$$ My sister, AnnMarie, and I are visiting Helen Georgia for the weekend. We ended up at Hansel and Gretel's Candy Kitchen to check out their sweets. Pricing was very reasonable, and service was fabulous! Stepping into this delectable candy shop was amazing as the smell of chocolate just envelops you and a very large hug! Of course, we walked down the very large candy counter, picking out chocolates for later this evening, and they were very patient with us. They also had free samples of their fudge, and their brittles. They have a wonderful selection of sugar-free confections as well. I got to come up to Helen with my daughter last night and we had a great time and our first time at night in years Went down by the water, got a bite to eat, then did our stroll along the stores and ended up at Hansel and Gretel five minutes before they closed him, which I hate doing, but their food was already made and nobody was having to cook so I had to spend a few dollars on candy. The girl behind the counter was spectacular handled my cravings really well and I ended up getting Oreos for my daughter, and I had a selection of Petit fours and truffles, which were fantastic! I also got a couple of large pieces of peanut brittle and some pecan pralines all of which are some of the best I've had in a while. What a great place to get your sugar fix on, and the staff was super friendly, especially when they're about to close. Highly recommend! read more

From the welcoming faces to the samples everything was amazing. The creators were very familiar with their products and they even have a great stand alone sugar free collection. The layout of the display cases was perfect and easy enough to maneuver with an accessibly need. I was also very impressed with the peanut brittle! It reminded me so very much of my grandmothers recipe right down to the peanuts having their skin on and being whole to the sweet and buttery taste. Every one of my selected indulgences was delightful and deliciously crafted. Sign up for their sweet alerts, I did when I visited and it made my decision to revisit an absolute definite next time I am in Helen, GA. This is the cutest place and it smells glorious! We stopped in during a little walk around town and I am so happy we did. The employee working that morning was so sweet. We could have talked to her for hours. We bought a couple little candies and a chocolate covered cookie and ate them a day or two later and they were still delicious. This is a nice little candy shop in Helen, GA. When you first walk in, you're greeted with the amazing smell of chocolate! Behind the counter, you'll see employees hard at work making yummy confections. They have a large selection of lots of different types of chocolates, taffy, and other treats. My boyfriend and I ordered six truffles, two dark chocolate cappuccino, two milk chocolate, and two regular dark chocolate. They were pretty to look at and tasted delicious! My family also purchased some truffles and enjoyed them. The prices are a little high, but I felt the quality was good and worth it, and they do have specials if you buy larger amounts of goodies. The store was a little packed so it's kind of tough to see all of the options in the cases plus this was during COVID-19 so I was trying to keep my distance from people as much as possible. I love chocolate. I ended up at the factory store which is located next to the liquor store. The girl that was in the shop was super helpful. I picked up chocolate boxes for gifts and also some strawberries dipped in chocolate. I think I went to the main store 3 times They have lots of variety. Great chocolate shop with lots of options. They are "famous" for the fudge, which is good. But I love the pralines and chocolate bars. You can purchase the fudge in blocks or small squares. I like the squares option so that you can try various flavors. The pralines were my favorite. The white chocolate covered marshmallows were very sweet. Would try milk chocolate next time. Give them a try while you are in Helen. read more

Lets start with poor welcoming and a definitely NO to use the restroom. The lady at the counter was not friendly no customer service skills at all! I asked if I could take photos and she replied with a dry: I guess, go ahead. Really?!? This is your business and you want everybody to come to your store. There is a great variety of chocolate products. Everything you can imagine. Pricy, yes, extraordinary flavor, no. I got a box of 4 chocolate covered Oreos for about $10, Uff...and a box of coconut truffles for around $13. They are ok. Nothing fancy. The store is super clean and organized. The variety is great. Hansel & Gretel is heaven in earth!!! Established in 1973 they specialize in hand-crafted gourmet chocolates & candies. They have so many options to choose from. From Caramel Apples/Pears to Truffles and Fudges. I'm obsessed with Caramel apples! I love them. I bought a Caramel, and a Chocolate and nut one. Both were super rich in flavor, and very fresh. When we were there, they also offered many different samples and they were all delicious. The service is great too. Definitely a great touch in Helen. It's a lovely candy store with many different types of candy. I bought a 9 piece box of chocolates for about $11, and while they were good, they weren't the best chocolates I've ever had. I'm sure there are other items there that are worth a shot such as their candied apples and wrapped candies as well. I will have to go back and give it another try some time! read more

Wow! This is a must visit if you have a sweet tooth. Homemade candies, and you can view them making it. The smell when you enter is so enticing you don't want to leave. They have samples of their many varieties of homemade fudge and peanut brittle. Delicious! Prices are good for high quality homemade chocolates and candies. Got the truffles home and they were old and dried out which is a major bummer! I wasn't going to beg for fudge samples since they weren't offering so I just bought whatever sounded good and some of them (Oreo and white pecan) were really bad!! I loved the tigers fudge and snapdragons and the kids loved the jawbreakers but that's all I would get in the future if I shop here again. read more

I only tried the fudge and peanut brittle here, and both were amazing. They have 2 different kinds of fudge -- one that they make with cream & butter and the other one. I highly suggest making a beeline for the cream & butter fudge, because it's amazing. You can also get smaller cubes of it if you're indecisive. It's in the back of the store as well as in the little rooms to the side. We got key lime, peanut butter chocolate, oreo, and mint chocolate fudge. All of them are amazing, but there's something about the key lime that makes it stand out. I was highly skeptical about it, because if key lime flavored yogurt has taught me anything it's that it can't replicate the key lime pie flavor. I'm pleased to say that Hansel & Gretel's absolutely nails it, and I can't stop eating it! They have samples around the store as well, and will let you have a taste of fudge that's not out either. I recommend coming in the morning when they open, otherwise it gets pretty packed. read more

I just spent $20 on fudge to bring home and they wouldn't let me use the bathroom because "Covid-19." Apparently, I was safe when I touched the door handle to enter, browsed the store, and used my credit card to pay. I'll also be safe when I eat the chocolate prepared by their employees. I walked in unmasked and no one refused to serve me, so if I'm not the "Covid-19" danger, then why I can't I use the restroom? As for the candy, it's probably good. It usually is...but I'm over the coronavirus lazy hypocrisy. read more

I love this place!!! Always have to get my fudge fix before I leave Helen. This is a candy kitchen in a very touristy area, so expect higher prices. I got 3 slices of fudge - chocolate peanut butter, maple and walnuts, and maple and provenance. So yummy but since it's so fresh and hand made, it goes bad quickly. Also got a 1/2 lb of pecan pralines, but they weren't the best. If you want good pralines got to go to Savannah. I do be back for gummies, snappers, and more fudge! read more

We saw multiple signs with the chocolate dipped pears. We went into the South location and the cashier looked it me as if I was crazy. She said she didn't think that was their store. I showed her the photo and she asked someone else. They said to check the other store. We went to the North location and were told they didn't have any either and they're only made on certain days. The cashier had one made for me that we could pick up later. I was stoked. Only to get it and bite into a pear that wasn't ripe. I was so let down. Why waste someone's time or money? Quite ridiculous. The apple we got was tasty though, that's the only reason they recieved a 2. They need to really work on their customer service. read more

Very friendly candy shop in picturesque Alpine Helen, Georgia specializing in fudge and chocolate. Very good selection. Delicious, rich hot chocolate available. Very good peanut brittle. It's a tourist trap, but they have a wide variety of chocolate and candies. I bought a cappuccino truffle which was delightful.

The hype is not worth what you pay for and get and the staff seems a bit irritated with the customers. There are a few things I've gotten from here I like - such as the caramel pecan marshmallows (beware they stiffen up fast) and the fudge pops that I truly enjoyed but everything else but a bit underwhelming. Some of the regular chocolate fudge we've ordered was hard as a rock and inedible. There were flies flying around the apples and chocolate covered strawberries that I observed in the store...a bit alarming. I hear the salted chocolate turtles are very yummy too. I'll give those a go next time. read more

This little candy shop is located in st Helen in the cutest German cottage. Right when you walk in there's an amazing overwhelming smell of fresh fudge and chocolate. Lucky for us they were making a fresh batch right when we walked in. The samples they give out around the shop is also a nice little treat for visiting guests.
