Happy Buffet is considered for Children and Family to attend. Under 10 get discounts !! Went with my friend, Brian, rated 5 on restaurant food. 0 star on the cake . It takes like foam and a sponge . Other than that the service (and ice cream) is greeeeattt!!!! Want a buffet close by, cheap, and greeaaattt?! Go the Happy Buffet at 25345 Charles M Lankford Jr Memorial Hwy, Onley, VA 23418!!

Every day, time, perspective and personal palette could provide a different rating and review. I rate this eatery based on what kind of eatery it is and not in comparison to say fast food or 5-star. It's lunacy to read reviews that down rate places by comparison. That being said, we arrived for Lunch at 1300hrs in order to miss the lunch crowd, but still while it should be busy enough to ensure good turnover on the buffet and thus fresh food. We found the buffet well stocked, the warming lamps all heating, and the food warm and palatable. The sushi is your basic, no-risk rolls. If you know sushi, then you know that this means basic veggie, cooked, fried, and some Tuna components to the rolls. They do make rolls upon request and they have a book by the sushi station that lists the rolls they can make. The rolls were fresh, being steadily made as I devoured what was there. They were well made and tasted just fine. In comparison to other Chinese style buffets that offer sushi rolls, there were more options readily available and I would comparatively say that these would rate a 5 to other similar Buffet's 3 or lower rating. Again, this is not a sushi place and these are basic rolls. The rest of the cuisine was delicious and I would say as good as the best I've ever visited fir a buffet and far better than most. The seafood was all quite excellent. The fried chicken wings were good once past the batter. Even when fresh, the batter on fried chicken tends to get dry and hard on chicken that's under heating lamps that's either white meat or small like wings. A light stream bath would rectify this issue. However, the meat inside was perfectly delicious, and if you grab fresh wings, then you'll find the coating crispy and delicious too. I specifically make this comment because there are a lot of folks out there with dentures, etc who struggle with hard or crunchy foods, so they'd love to know to remove the skin first. The desserts are standard buffet but the ice cream comes in individual serve cups and MANY flavors, mostly fruity sherberts, of which my favorite was the Lemon. The options seemed to make all the customers very happy and that freezer was always a busy spot! I think the lunch price (see posted picture labeled 31MAR2016) is an outstanding value! The service was steady and good. Employees were constantly cleaning the tables and buffet. I found no reason to give this buffet style restaurant anything less than 5-stars at this time.

Not bad, but not great. Definitely better than giving my money to the wife beater that owns Dragon House.

The sushi is decent and the guys who run the hibachi have a good grip on what they are doing.

It was lunchtime, and we passed the Sage Diner, which was packed, so we turned around and decided to stop in. This is not a fancy place, and it seemed like about 99% of the customers were locals. The hostess greeted us and seated us in a booth. Shortly after, a gentleman came over to take our drink order. We both ordered tea. I tried mine and didn't care for it -- it tasted like fountain tea -- so I switched to a soda. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, which came with a cup of soup. She chose the bean soup. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, which also came with fries and a cup of soup; I chose the cream of crab. When the food arrived, it looked pretty good at first. My wife liked her soup, but the meatloaf was extremely dry and had a strange seasoning to it. The mashed potatoes were real, with large chunks of potato in them. My prime rib sandwich special was overcooked and came with cheese. I was expecting thinly sliced, shaved prime rib, but instead the meat was cut very thick -- about a quarter inch -- and was tough. The cream of crab soup was disappointing. The first thing you notice is a heavy spoonful of Old Bay on top. When I dug in, there was barely any crab -- just a few chopped particles, which didn't feel acceptable for cream of crab. I ended up eating the prime rib plain with some BBQ sauce just to get through it. Overall, we don't think we'll be returning. There were a few other places we passed farther down the road that likely would have been a better choice.

First time there, and I did go to them, but since she ignored me, I thought I just had to sit. Here's an idea, if all you do is charge people for dining, maybe pay attention when they go up to you to tell you that they're dining and charge them so they can do that. Anyway, the variety of food is great, however, the taste was not too good. The steak, which I didn't serve myself, was incredibly dry. You could tell from just looking at it. It was so dry, you couldn't cut it. The food in general was pretty bad. All of it was overcooked and just sitting there, even though the place was full of people. The flavors were off. Yes, they had tons of seafood, several soups although my favorite which is wonton, was not good. The potstickers were also not good. The flavor was off again. I would say that the best they had was their noodles (lo-mein) and their ice-cream cones. I didn't try the cakes, which they had several but I don't like cake. However, maybe people who like cake would appreciate them. It is very cheap. I wasn't disappointed because I wasn't expecting much to begin with. All you can eat for $16.99 is cheap, but I wouldn't go there again. I'd rather eat less but eat something that's good.
