First time trying and studied the menu. Asked for waitress' recommendation, and She recommended the beef noodle soup right away. As a Taiwanese person, I am used to eating this dish. Just last weekend I tried one from Tasty House in Chino hills by 99 ranch, and BD cafe's version is by far the superior dish! The meat was perfectly marinated with flavor, juicy and tender to bite. The recommended thick noodles are chewy and has the perfect amount of Q. I was recommended the spicy version and boy was it just the right amount. Not for the faint of heart but not intolerable. It came with the side of "salted vegetables" for ultimate authenticity. Only thing I would say is I wish the salted vegetables are bigger pieces for more chewy goodness. The waitress was also very honest with me and not trying to make a sale like other wait staff often does. When I wanted to order spicy wontons, she looked at me with a questionable stare. I am a direct person so I asked what's on her mind. She suspected I wouldn't have room to eat the wontons with the hefty noodle soup, and she was right. 1 hour later, I am still sitting on the couch at home feeling full! Furthermore, I ordered the vegetarian radish cake and they gave it to me for free since they only had 2 slices instead of 3. The wait staff is honest and down to Earth, and really reminds me of myself and brings me pride to be a true Taiwanese. The Taiwanese tv playing in the background adds to the ambiance! Lastly, my curiosity got the best of me and I asked what's BD stand for. The waitress simply said 便當, or bento in mandarin. The food is great and it's gonna be a new favorite for me when I come visit! read more

It is a neighborhood spot with good comfort food. The restuarnat is clean and very welcoming vibe, they offered free peanuts next to the water pitcher; how cute is that! For lunch, we got the popular beef noodle, and BBQ pork bento. I like the bento presentation and the portion of each items. The BBQ pork was very flavorful, the meat was still tender, the garlic sauce added a little kick to it. The stir-fried veggie, tomato-fried eggs, and stewed tofu made it a balanced meal. I came back to try the spicy beef noodle soup and it did not disappoint. Interestingly at BD Cafe, you get your choice of thick, thin, or vermicelli noodles. I like having the flexibility to customize my noodles. I went with thick noodles because that's what my waitress recommended and chose medium spicy. This was a very good spicy beef noodle soup. It comes with a generous amount of tender beef and baby bok choy. The broth tasted clean and had just the right amount of spice. But the star were the thick cut noodles which were al dente and chewy. Every component of the soup was excellent. A bowl will run you about $15 bucks, but I feel like that's the going rate these dates. We also tried the spicy wontons (good as always) and an order of Taiwanese sausage. The raw garlic with the sausage was an unexpectedly good combo. I can't recommend BD Cafe enough. read more

The spicy beef noodle was absolutely delicious. The noodle was fresh with a chewy texture. The beef was fork tender and very flavorful. The broth packed with five spice and beefy flavor. It looks super spicy but it's not. Washed it all down with a cold tea drink infused with fruit grapefruit. It was so refreshing and they did not skimp on the fresh fruit! We ordered the pork belly rice bowl to go. It was good with lots of rice. The meat is tender and the fat felts in your mouth. The pickled vegetables balanced out the flavors perfectly. I have been to BD Cafe a few times over the years! I really enjoy their Taiwanese Minced Pork Belly. They have a version in the bowl for around $10 that comes with rice and a bento box version that comes with rice and 3 veggies (cabbage, seaweed, and cucumber the last time I went) for around $13. It is always delicious! The sauce that comes with the pork belly goes great on rice. Service wise, you can order at the counter or they may take your order for dine in. However, you usually have to go up to the cashier to pay when you're done. Not like a regular dine in where the wait staff brings a check to you. So be prepared to go up if you are trying to leave. Also, there were a few times where the restaurant closed at 3pm and they don't seat you for dine in if you come in around 2:40pm. I think they have more staff now and are open until 7pm but check the door to be sure. It is usually pretty clean in the restaurant. They have a self service water station and peanuts available for people to snack on (beware peanut allergy customers). Overall, good experience! read more

I moved from OC to IE and have had a hard time finding a good Taiwanese restaurant. However, BD Café was the saving grace to my cravings for good Asian food. I had the spicy beef noodle soup with the thin fat noodles and it was the top three the best tw beef noodle soup even including LA and Orange County. The place was so good that I decided to go again on the same week however this time we ordered stinky tofu taiwanese kimchi and the braised platter and everything was really good as well. The only gripe that I had was the waitress never really checked on us so every time I needed something I had to wave them down otherwise there will be no service and also you have to go get your own water across the restaurant with small cups. However, these could be overlooked if you crave some authentic Taiwanese noodle soup I highly recommend this place. read more

Small taiwanese restaurant located next to firehouse and a pho place. I was greeted quickly and the servers were really nice. They seem to have a lunch crowd going. The water is self serve. They also have a drink menu that seemed basic. I got my soup and it was scalding hot to my liking. Although the biggest turn off was house extremely oily the soup was. Every time I tried to take a sip of it, I would get pure oil. The lettuce that was in the soup would soak up the oil also.
