On the contrary, service here could not be more friendly. Did a flight while sitting outside which was enjoyable throughout; wine was like-not-love until the end. They were a bit more heavy on the cabernet sauvignon that I would expect a central coast winery to be, but it was good stuff. The best one of course was the last one, which was the Ten Goal. Really well rounded and full bodied red with lots of fruit. I ended up shipping 2 bottles back home I liked it so much. Loved the vibe here and how down to earth they were. I hate the snootiness of wine culture and there was none of that here. Just really well made stuff. Will be back next time I'm in town! read more

Meh, I thought this place was OK. It was my first time wine tasting in Santa Barbara and honestly think I should've just gone to a nice restaurant for a glass of wine. I had the Mixed Tasting Flight. The server was very skimpy with the pours. The flight has 5 different wines and all 5 pours barely made 1 glass of wine. My plus one got a different tasting flight of all reds and I felt like the server was over bringing two bottles to the table and just started pouring us the same ones. We also had to remind her about the 5th glass (she had thought she poured 5 but it was actually 4). I wasn't really impressed so I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

The server charged my credit card for another customer's order, and when I called to get a refund, he refused to fix his mistake. Instead, he told me to track down the other customer myself and ask them to Venmo me--are you kidding me?! This is beyond unprofessional--it's outright fraud. A business that refuses to correct its own billing errors and pushes the burden onto customers should not be trusted. What a lovely tasting room! My hair stylist said their Rose is the best she has ever had, so I had to stop here on our day trip to Santa Barbara. Their space is hidden in a gorgeous courtyard off State Street, kind of tricky to find. There are a few tables outside, but it was too hot to sit out there, so we took a seat on a leather couch in their classy, comfortable back room. I wish I remembered our servers name, he was wonderful. I loved that we were left alone in the room to enjoy our wine, then he would come back and pour the next tasting after we were finished. I ended up purchasing two bottles to take home, which waived the $20 tasting fee. Their 2020 Piocho Sauv Blanc and 2017 Piocho Red Blend were my favorites of the five we tasted. I did ask about the Rose since I didn't see it on the menu. He said it always sells out fast and they have been out of it for months. I joined their email list to get notified when it is released again in February, I will definitely be ordering that online with some more of that delicious Sauv! Popped in here on a lark as we were waiting on one of our usual tasting spots to open up a couple of seats for us. The courtyard area is lovely, wide open and benefiting from the area's Mediterranean climate. We each had a glass instead of a tasting course, and the wine was pleasant but nothing I would seek out. Of course, your mileage, and preferences, may vary quite a bit. On a side note, if you into polo, they seem to be into it as well. read more

Stumbled upon this place while hitting up some wine tasting places in the area. Located Within a small Plaza, this is a cute quaint place. Has some seating by the bar and then more seating in a back room. The owner was a Polo player and everything is horse themed. They even had horse wine pourers! The tastings are $15 for 5. I really enjoy sweet wines and many of these were light and sweet. Really liked them. We also got their dark chocolate to go with the wines. It was delicious. Not bitter at all and very creamy. Could give 0 2020 we pulled up and he practically yelled at us saying "WE'RE NOT SEATING ANYONE" we dipped because we didn't wanna deal with his attitude. We came back to redeem a voucher and he was quick to say "we don't do that" and we explained that it was redeemable last year and he's like "that was because of covid" which didn't Make any sense. And then changed it to "I've never see that before" he took a closer look and he was willing to seat us because he read the location as a listing but it was obvious he wasn't willing to take the voucher. Later he came back to us to tell us that the app was an scam and fake and he proceeds to Tell us that he can even sue and I know that's not how you handle customer service. He made it seem like he was telling us that we were trying to scam him or he would sue us, whatever it was it was the nasty attitude he had. He told us he called all the other Locations on the list and that they won't take us. This was definitely a lie, we were still up for wine tasting and willing to pay so we went to the next location and ordered. We still asked about the app and the owner was so nice and she knew what we were talking about and still honored the voucher! She mentioned that she is not going to renew her contract with the app but she didn't explain any personal issues or "suing" anyone. This place ain't so happy read more

*** 4.5 stars *** Happy Canyon did a tasting at our hotel (The Canary) and were so impressed by the 2012 Piochot Red Blend (a steal for $32 a bottle) that we stopped by the tasting room the next day to pick up some bottles. The room itself is really lovely; they have a bar area and a very cozy equestrian themed back room, from where you can do your tasting. They were so friendly and helpful here, and the Piochot wine club such a steal, that I signed up on the spot ($162 for 6 bottles, 2 times a year, FREE shipping, 2 tastings waived per visit). The 2012 Piochot Red Blend was still my favorite of all the wines we tasted and is what sold me on the club, but everything was good! read more

Tasting of 5 wines for $10. Stumbled upon this place after a Yelp search, since we were getting close to 5pm, and this tasting room was open until 6 on Saturday. Service here was GREAT! We were greeted right upon entry, checked up on for the next tastings (or respectfully given extra time, if needed). Staff was knowledgeable of their wines and answered any questions we had. The setting was beautiful as well; the furniture was cozy, and the rooms had a really nice "country" feel to them. I didn't end up buying any of the wine because though I enjoyed the tastings and ranked some higher than others (Piocho 2011), I didn't absolutely love any of the ones I tasted to buy a bottle and lug it around SB. We realized we accidentally stayed a little after they closed and we weren't rushed out at all. Everyone and everything was pleasant about this experience. I've been to this tasting room 5 or 6 times and always enjoy myself. Savannah and Paris are wonderfully social and a joy to chat with. My favorite wine on their list right now is their Barrack Family Blanc 67% Semillon, 33% Sauvignon Blanc.Buttery, oaky, nutty and hints of vanilla. Most of their wines are quite complex blends with 4 or 5 varietals. I greatly respect and revel in an expertly crafted blend and if you do as well, you should give this place a try. I love how they've decorated the front tasting room and the back lounge area. Polo themed, it has an upscale(but not pretentiou) and prepy vibe yet very comfortable and cozy. I highly recommend this tasting room and look forward to my next visit. read more

While making our rounds around El Paseo we came across this place. It is right in the heart of the action but tucked away from the main street so you can enjoy the tasting in peace. It has a nice interior with a polo theme. There is seating at the bar and a more casual looking seating area with couches. The service was great. The person helping us was very knowledgable. Happy Canyon was a great recommendation. The service was outstanding. The guy that helped us was able to several people at a time, while maintaining good conversation with all of us. I know that sounds pretty generic, but not everyone can accomplish that successfully. The wines were great and were moderately priced. In fact, they might have had the most moderately priced wines in that area. We picked up a bottle of Piocho and enjoyed it at home. Their Rose was even pretty good and I'm not a Rose fan at all. If I could have put a -5 stars I would have done it. We visited the El Paseo location on a Friday and only 2 woman were sitting at a table for four. All the other tables for 2 were available. We were 4 adults and wanted to be seated together and the guy working there basically said "I would really appreciate it if you would go somewhere else." We were really nice to him and he looked stressed out and what we were asking seem way too complicated. We were happy to take our business next door to Grassini. If you don't enjoy working in the hospitality industry, then don't. This attitude is really hurting the brand, I'm never buying wine from "Happy" Canyon! read more

We were visiting California and headed to LA to stay with couple of friends therefore wanted to give them some good wine. We stumbled across this place accidentally but couldn't be happier! This hidden location away from the mainstream tourists was a spot for myself and my husband. And they offered us a wine tasting which could be reimbursed if you purchase 2 bottles. Their wines are excellent and the 2 gentlemen working there-one of them was still training, were real great wine experts truly passionate about this beautiful beverage. The worker rudely said "NO CHILDREN OR DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OUR TASTING ROOM" and told us to leave in a rude manner. Considering they are located in SB, which has plenty of amazing tasting rooms who are very dog friendly, this was uncalled for. We even offered to sit outside.
