There were extremely unprofessional. 1. Didn't clean the kitchen cabinets properly. There were still spider webs when they finished cleaning. 2. Very very persistent in getting paid. So insistent that they will ensure that you have not had a chance to look at their work. 3. Took away supplies for cleaning without asking. This is very unprofessional. 2nd time I hired Blanca for 2 bathrooms to clean. Service was excellent. She's very fast and thorough. Prices are very reasonable.

Reasonable cleaning services. The initial quote was done quickly and they were available to do the cleaning shortly thereafter. The crew of 2 arrived about a half hour late, and 1 person was on the phone for about half of the job. He also managed to squeeze in a 10 minute bathroom visit (door closed, fan on) and a few spots were definitely missed in the bathroom. He took a pass on my kitchen countertop but still left chunks of drywall on the counter which I ended up doing myself afterwards. We just moved in, so there was a bigger than usual mess in the kitchen from the renovations -- but the stovetop (which was done by the guy NOT on the phone!) was left spotless and sparkling clean. I gave Happy Planet a try based on the strength of reviews here. It seems their service has degraded since the 2011 reviews were written. I hired Happy Planet to "deep clean" a house that's going up for sale, but still occupied. I requested they include windows, baseboards, bathrooms and kitchen, and that they limit use of bleach, since the tenant is sensitive. The Happy Planet team arrived nearly an hour early -- not so nice for the tenant. They did not clean the baseboards. They did get 1 of 2 bathrooms clean (the other, not so much), but it left a powerful bleach smell that gave the tenant a headache. They did a lovely job of cleaning the windows but dumped dirty/soapy water on the landscape (deliberately--I caught the guy doing it) and got water and dirt all over the bedspread. I appreciate that they fit us in within a week of my initial call. I'm glad the kitchen, windows, and one bathroom are clean. I'm not glad for the still-dirty areas and unhappy tenants. read more

These guys are great. The right price, responsive, customer-focused. Blanca answered all of my questions and had a team out to my house a few days after our initial call. The two-man team, lead by Jose, LISTENED to what I wanted done in my house and simply did those things. There was none of the: "o, we don't wipe down doors" and "it's $3 per trash can" or "I am not allowed to clean under your stove". Instead, he listened, understood, worked efficiently, got my whole house done in a little over 2 hours, charged me on the low end of the range agreed upon with Blanca, walked around with me to audit the job, happily fixed a few little details that I wanted done better, and left. Perfection. I will say that: if you're looking to feel prestigious through your cleaner, this may not be the right team for you. They're not spending their time (wasting your money) folding tissue toppers and toilet paper. In fact, many little items that they cleaned under didn't go back ~right~ where I keep them (minor rearrangements). For me, this makes me feel like they're doing the job that I am paying for: Clean Stuff! And not spending billable time arranging and fluffing. [I bet they'd fluff and prettify if I asked, too! I'll reiterate here how Blanca and Jose are both SUPER responsive to what the individual is looking for rather than an "approved chores" sheet.] This IS the company for me. I hired Happy Planet Cleaner about 2 years ago. They serviced our home once a week for all that time (except when we left for long vacations). I have to say, they were wonderful. Not only is Blanca and her team sweet and kind, they are hard workers and do a fabulous job. I've really never had a complaint about their work and I felt their fee was reasonable. I was incredibly happy with the fact that they use earth friendly cleaning supplies. We have a baby and 2 cats and all hardwood floors, so it was super important that what they used was NOT harmful (kids lick EVERYTHING and cats lick their paws). Jose and his crew have been cleaning our home/office space on a regular basis for close to a year. We found Happy Planet after having let go of another cleaning service due to the horrible fumes that their toxic products left behind, and we have been pleased to have fume-free cleanings ever since! I won't recommend this service if you expect things to be done professionally. First all they were late for 2 hours for the morning appointment. Then Jose quoted me $250 while I told them the previous service I used only costed me $150. Then we agreed on a price of $150 for initial cleaning. He told me initial cleaning was gonna take more than 3 hours. This did not happen either - the crew claimed they were done after barely 1.5 hours and when I checked the work, the grease in the kitchen wasn't even removed. Unlike the previous service I used, Happy Planet doesn't help clean any surface that was covered by anything. I personally helped remove those stuff to make their jobs easier. And they didn't even listen when I personally showed them how to clean the grease using sponge and dish washer detergent. I was personally doing that cleaning by myself in front of them watching. It's disappointing to hire someone who doesn't think and doesn't listen. Jose also told me this was their last appointment so they could stay "as long as they wanted". That turns out not to be true either. The cleaning crew rushed out because "they had another appointment". Eventually I only paid $120 for this rough service and I ended up cleaning the kitchen grease myself. I will not use this service again. read more

I would not recommend Happy Planet Cleaning Service for anything more than a one time deep clean. The company is not very professional or thorough in their cleaning. I have to admit that they did a good job for the very first cleaning because they charge double and put in more time since it's a deep cleaning. But if you sign up for their regular cleaning service, the cleanings are not very thorough. This company cares more about the quantity of jobs rather than the quality of the work. They rush through things to get to the next job instead of doing the cleaning well. I had both Jose and Blanca clean my house, and both teams were hurried and not thorough at all. Happy Planet also lacks professionalism. They don't respond well to the constructive criticism that you will undoubtedly need to give due to the subpar cleanings. And they canceled last minute on multiple occasions and even failed to show up for an appointment without so much as a call or text, which makes it very difficult to count on their service if you are having an event or guests. After the nightmare experience I had with Check Maid (first time trying a cleaning service), I was a bit weary about what would happen. Here's a quick rundown: Good: - They were able to schedule a next-day appointment. Thank you!!! - 2BD 2.5BA home took about 1 hour for the 2-person cleaning team - Thorough, detailed work (sparkling faucets and mirrors, tidy countertops, etc.--just what you'd expect from a professional team) - Cleaned inside microwave as asked - Reasonably price ($130) Okay (not bad, but things to take note of): - Had to leave a voice message since no one picked up when I first called. Call was returned within an hour or so - Cleaning team couldn't contact me directly to tell me they arrived--Had to wait outside gate for a few minutes to let them in (was told they would have to call the dispatcher who would then call me saying they had arrived) - Not all their products are brand-labelled, so if you see them using a bottle of blue liquid in generic-looking spray bottle, you may want to ask what "environmentally friendly" product it is - Their cleaning products are very strong-smelling (heavily fragranced), so you may need to air out the room(s) if you're sensitive to scents - Payment is a bit awkward. When the team told me they'd finished, I went to get my wallet to pay, but when I came back, they had already left! I soon got a call from the main office asking whether I'd pay by check or PayPal. I have looked for a housecleaner that I liked for a LONG time. Finally, I found it! I have to admit, I did try several of the recommendations I found on Yelp, and for one reason or another, they didn't work out for me. But rather than waste time bad mouthing the competition, let me talk up HPCS. I found their site through a Google search, and right off the bat, I liked the fact that they used non-toxic cleaning products. We have always tried to use non-toxic products since we have young kids in the house. So we always provided our cleaners with non-toxic cleaning products, but sometimes they would still use their own nasty stuff. It was like I had to remind them every week what to use for each area of the house. It was kind of a hassle to make sure I always had it on hand, plus it cost me the extra money to have to supply it. The products used by HPCS are not only non-toxic, they are really effective at getting the house clean. The other issue I have had with cleaners is that I will set up the cleanings with a service, and then a team of people are sent out, none of whom speak English. So if I need to explain something specific that week, I would have to call their office in advance. And often with services, they will switch up the people that they send out, so they don't know your house and how you want it done. But Blanca herself (the smiling woman in the pictures on their website) comes to clean every time (with another cleaner), and she speaks perfect English. It just makes it so much easier to be able to communicate directly with them while they are there. They have been cleaning our house for several months now, and they have been completely reliable - always on time, the house always looks great, and they get the job done quickly. And their price is very reasonable. I could not be happier with a cleaning service than I am with Happy Planet. Maybe they should change their name to "Happy Planet and Happy Customers Cleaning". read more

I cleaned houses for 7 years during and after college so I have first hand knowlege and I am VERY picky! I also sympathize with how hard this work is and how poorly people treat cleaners. We have been using Happy Planet for over 5 years and found them to be consistently delivering a quality product, flexible when we had special events and needed extra time. Usually we have the same crew, but any crew we have had demonstrates the same effective cleaning skills, and understands the house layout and how they clean, (back to front) without direction. On occasion they have missed the house, but they always fix it by scheduling us back in quickly. I liked their courteous, timely manner, very reasonable prices and willingness to give a good deal, hard work, and that they use only Green products. They cleaned my house so well, that even I could have not done a better job (and I'm demanding). It is really worth it for me: they worked hard for 3 hours and did the amount of work, which would have taken me the whole day! I appreciated Jose's thoughtfulness and desire to add small elements to make this even more helpful for me. Like our toilet handle was broken, so he suggested I'd get a new one, and after I did, he replaced it! Also, he cleaned the walls of my house where my toddlers painted with oily crayons :-). They confirmed what they were going to be doing before they started the job so we were all on the same page. I have been looking for a good quality house cleaning for a logn time now. Based on the Yelp reviews here I expected much more than what I received. The individual arrived and provide a very resonable quote ($80/bi-weekly for our 1,500 sq foot home), was friendly and curtious. However, upon the initial cleaning there were several spots in the bathrooms that were not cleaned including left soap scum and many dirty areas. The kitchen floor was not cleaned at all, and many areas had dirt left. The house did not smell any better than prior to their cleaning, I'm not sure what they did for 2 - 3 hours exactly. We will not be using this service again, very dissappointing for the $150 we spent for initial cleaning. read more

Our kitchen remodel had just finished and we wanted the very dirty house cleaned because my daughter was due to deliver at any time. Happy Planet pulled together a crew to come in the next day. They were reliable and pleasant, listened well to what we wanted and did a very thorough job (even cleaning dust off the plant leaves). My discriminating daughter was very happy except she noticed that some of the window blinds still had a little dirt/dust on the back edge.
