Love this place and all the goodies they sell. Just the smell when you enter is already awesome and makes you want to buy everything!!! My favorites though are the apples. I tried many different ones over time and even the pear this time and they are amazing!!!

This is a nice little candy shop in Helen, GA. When you first walk in, you're greeted with the amazing smell of chocolate! Behind the counter, you'll see employees hard at work making yummy confections. They have a large selection of lots of different types of chocolates, taffy, and other treats. My boyfriend and I ordered six truffles, two dark chocolate cappuccino, two milk chocolate, and two regular dark chocolate. They were pretty to look at and tasted delicious! My family also purchased some truffles and enjoyed them. The prices are a little high, but I felt the quality was good and worth it, and they do have specials if you buy larger amounts of goodies. The store was a little packed so it's kind of tough to see all of the options in the cases plus this was during COVID-19 so I was trying to keep my distance from people as much as possible. It's definitely worth stopping in for a sweet treat if you're in the area!

I love chocolate. I ended up at the factory store which is located next to the liquor store. The girl that was in the shop was super helpful. I picked up chocolate boxes for gifts and also some strawberries dipped in chocolate. I think I went to the main store 3 times They have lots of variety. If you want to see fudge being made go to the main store.

June 2015 Tony, Noel and I were in the Little German Village of Helen, GA we visited the Hansel and Gretel Candy Shop. It smelled heavenly!! I love to smell chocolate but I'm not a huge chocolate eater!! I do like a really good Dark Chocolate but not much of a milk chocolate person. I just love the village.

Lets start with poor welcoming and a definitely NO to use the restroom. The lady at the counter was not friendly no customer service skills at all! I asked if I could take photos and she replied with a dry: I guess, go ahead. Really?!? This is your business and you want everybody to come to your store. There is a great variety of chocolate products. Everything you can imagine. Pricy, yes, extraordinary flavor, no. I got a box of 4 chocolate covered Oreos for about $10, Uff...and a box of coconut truffles for around $13. They are ok. Nothing fancy. The store is super clean and organized. The variety is great. But nothing like a creamy flavorful Lindt chocolate.

Hansel & Gretel is heaven in earth!!! Established in 1973 they specialize in hand-crafted gourmet chocolates & candies. They have so many options to choose from. From Caramel Apples/Pears to Truffles and Fudges. I'm obsessed with Caramel apples! I love them. I bought a Caramel, and a Chocolate and nut one. Both were super rich in flavor, and very fresh. When we were there, they also offered many different samples and they were all delicious. The service is great too. Definitely a great touch in Helen. Would probably buy something here anytime I'm in the area.

It's a lovely candy store with many different types of candy. I bought a 9 piece box of chocolates for about $11, and while they were good, they weren't the best chocolates I've ever had. I'm sure there are other items there that are worth a shot such as their candied apples and wrapped candies as well. I will have to go back and give it another try some time!

Smells like heaven when you walk in the door. The sweet lady who helped us was so kind and pleasant. We tried our truffles outside, and they were so good!

It's a tourist trap, but they have a wide variety of chocolate and candies. I bought a cappuccino truffle which was delightful.

After hiking at Anna Ruby Falls with my family. We stopped at Helen, Georgia to look around and…read moretake pictures. Since I don't live near here, it was my chance to buy some of my favorite fudges in the Brookstown Fudge store. Mmmm!! I could smell the delicious scent of fudge down the streets of Helen. At first, it smelled like hot chocolate and I was craving some hot chocolate but it soon passed and I was wanting to eat some fudge samples and get my hands on some fudge! I tried the fudge with peanut butter. It wasn't my favorite. I wasn't really fond of the peanut buttery taste of the fudge. The Mississippi Fudge - had marshmallows and nuts (forgot what kind). It was too sweet for my taste buds so I just went with my favorites which were: - Fudge with Pecans - Fudge with Walnuts - Milk Chocolate Fudge Today it was buy 2 slices of fudge and get the third free deal!! The slices were half a pound for $6.95. Hooray for homemade fudge!! Well you know what I mean! Yay!!

The city of Helen is a dangerous place to visit if you have a major sweet tooth. Fortunately, I do…read morenot. I prefer salty over sweet foods and rarely even leave enough room in my stomach for dessert after a meal. However, I do enjoy very limited portions of sweet treats every now and then. Brookstown Fudge is a wonderful little family-owned business which has been open since 1977. My sister, Yoomee H., absolutely loves chocolate, so she makes it a point to stop here whenever we visit Helen. The fudge here is what I imagine to be the perfect flavor and texture - not too sweet and not hard but not too soft, either. Yummy. I love that they provide complimentary samples of various different types of fudge, including ones that contain nuts like pecans, almonds, and walnuts. They also have unique flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl and Cookies and Cream, to name a few. Personally, I stick to the basics and like the Plain Chocolate best. During our most recent visit on a Sunday afternoon, my sister bought two half-pound slices ($6.95 each) of fudge to get a third free. Yes, that's almost $14 (technically almost $21!) worth of fudge. Way too much, if you ask me, but she loves her chocolate. However, be sure to eat the fudge within a few days (if not sooner) because they will dry out and harden (totally agree with Andrea L.). Not good, so don't let it happen. Aside from the fudge, I did get my very first (and LAST) Candy Apple here a few years ago. Having seen candy apples on TV and movies, I thought the bright red, candy-coated apple on a stick would be somewhat similar to a caramel apple, meaning I thought it would be soft when I bit into it. No idea why, but I seriously thought that the "candy" on the apple would be like a thick, soft candy, so you can imagine I was in for a surprise. I HATE biting into hard candy, and when I bit into my candy apple for the first time, I thought my teeth were going to break. HAHA... Although it was fairly tasty, it was difficult to eat and ended up getting VERY messy. I vowed to never buy a candy apple again. (I'll have it if it's free. Teehee.) Overall, Brookstown Fudge gets 4 stars for their tasty namesake - fudge. I'm sure everything else is delicious, too, but again, I don't really crave sweets so I haven't tried much else here. The employees are usually pretty friendly, too, and don't give you dirty looks for sampling even if you don't end up buying. They're always too busy to worry about things like that. I highly recommend Brookstown Fudge, and they have the "Buy 2 slices, get 1 free" special often (if not always), so be sure to gather some friends and family to share it with. Unless, of course, you can eat it all yourself. =) [Review 318 of 366]

When I walked in, the staff were super friendly and all smiles. The cashier/barista was such a sweetheart! They have a cheese market, deli, bakery bar, and coffee shop all in one! They sell all kinds of charcuterie items, from salami, cheese, jam, jellies, to coffee, candy, wine, and chocolates. They also sell cutting boards and other little trinkets. I absolutely loved that they sell "charcuterie for one" that has cheese, meats, and olives for a single serving on the go too! We saw that they had a lunch box special for sandwiches that includes a sandwich, cookie, pickle spear, and bag of chips for $12. What a steal!!! We decided to get the Jammin' Pig sandwich which is a panini pressed sandwich with ham, brie cheese, and cherry jalapeño jam. The lunch box was a great size and included Lay's regular potato chips and a chocolate chip cookie! They also sell other cookies and baked goodies (brownies, cakes, etc.) at the bakery bar area. The sandwich was probably the best sandwich I ever had in my life. Holy cow! The sandwich was pressed and grilled perfectly with nice grill marks and the meat and cheese was fresh! The brie and the cherry jalapeño jam melted together so nicely and added a creamy and flavorful element to the sandwich. The ham provided the saltiness that helped cut a little bit of the sweetness from the jam. The jam wasn't spicy at all. It was a beautifully balanced sandwich. My husband thought I was exaggerating (because I'm not picky with anything haha), but as soon as he took a bite, his expression was speechless. He loved the sandwich so much, that we decided to come back the very next day and ordered the same sandwich and tried another one. If you want to take another step, take a bite of the sandwich and then a bite of the pickle for that hint of acidity. It causes a umami effect with all the flavors dancing on your palette! For the lunch box special, you either get a chocolate chip cookie or the white chocolate cranberry one (I believe they alternate cookie flavors based on their inventory), but both cookies were delicious. The texture is not like other cookies as it's more like an oatmeal texture kind of deal. A little bit crumbly, but nonetheless, both flavors were very good and tasty. My husband ordered the Kickin' Horse sandwich the day after and he actually liked it better than the Jammin' Pig. His sandwich consisted of ciabatta bread, roast beef, muenster cheese, horseradish sauce, and onion, panini pressed style. I had a bite of his sandwich and all the flavors worked so well. The horseradish sauce brings out the roast beef flavor and enhances the muenster cheese. We tried some iced latte specials as well. We had the "Hippie Chick" that is a lavender honey flavored latte and the "Sweater Weather" which is a cinnamon and caramel? flavored latte. We absolutely loved the Hippie Chick latte and ordered another one when we came back, but the "Sweater Weather" wasn't our favorite. Respectfully, it tasted like a fall candle. It was good, but not the best we've had. Overall, we will definitely come back when we're in the area. The price was worth it for the amount of food that you get! Trust me when I say to get the sandwiches! You will not be disappointed!!! Now I'm craving their Jammin' Pig sandwich....

I was quoted about 30 minutes to be seated and was probably a little over that, thankfully with other parties leaving to get progressed through the list faster. Once we were seated though, the first thing our waitress said is that it was going to be another hour before the kitchen would have our food out. In reality, time from seating to getting our food was probably was closer to an hour and a half. I ordered the wiener schnitzel with potato salad and spätzle. Everything tasted very good. I enjoyed my schnitzel. I liked the flavor of their potato salad a lot but didn't care for peas being in it. That was a first for me. The spätzle was good. I did order it with some additional toppings which were missing when it came out. No way I was sending it back. The plain original one was fine and they fixed the check no problem before cashing out. All in all, I would recommend this place on the food if their was not a wait. I would be hesitant to recommend it if you get waitlisted outside because of how long it took the kitchen. I hope they get that figured out. On food alone I wpuld of gave them 4 stars. For me tonight and the overall experience, I have to drop it to 3.
