Not sure what took us so long to try this place out, but it's really good! It's a pretty small place, but the food is tasty. The pot stickers were hearty...almost enough to be a meal on their own. Definitely the best we've found in town. We ordered the Mongolian Beef (great taste, but could definitely be spicier) and the House Special Lo Mein (awesome flavor, but a smidge too much oil and salt). Will definitely visit again sometime. Update: The online ordering for this restaurant is terrible. After a full [exact] 60min after ordering, I called the restaurant for an update. The woman on the phone let us know it would be another 30min, although I heard the woman she asked in the background say it would be AT LEAST another 30-45 more minutes. The restaurant should be responsible enough to TELL their customers if the food is going to be a TWO HOUR wait and call to give the option to cancel. Update 2: Loved the place enough the first time to give it another shot. Called beforehand to make sure they weren't too busy for a carry-out. Ordered food, picked it up, and got home to find it wasn't what I ordered. Guess it's just bad luck with this place. :( read more

my friend and me visited the happy dragon Chinese food and lounge. we spent around $120. I was filling out the paperwork to complete my transaction, and before I could finish, the waitress said to me, oh no tip, thanks. for that one reason she got nothing. her rudeness and unprofessional attitude should be removed. I was going to gladly tip her. my vision is poor so I was making sure it was signed first. I had zero chance of adding a tip before she rudely interrupted my signing. going back tomorrow, 11/3/2024 to make sure management knows how rude their employees are. never going to try and spend money here ever again. Tried to order over the phone for pick up and was greeted with an answering machine that said to order online if they didn't answer. Well, online prices are much higher than menu prices and there was a convenience fee! Called back and got the answering machine again. Needless to say, I sucked it up and placed an online order. The food is great, when you get what you ordered. Michelle is very nice and arranged for me to get my order replaced at my convenience. The manager Li however is one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with in a customer service environment. Told me that even though the situation had been explained to her, she couldn't deal with it, she was busy and had customers in the restaurant and proceeded to hang up on me! Three different times! I wasn't asking for a refund, I wasn't asking for a huge order to be replaced. I ordered orange chicken, the 4th piece I bit into was shrimp and I can't stand seafood, especially shellfish. A simple mistake, I wasn't angry, just wanted a shrimp free replacement. Li should definitely find a different line of work or at least learn about good customer service and also speaking more clearly as I couldn't understand most of what she was saying. read more

A close friend of mine were customers on 11/02/2024. I was signing the receipt, had not even signed my whole name and the bartender tells me, (oh no tip, thanks). I had no time to even sign my name, who the hell acts that way as a bartender towards customers. I'm on disability because I went blind. I need to sign my name before I get to any other part of any receipt. Anyway, I walked home left my friend outside to wait for his ride. He calls me saying the bartender yelled at him and kicked him out because of what I did. First of all, I had no time to do anything before she wanted to guilt trip me. I don't know, the only reason she did not get tipped is because of what she said to me when I was trying to complete the needed paperwork. (Signing the receipts). I should not need to deal with that kind of rude service. Nobody should. I will continue to write bad reviews about Happy Dragon restaurant and lounge in Stayton Oregon. We faithfully purchase the wonton soup during the day with the owners who are amazing. Awesome customer service in the day, the best soup in town. We stopped in for the evening and we're treated horribly by the bartender/waitress? Not sure of her position. I tipped her generously, she stated she was going to throw it away. I am seriously clueless as to why she was so angry. We left distraught. This was 8:00 in the evening. We are hoping to mend this situation with the owner because we truly love their food. Absolutely the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. I came for lunch around 12:45pm. There was not one person in the restaurant other than me. There must have been people in the lounge. My server was very slow coming to check on me, not very friendly. I ended up getting up and leaving my money on the table because my server never came back after 30 minutes. I ordered General Tso's lunch special and the chicken was so hard I could not even cut through it with my fork. I wanted to give this place a good try since they are local, but was pretty disappointed with my experience First when I got to the restaurant to pick up my order no one was there, so I waited for a few mins for someone to pop out and said I'm here to pick up a Togo order. She went and checked on it, but said it will be another 20mins, so I go to wait in my car for 20 ish mins and come back to check in on my order. When I walked back in my order was still not ready that they were working on something else, but will be up shortly. Ok so I wait a few more mins and get my food. The gal was super nice and kept apologizing so no problem with her service. Got the food home and realized that their chow mein doesn't come standard with noodles... it comes with these crunchy things to put in it which I thought was strange, but ok I didn't select the pan fried noodles option on the menu when i ordered online, ok. The food was ok and I only ate it cause that's what I had for dinner. The fried rice was so salty I could barely eat it, the breading on the sweet and sour chicken was super thick and the chow mein without noodles was incredibly bland of flavor. The only decent part we're the cream cheese won tons which were alright. All in all I will not be going back to this place and that's a bummer cause I want to support local, but they've got a few things to work out on their end before I will try again. read more

Was in town for the weekend, staying nearby, and we wanted some Chinese food...great food. - It's a bit rough looking on the outside & inside, but the staff are super friendly and the food is very good. I really hate to say anything bad about any of our little town restaurants, but this was our very first experience with food in stayton when we moved here last summer , and we were really disappointed. I honestly don't even think it was chinese food. I hope they have changed their cooks since. I'm sorry but it wasn't Chinese. I think I could have cooked a better chinese meal at home. it had no salt , no flavor and .. it's hard to explain it just didn't taste like chinese food? I have never experienced that before from a Chinese restaurant . It was like they didn't quite know how to make it taste like right ? Excellent food. First timer, I am stuck in my house or bed, recovering from an accident. I can't walk so finding a place that is good and delivers score. Well I felt bad I only had 2 $20 dollar bills. So I really couldn't tip him because he didn't have change for a $20. Anyways I owe the driver a tip. Very nice guy. Ok back to the food, so good. We had Egg Foo Young, BBQ PORK Lo Mein and spring rolls. Omg it was so so good. I grew up in Los Angeles so compared to some places I have eaten, Happy Dragon is now a favorite. My son and I had a great dinner tonight. I arrived at the restaurant, paid for our entrees, and within 2 minutes I was leaving with our food. The cashier that took our order and settled the check was very friendly! My Beef and Broccoli was excellent. Lots of beef with nice fresh & flavorful broccoli and carrots. My son's Orange Chicken was made with a real Orange and appeared to not have any artificial coloring. He loved it! My only criticism is that the restaurant itself was a bit of a mess (hopefully re-working in anticipation of in-person dining again). We will definitely return! read more

So this place needs a little updating and housekeeping, but it wasn't filthy, just needed some attention in some places people probably hate to clean. This place is the literal "hole in the wall" restaurant. I've been here once before for lunch when it was called something different. It wasn't horrible food or service so I decided to try it again, as we just moved back to the area. As for the rest of the experience: The Soup was good! It was thick and creamy with lots of flavor. I'd rather it be thick than watery like so many places are. It could have been a little thinner, but I'm not really complaining. The portions for our main dishes were HUGE! My husband can put down food like its nobody's business, and he could only eat half. I got the #9 with pan fried noodles. the BBQ pork was tasty and thickly sliced, as was the almond chicken. Just really rich flavor. The sesame beef was good, but not the taste I was used to - still good, though. I tasted the general Tsao and it lacked spice, but not flavor. Perhaps we will ask for them to kick it up a notch next time. The only complaint I have is the pork fried rice, it just wasn't that great. The waiter was very friendly, he kept our waters full and even boxed our leftovers up for us, which was a nice gesture. All in all I will be back. It wasn't as disappointing as I had expected from the reviews. I give it four stars because the only thing I didn't like was the rice. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. Finally tried the delivery last week when I found out about it, and it was probably the best service for delivery in town. Quick, food was still hot, and they have a great pay online option, including PayPal, that has an order tracker so you can keep up on all of it. Had the salt & pepper shrimp (which was beautifully cooked, crisp, tender and just spicy enough to give a tingle), and the fried almond chicken (also delicious, crisp, and the chicken tender and juicy). Too bad I can't rate ZERO stars!!! Was told 45 minutes to Deliver (haven't requested a delivery in YEARS!), 1 hour after I received a call from the delivery got not able to find my address on GPS?!! First I've ever heard of any issues, easiest address but gave specific directions, he was able to pull up my address on GPS. 12-14 minutes he said, he was running late and overcorrected his timing on his previous delivery. 30 minutes after this...nothing! I call, the gal who answered was in a rush, said she gave him my info but he seems to be lost and she's busy in the kitchen. No solution or apology. Waiting...an hour later, I call, tell the gal to just cancel at this point. She tells me she'll call the driver in hopes of getting in touch with him, NO you're going to remove this charge from my account, I could care less about the driver's wear about! No sympathy, no apology, no customer service what so ever!!! Disappointing! Their menu looked good, the original guy I ordered from was extremely nice and welcoming. It's truly a shame that I will never be a customer because of this experience! And starvation and frustration don't even cover my thoughts... DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM, THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE NOR DO THEY HAVE ANYTHING "TOGETHER"! THIS ESTABLISHMENT WILL NOT BE OPEN MUCH LONGER AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. The atmosphere is lacking for sure. The flooring, seating, and decor in general could use updating. The waitress was fantastic and is the main reason for more than 1 or 2 stars. She was very friendly, interacted well with the children, and got everything right. The General Tso chicken was okay. A bit of it seemed over cooked and it wasn't spicy at all even with a request for extra spicy. The lemon chicken was over battered and the sauce was kind of bland. The egg flower soup was great. It was thicker than a lot of places and tasted better than most too. The rice was nothing to rant or rave about. The strawberry lemonade was great and came with huge chunks of real strawberries. The crab puffs were pretty good. Overall, I don't know if I'd go back, but I also wouldn't recommend against giving it a try. read more

I was also told it would be a 45 minute wait until the food was ready which was not a problem for me, but when my niece went to pick it up she had to wait another 15 minutes or more for them meal.
