We came here a year ago because of a hurricane evacuation. We're stationed down near Miami now, but have always called DC home, so when it was time to evacuate, there was no question on where we would head. I brought our dog Allie with us (wife took a flight out of Dulles to go see family), so I was looking for a place to put her for a day or two and get all her sillies out with some other dogs. This place was super accommodating to our situation, got her evaluated within a few minutes of the first day, and then took her for the day and absolutely wore her out! She had so much fun that when we came back the next day, she immediately started getting excited in the car when we drove into the location. Phenomenal staff who actually love dogs (not just the typical business owners that see a dollar sign over your pup) and will have fun with them all day long! For the reviews about scratches and sniffling...give me a break. This is a doggy day care...not the ER. It isn't meant to be perfectly sanitized, as I'm quite sure none of our dogs Purell their hands upon entry. If they have a scratch or two, it's because they were chasing dog butts all day and had a blast. If there are ever any issues, the staff will call right away and will section your dog off so they don't get hurt. If your dog got a scratch, they were probably having the time of their life. Calm down. If you want a solid dog boarding/daycare spot outside of DC filled with knowledgeable staff who care and will wear the pooch out for a day, this is definitely the spot to go to! The prices are more than reasonable and since it's indoors, it doesn't matter what weather will hit the area. Rain or shine, your pup will have a dog-gone good time with some of DC's finest 4-legged friends. I highly recommend them and we will most certainly be coming back over the holidays!!

I have been bringing my dog to ADDO for months and she really enjoys the time there. This morning,…read moreafter traveling a half hour to them to drop my dog off before work, I was told they couldn't take her back because her Bordatella was due two days ago. So I had to turn around and take her back home, which screwed up my work schedule. If they have the vaccine information, it would have been very helpful if they could have sent me a reminder so that I could have addressed it before bringing her in. But seriously, a vaccine expiration of two days should not prevent access. I'll start looking for a new day care that has better customer service.

She previously cared for my two Yorkies who made it to age 16, and now styles my current pup, Ares, a very handsome 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who is quite the character. Raini is incredibly talented with her grooming skill, and also has a patient, warm, friendly and caring disposition that sets all the pups at ease. As soon as we get in the car on grooming day, Ares is just so excited to see her, and he happily runs in the door to say hello to all his friends there. The entire Old Mill team is beyond exceptional, and they feel like family. They're the only place I would trust to board Ares when I travel, and they take exceptional care of him and give me daily updates when I call to check. I also love the new "Report Cards" they provide when I pick him up from his spa day, with such cute comments about his visit. Shout out to Timmie for his amazing job on seasonal decorations for every holiday! I think it's pretty unusual to have such a fabulous provider for 18 years running, especially one fantastic groomer in Raini. I cannot say enough good about the team at Old Mill and highly recommend them for all your pups' grooming and boarding needs!

Weekends are currently 8am to 5pm, although they are looking to extend hours to 6pm. Nap time every day is 12-2pm. It's a 12,000+ square foot facility (it used to be the Future Business Leaders of America building) near reston towne center. They started just 5 weeks ago with 5 dogs, and today my dog became #70! While my dog was getting evaluated, the owner, Yong, gave me a tour of the whole place. They have multiple different rooms based on size of dog. They also have an agility training room. They use the GingrApp online portal for booking and records management. Floors are an epoxy resin for easy cleanup and also grip for the dogs' paws. The only downside is that they don't have live feeds for you to watch your dog, and I love spying on my pup while I'm working. Also, while they do have an outdoor space that's a half acre, it won't be open until they get their permit to build a 6' wall (at the moment it's just a decorative boundary-type brick wall that's like 1.5' tall). So for right now it is indoors only, with an outdoor area for potty breaks only. They have referral bonuses at the moment. If you are the referred, you get a free half day(?) of daycare. If you are the referrer, you get a free forest walk. The "comfort" boarding option is just a standard wire crate. Forest view is a kennel with an outside view. Presidential suite is an 8x8 room with a tv that up ur dog can watch. All boarding comes with daycare. I can't remember if it was just the presidential suite or if it's all of them, but it also comes with 2 forest walks. The "day camp" options you see in the menu are add ons to the regular daycare day. They do also offer cat boarding. It's a room with cat trees and cat condos for them to hang out in. Large and clean and friendly facility. They also offer grooming on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I think I'll be adding Giving Tree to my rotation of daycares!

I have been a customer of Giving Tree Pet Resort for the past couple of years, bringing my two dogs…read morehere for grooming periodically. I also book the Presidential Suite for them when we travel or go on vacation. Our usual grooming charge for both dogs has been around $100 before tip. This time, I was shocked when I went to pick them up and was told the total was $200. One of my dogs weighs 57.2 lbs and the other 23.6 lbs, according to their recent vet records. I was told the higher price was because of their weight, plus deshedding charges. I looked at the pricing grid and did the math myself. The total should have been around $140. After a frustrating back and forth, I found out I had been charged double the advertised deshedding fee and that my dogs had also been put into higher weight categories. I showed the employee their actual weights from their vet records on my phone. She agreed to correct the deshedding charges to what was advertised in the app, but the whole interaction left me feeling like I was somehow wrong for expecting to pay what I had been invoiced and charged each time I had brought them in before. I understand prices go up, but this was exorbitant and, in my opinion, beyond justification. When I got home and looked at the receipt, I also realized the higher weight categories were still being charged. But honestly, the biggest issue for me is this: I reserved a service based on an advertised price and expected to be charged accordingly. Being told at pickup that the advertised price is basically just a "starting point" is incredibly frustrating. By that logic, what is stopping the final bill from being $300 or $500? I love my dogs and have trusted Giving Tree with them, including when we travel. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed how I feel about the business. The lack of transparency and the way this was handled destroyed my trust. I will not be returning.

This is by far the best kennel I've ever taken my German Shepherd to!…read more I got hooked a week back when I took her to be bathed and deshedded. Upon entering the grounds, you pass by a cute little Zen garden. There are two doors. One is for drop off/pickup, the other for payment, etc. This is great because Schatzi gets super excited whenever she sees me, making paying for her services a liiiittle difficult at times. So I dropped her off with a very kind, welcoming staffer, and then continued in to the office area. They were so helpful in determining the best customization for her. She has sensitive skin, so we went with the oatmeal shampoo, and I had lost her furminator brush (I know, bad mom), so her shedding had reached crisis level. They were so understanding and totally fine, assuring me that they would not only use the deshedding conditioner, but would totally brush her out. After settling everything, I asked if it would be possible for someone to show me around. They were more than happy to give me a tour, and I soon saw why! this place is immaculate! The indoor play areas were bleached after every group, and there was no dog smell at all! Very impressive. Here my guide informed me that some people drop off dogs just for a play group, $7 for one, or $14 for both am and pm. Great deal! I decided here to tack on a post bath play group for Schatzi. Then it was on to the kennel room. There were all different sized kennels for the dogs, but all of them were more than sufficiently spacious. They had really neat systems and charts on each kennel with a picture of the dog and any special needs or dog aggression (they do board aggressive dogs, but announce over their speaker system if they are taking an aggressive dog out, so they don't run into any other dogs and create anxiety. All the dogs we walked by seemed content. They even provide bedding for dogs boarding so they're nice and comfy! For elderly dogs or dogs requiring more comfort, they even have nice slightly elevated doggie cots! Also, if dogs live together and prefer to be together when boarding, they share a kennel, which I thought was very nice. The only dog who jumped up when we walked by was Schatzi, awaiting her bath. They also informed me that when all the dogs are out they do a bleach mist to kill any airborne bacteria! Very cool. Next we went outside. Their play areas are very cool, even with kiddie pools for water loving dogs! Their groups are on concrete, so messes are easier to clean and safety can be assured for all puppies! After every single group, they bleach and rinse the entire play surface to ready it for the next group. On coming back in, I saw the bath room where Schatzi would get her bath. Very adequate. There was a nice carpeted non slip ramp to make it easy for dogs to get in. The girls on bath duty were very sweet, too! I had no worries. On leaving, I tacked on that extra play group, and left to return later that afternoon. When I got Schatzi, she looked amazing! She honestly looked like she'd lost 20 pounds with all the fur they shedded out of her! Best of all, she was happy! Also, I was shocked by how much all of this cost, in the best way possible! The bath alone was a mere $32!!! With the shampoo and conditioner upgrade, deshedding, along with the playgroup, AND a custom doggy tag order, my bill was only $75!! I will be boarding her this coming weekend. They have a daycare option where they are out playing from 9-4, in addition to their 4 daily walks. This is $22, and well worth it to me knowing my baby will be happy with friends. Weekends they don't have full daycare, but they still do the walks, and I signed Schatzi up for morning and afternoon play groups. I'm so glad I finally found a kennel I can trust to take the best care of my best friend! Thanks, V.I.P.!
