The biggest issue with Paintworks NYC was the gap between the sales pitch and the reality of the…read morework. We were sold a high level of attention to detail, including matching the existing finishes and textures, but in practice the apartment was largely painted the same way throughout. When we raised concerns, the response repeatedly came back to "the contract" rather than what had actually been discussed and promised during the sales process. My advice to anyone considering them is to get every single detail in writing. Most disappointing was the professionalism. At one point, language was used about having other clients with "real money" to deal with. That is simply not the kind of language or attitude you expect from a professional contractor speaking to a paying customer. They did attempt to come back and correct some of the work, but even that left items unfinished. Overall, a very disappointing experience and one where the sales promises were far stronger than the execution.

He did some additional work to the house which was not part of the plan. The currently residents were very happy with the job and the professionalism. The neighbors love the color. We found RJK Painting through a random Google search and weren't sure what we were going to get…read more We are SO GLAD we did! Ryan is not only one of the kindest people you'll ever meet, but his work speaks for itself. When he came to give an estimate, his prices were fair and reasonable, and he clearly explained a breakdown on what would be included with the job. He worked really hard to stay within our budget and gave us options on how to do so. He and his team showed up on time every day, were meticulous and professional, and even went above their call, moving things that we forgot about and fixing little things that weren't originally included as they saw them. The most impressive thing for us was after they applied one coat of paint in one room, I (through my own fault of choosing poorly) didn't like the color. Without hesitation, Ryan told me he could change it, and it's no problem at all. I said I didn't want to do that to him, as he had just spent half a day priming and painting that room, and he simply said "Don't worry about it. These things happen. You have to love your home. I'll go get another color. Just let me know which one." We, on our own, paid for the new paint and gave him a bit extra money for his time and trouble, but he never once asked for us to do that nor expected it. Overall, we are beyond impressed with Ryan and his crew. In a world of price-gouging, mediocre work, and unreliable people, Ryan and his crew are diamonds in the rough on all counts. Highly recommend!

Because of some other renovation hiccups, I had to postpone a couple of times and George was more than accommodating and even squeezed me in last minute when I was ready to go. My building is a bit of a nightmare. And unless you use their recommendation, gives everyone contractor a crazy hard time, including sending George and his employee Dan away the first time they came. Despite this, George and Dan could not have been more flexible and nicer about it. I have not had them paint yet, as I'm waiting to have some other work completed first (will update when they are), but I am so excited for when they do because the repaired walls look so much better already!!

Since…read moreI was keeping all my original fixtures (bathtub, sink, toilet) my main concern was they wouldn't be scratched or harmed in any way. Fred had to remove the old wall tiles, sheetrock and marble flooring before laying new glass tiles and ceramic flooring. My fixtures were unscratched. Their work was perfect. Then after this perfect job was finished, we had a leak coming from the shower body behind the newly tiled wall. Fred came back and worked with the plumber to remove four glass tiles in the wall so the problem could be fixed. Then he replaced the tiles so miraculously, one cannot tell which tiles were replaced. Aside from his superior craftsmanship, Fred is responsive and communicative. He and his crew were neat, punctual and completed the job on time, without added expense. To book Fred, you need to set up with him four to six months in advance. He's in high demand.

I almost want to hire Lewis again to redo the other wallpaper installed by someone else, as he did an amazingly perfect job. I hired Lewis to wallpaper two walls of my husband's Smoke Shop in Brooklyn. The walls were not in good shape and the wallpapers I chose had tricky patterns, and Lewis and his assistant did an amazing job! Seamless and looks perfect. We've already had compliments on the job he did from people walking by (we aren't open yet). . Lewis arrived on time and got right to work. He was also the least expensive of the five places I called to get a quote! Would absolutely hire him again in a heartbeat.

I was given no explanation as to why my request was being denied (scheduling, location, span of work, etc). When I inquired about a quote the owner asked me to measure the walls myself.... I'm not really sure why I was denied service ( I was never told), one can only assume some type of prejudice, but the representative had no tact or bedside manor.
