While the other local shop boasted of serving the delectable Blue Bell ice cream, I was personally inclined towards an establishment that prided itself on crafting its own in-house delights, just like Das Ice Cream Cafe. Luckily, as the tourist season had yet to reach its peak, we didn't have a long wait. However, I could easily envision this place getting crowded during summer. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that the wait, if any, would be well worth it. Upon arriving at Das Ice Cream Cafe, we were greeted by an overwhelming selection of flavors. In addition to the timeless classics, they also offered an impressive array of dairy-free options and a variety of alcohol-infused creations. If, like me, you find it challenging to settle on just one flavor, I highly recommend indulging in a flight that allows you to sample four different flavors. Embracing a sense of adventure, I eagerly selected their spaghettieis--a whimsical and playful delight. I wish I could have gone with a more interesting flavor beyond vanilla for the base because they had so many amazing options to choose from. It was still good and I luckily got to sample the scoops that other people in our group chose. It was a great experience. Genuinely sad we didn't have a chance to come back and get more ice cream here and try some more flavors! We stopped in on a rainy evening as they were closing and they stayed open a few extra minutes to let us get some ice cream, which we really appreciated. I got peppermint stick and my husband got chocolate oreo. This is the kind of ice cream you taste and IMMEDIATELY know it's made in house. It's smooth, delicious, and tastes homemade. The Oreo's were clearly not bought in a store, they had a really soft consistency. Very nice little gem located right next to Spice 55 in Helen, GA. We had dinner at Spice 55 and they actually requested we try the desserts at this establishment. Boy am I glad we did!!! They are up to Covid standards maintaining a clean establishment with some social distancing,l and hand sanitizer is offered upon entry. The staff were very attentive as there was a short line and they still acknowledged our presence, and insisted they'd be right with us on several occasions. Plenty of flavors non-alcoholic and alcoholic alike; only ice cream BAR in Helen. The flavors were spot on and there was a very good creamy churned texture to the ice cream. Probably the best ice cream I've had and Helen or anywhere else in a while. To date this has been one of the best artisan ice cream cafes I've ever been to. There are so many flavors in rotation and options for everyone from sugar free to dairy free to traditional to boozy adult only flavors. We met the owner and I loved how passionate he is about his craft and you can taste it in the high quality ingredients he uses and the way he asks for feedback because he wants to make it the best. We sampled the guanabana which is common in our culture and he wanted honest feedback to make sure he got it right...there were 5 of us so we ordered a variety of flavors and we can honestly say that you can't go wrong with any because they're all foodie fantastic. Awful service. The girl that kinda knew what to do was running the register. The new girl was trying to make the orders. She needed another week of training. Two sundaes, no alcohol, cost $16 and I left a $4 tip. Only for them to leave nuts off the order and totally screw up the orders. Not worth the money.
