While it was a little bit oily for me personally, the fish inside was super flaky, and the batter was really crispy and savory. BEAN CURD WITH PORK: 5/5. The best version I've had of this dish, period. There was something incredibly addictive about how savory and balanced it was. Textures were on point, too: super tender, not rubbery at all. SHRIMP WITH SCRAMBLED EGG: 5/5. The eggs were so soft, creamy, and delicious, with plenty of shrimp in and under the egg. BASIL FRIEND EGGPLANT: 5/5. Yes. Every time I pass by Happy Kitchen it is full of people and you can smell how delicious the food is all the way next door! The all the food was fresh, you could tell they make it to order. Tangerine Chicken was probably the best I've had, it came out really crispy and sweet. I'd want it a bit spicier but that's just me. Chow Mein had a nice tender noodle and great flavor, not too dry. Came here with my parents for dinner because they have been raving about the soup! To be fair, the pork hock and chicken soup was very flavorful and the highlight of the meal. Don't get why this place is always so empty but I feel like this is one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants in chino hills. Also like the only Chinese restaurant I know that still gives the whole tub of rice. I like the food here and come here with my family for a simple lunch or dinner. Instead of apologizing or giving a real ETA, I'm told rudely that if I want my order faster, I should cancel two of the dishes I ordered. Unreal response. You can tell this place is authentic, just based on the staff, vibes & people eating. The menu is huge, they probably have every Chinese dish you could think of. We ordered the tangerine chicken, beef fried rice, chili oil wontons & fried dough with condensed milk. Tangerine chicken: 4/5. It was crispy, tangy, and a HUGE portion. A slightly less intense flavor than orange chicken, which I liked. I wish it had a little more kick / spice though. Fried rice: 3/5. The fried rice itself was pretty yummy, but the beef was kind of a letdown. Didn't really feel cooked all the way/ not tender. I would prob get the chicken fried rice next time. Fried dough: 3/5. By initial bite I was blown away, it was super soft and pillowy yet crispy on the outside, perfect complement with the condensed milk. Kinda tastes just like fried doughnuts without the toppings. However I think I can only eat max 2 before I feel sick. Wontons: 3/5. They were bad, they weren't good. It wasn't spicy enough so I had to add more chili oil, and it just didn't have that kick flavor that places like DTF does. But it did satisfy my cravings! We ate here today about 3:30. This is a nice clean restaurant that is in a very large plaza. There is plenty of parking. We always order several entrees and today we ordered the boneless pork, the orange chicken, skewered lamb with onions, and the squid cooked with celery. As an afterthought we ordered the onion pancake. First to come to the table was the celery with squid, and the squid was very tender, the celery set it off nicely. Orange chicken was next, it was tender and flavorful, a very solid dish although not something we would usually order at an authentic Chinese place. The boneless pork was tender and served in a good sauce, For my part, they messed this dish up with some seeds on top. I don't like seeds but that is just me. I picked around the wretched seeds and my wife will finish up the rest. Skewered lamb with onions was delicious, we both really enjoyed it. So that leaves the worst onion pancake I have ever had, it was about one forth inch thick and crispy like a cracker. Overall this was a very good meal, we enjoyed the food here and good service by a very pleasant staff. If we could half stars, this would be a 4 1/2 star review. Everything was good but the pancake, and hell, it is just a pancake at the end of the day. I would recommend, and would return if in the area. read more
