage was chewy and hard to eat. Flavor was okay. Seaweed salad was good, but a smaller portion. Spent $36 for the one meal plus two sides of seaweed salad because I was expecting the portion to be smaller based on previous reviews. So somehow the prices of the small seaweed salad portions went up to $6 each. Not worth it. read more
