First Time Lash Extensions! I booked a last minute appointment within the hour, and was greeted by Cindy my lash stylist. She was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. I was a bit hesitant because of the price point $150 - natural set And $75 - fill (every3-4 weeks) However, I do think this will be worth it! We went into a nice cozy room, took off my shoes & lied down on the bed. She played some relaxing music and walked me through everything she was doing all while making sure I was comfortable. I rarely get upset or go to the extent of an altercation with people. I GOT A HORRIBLE STAPH INFECTION FROM THIS PLACE. (see photo) The entire right half of my face blew up, starting at the eyebrow, and spreading down to my jaw line. It started right after I left Happy Lashes and lasted for 2+ weeks. I had to go on antibiotics to get rid of it. I still have a scar above my eye from this, more than a year and a half later. I was definitely nervous because it was my first time getting them, but she would chat it up with me and play music in the background. My sister went for a more natural look; she normally doesn't wear heavy make-up. Since I am an avid mascara-er and lash curler-er, I told Maria that I definitely wanted my lashes to look more dramatic and longer than what my sister came in for. Maria got it on-the-nose! I could not stop looking at my lashes afterwards. She does a blend of synthetic and mink which makes it look really natural. She also put the lighter longer lasting mink lashes on my baby/younger natural lashes and for my "mature" natural lashes, she applied the synthetic, which makes a lot of sense for the durability and longevity of the lashes. I made my touch-up appointment right after I got off the table and squealed at my new gorgeous lashes in her handheld mirror. I went online and made an appointment, which is a super plus for me. Since it was my first time going to Happy Lashes I requested any lash artist and I was scheduled with Maria V. I'm not going to lie, I was kind of skeptic with the selection because of one of the Yelp reviews below about her so I called to see what the deal was and I happened to get the owner. She assured me that Maria V is very good and that she even does the owners lashes so after hearing that I was sold. I got there and Maria was super sweet and she has feather light hands! First, let me tell you that you really should research where you go to - especially if you do drastic things like haircuts, waxes, or eyelash extensions. It's not like painting your nails that grow back in a few weeks!!! Being the impulsive person that I am, I was walking and saw this sign at a nail salon that said eyelash extensions - THAT IS WHERE I WENT WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! People, please go to places that specialize in services that they cater to. First of all, the lady had me go to the upstairs loft and lay on what looked like a make-shift bed with padding that was not comfortable at all. I could hear the chatter downstairs and smell of nail polish - so not relaxing when you're trying to keep your eyes shut for an hour. Then she must have put the under lid paper to separate my eyes too close inside my eye because it look like I popped a vessel after I came out. My eye was sore for the next few days and red from being irritated or possibly lacerated with a papercut! Within a week, clumps started to fall out and pulled my natural lashes along with it! THIS WAS NOT HAPPY LASHES - this was some neighborhood nail shop. So when trying to fix up my lashes that made me look bald in certain spots, researched and found Maria of HAPPY LASHES - and my lashes are truly HAPPY now! Maria is very professional, a nurse by trade originally - she uses proper hygiene, professionalism, and comfort to make it such a good experience where you can literally fall asleep while she does it! She tried her best to fix my lashes and said let the little ones grow back to fill in later. She leaves you with a wealth of information to care for your lashes and gives you so much tips. It was less than a miles walk, it was a beautiful sunny day and I felt pretty safe. I ran into Maria as i was walking up to the shop but i was little more than 45 minutes away from my appointment so i told her that I was going to eat from a taco truck a block away. She said that they dont have any seats to eat there and I was more than welcome to eat inside the waiting area. Super sweet woman! I met up with Irene maybe ten minutes past my appointment because she was with another client but that wasn't that big of a deal! I didn't feel any pain during any of the time except when I opened my eyes when I was suppose to keep them close. Irene asked me what kind of look I was going for prior to starting and I told her I wanted people to notice my eyes and my eyelashes! Something big but not too dramatic! Maria was so great about tailoring what lashes she used by watching the growth of my incoming ones. She would tell me when my lashes "needed a break" from the heavier lashes and filled them in with lighter ones. No matter what technique she used my lashes always looked full and great.
