First, she was never asked to wash hands nor did the tech wash her hands after she finished with previous person. My daughters nails were crooked lumpy and a hot mess. The tech made her nail bed BLEED and then she didn't throw the file away. She was going to use it in the next customer. Be late there is a language barrier and she couldn't understand that she couldn't use it on the next person bc of BLOOD- I told the customer she needed to use a new buffer. Dear Happy Nails - I've been coming to your salon off and on for years. I've always had good experiences until today. I was getting a gel manicure, and the technician instructed me to use the new dryer machines. The dryers were so hot that it was actually quite painful on the wet nail. This was repeated with each nail. As always, the technician did a flawless job, but I won't be returning as long as those dryers are in use. Combined with the fact that you just put in a steep price hike, I'm fairly sure that I won't be returning at all. Sorry to leave, but you've left me no choice. read more

I love going to this salon! David is the best!! The facility is clean and well organized. They have great chairs for pedicures. You get a free glass of wine (or any juice) with your service. The building is well lit and very relaxing. They offer a variety of services including eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. The prices are reasonable and the service is fast! There is plenty of parking and it's an easy location to get to. I started coming here in October and have not been let down. When I get my nails done, they always last a very long time. My nails stay shiny, the paint doesn't chip and my nails don't break. I would definitely recommend going to this nail salon and spoiling yourself! read more

Lee is my girl. She's the only one I'll go to. She does great gel nails and really pays attentuon to detail. She's fast yet great. Never uses too much gel to fill in nails or too little. I trust her. She does great pedicures too. Wish she's scrub my feet longer though and massage my legs with lotion. The last part is the only part missing in the regular pedicure. Not sure what the deal is but its fine. Sip free wine and relax. Lisa is great at pedicures too. Her sister Sandy rubs the front end and she's sweet as pie. Went in for a pedicure and asked for extra hot water. The water wasn't very warm, and when I asked for hot water, the lady said they couldn't do it since the tub was full. I wish they would have waited for me to sit down to start running the water, rather than starting it while I took my time picking out a color. The overall product looked like a teenager painted my toes. The polish didn't cover my entire toe nails and there was polish on my toes. For the price it was not worth it. I was struggling trying to find a nail salon to get a pedicure today since it's a holiday but as I was leaving the ABC store (LOL) I realized that this place was open! The first thing I saw was that they offered complimentary wine with every service. Don't mind if I do, guys. They put plastic covers on the pedicure bowls and opened new packs of equipment which I REALLY appreciated because there are some places that will just sit you in dirty bowls and do the pedicure with used equipment. They tell u one price in the beginning ($25 to gel polish my nails and toes). I was ok with that price. David polished my nails and then had someone else to polish my toes. She the states it will be $15 more dollars. I relied I am not paying $40 for my Nails and toes. So she hot an attitude and someone else came to polish. She completed it and the asked David about the price. He then replied just pay $10 more dollars. I then reminded David that he said it would be 25 for everything. He said ok just 25. The initial tech gave me my credit card slip to sign and when I handed it back to her she snatched it witj an attitude. This place is absolutely wonderful! Firstly, I called in and was able to get in for full set and pedicure asap! Awesome! The girl that did my nails (both full set and pedicure) was named Amanda. She was an absolute delight! Very bubbly and chatty, and VERY proffesional! I will always ask for her! Both David and Sandy were wonderful as well. I believe they run the place. Very nice, and helpful. The shop was huge and beautiful! Very professional and clean. Gorgeous! The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was the price. A tad bit steep for this poor gal. It was $50 total before tip. $25 for pedicure, and $for full set. It was about $10 more than expected, but, I just moved across the country from West Coast, so maybe that's the norm here? Pros- free wine/champagne with service. The woman who I assume is the manager or owner was wonderful. Prices are good ($35 for mani-pedi) for the area. Cons- they rushed through our pedicures and were a little messy. Other women were in their chairs before us and were still there when we moved onto nails. During the drying of my manicure my thumb got smudged and the woman who did it basically yelled at me for not running it through the dryer more than once. She didn't tell me to do that. Instead of fixing it correctly, she glooped more polish on my nail and said to keep it under the dryer 3 or 4 times. After 4 times it was still really wet. I had to get the manager to fix it correctly. My sister changed her pedicure color and the guy took it off but it's still on her skin. My tech didn't talk to me except to yell at me for smudging my nails. All and all, it was an average pedicure and it's conveniently located to our hotel. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE happy nails. It's by far the best place to get a pedi in all of Richmond. The mani's are water based (not the oven mitt style) and Each pedi comes with a hot stone massage (not extra) and the staff is super amazing and kind. They'll even pull colors out from the newest lines behind the counter for you. I've visited a lot of places in Richmond, and this one has always done me right. I have yet to find a place in DC that is as great as Happy Nails, I make it a point to go back to RVA at least once a month to get my nails did here. read more

She was really rough on my feet. For example: The Pumice blocks are to be used on the BOTTOM of the feet not the ankle area. She scratched my ankle and almost caused me to bleed. If I hadn't pulled my foot away in pain she would have broken the skin!!! When I got home I saw a very obvious scratch on my ankle. Ironic that their name is happy nails, but I didn't leave happy. I was in the area and decided to pop in for a simple fill in, but I should have just waited to go to my regular place. The place looks smaller from the outside, but it is actually bigger than it appears inside. They do have wine and the lady was friendly, but distracted. I asked for matte nails, but she put the shiny top coat then had to buff all my nails to get the shiny top coat off. Their color selection is large, but they have polish that they need to throw away. The first color I chose was separating on my nails even after she shook the bottle so I switched to a different color. She also didn't clean up my cuticles or file the sides of my nails (I had coffin shaped acrylics). It felt like a rush job and it definitely shows when you look at my nails. read more

I no longer live in the West End but am sure to travel every 2-3 weeks for my gel manicures, pedi and eye brow waxing! A hot stone massage is included with the pedicure! The owners and workers are personable! Excellent customer service... example.. Salon closes at 8pm... on two occasions I have arrived at 7:30ish because of schedule conflicts BUT they did not rush me out the door! They took their time and stayed open until 8:30/8:45pm until they finished my pedi and gel mani. No rush! "Van" hooks me up every time and keeps my brows perfectly arched with square corners! If Van is unavailable, I'm comfortable with any of the ladies hooking me up... BUT I'll only allow Van to wax my brows! lol I don't take chances with my brows so she has been the only person to wax them since Hannah left 2 yrs ago. The facility is large, clean and peaceful! They have a vast selection of colors! Prices are standard.. $25 for a pedi. If you're looking for NY prices this is not the place! lol You get what you pay for! They take their time and have plenty of workers/stations (10-12 stations of each) so need to rush to get another sale at the door. Pretty bad experience here. The owner did my nails; he was extremely rude and had claw nails that hurt me. He and the other women were very obviously talking about me as they laughed. Felt awful! He actually slapped my legs to tell me when to switch sides. I was waiting for my car to be serviced, and when they called me he yelled at me to not pick it up or "mess with him" because he's not going to redo it if I mess it up. Great service, buddy... Best nail salon I've ever been to. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted when I walked in. The nail technician was incredibly sweet and took the time to get to know me while she was cutting my nails down to the length I wanted. She asked about my favorite colors, where I worked, the color scheme of my work, etc. When I showed her our logo, she got excited, got up and went looking for something and she came back with this glittery stuff and said, "I'm going to just show you something!" She used it on my pinky nail and did a purple to blue ombre like our logo at work, then asked if I liked it. I said of course!! So she did the rest of my nails the same way. She was so nice and talked to me the entire time and when she was finished with my nails it was cute how excited she was over them and the fact that I was so happy with them. Excellent nail salon in the west end of Richmond! Sandy and David went above and beyond to deliver quality customer service. The salon was spotless and the services I received were top notch! I actually came into the salon 15 minutes after closing (unknowingly). After I was seated for a pedicure, David began on my toes while Sandy started my manicure simultaneously. I felt well taken care of and appreciative of their diligence but quickly realized the salon was closed and I was the only customer. Apologetically, I attempted leaving to allow the two to close the salon and head home. David, the owner, was insistent I stay and complete my services. The two worked an extra hour and a half after close to complete a beautiful pedi/mani and I could not have been more thankful for their hospitality, thoroughness, and professionalism. Prices are very fair, the cleanliness of the salon is impeccable and the nail technicians are pleasant, talented and professional. i only go to lee and i been going for a little while. and recently she messed up my birthday nails then go mad cause she messed up and wanted to go home. need to remind yall they close at 8 pm & my appt. was at 6:30 pm. i have went back once before because my nails have broken the day after i got them done. i highly recommend not coming here! they rude & make you wait at least 15 min. even with an set appt. everyone in there doesn't know how to properly go a shape or apply anything onto a nail. they dont ask they assume regardless if youre a regular paying customer. moral of it all is dont waste your time at happy (wack) nails‍ read more

Also, the owner did not tell me that I would be charged $8 for removal of SNS when I told her that was what I had on my nails. Came back the following day to get polish redone by someone different and it still was not done well. I walked out with it halfway dry and another sloppy paint job. This salon is more concerned with getting your money than they are with customer service! If you go during a time where they are short staffed you will be rushed through your service. I've given them many chances and I will not go back! I once got a full set and my nails ached so bad I had to go back the same day. The nail tech stated that I just liked to whine and tried to make light of it. In another occasion I had a shellac mani done and the guy buffed my nails until they almost bled! He just said it will get better. Each time I complain the manager states that he fires them...why not do better??
