It's like you died and went to candy heaven in here! Caramel apples, jellies, truffles, Chattahoochee Snappers (turtles), licorice, lollipops, candied nuts, pralines, chocolate covered pretzels and marshmallows...sooo much to choose from! We bought a number of things and so far ate the dark chocolate covered pretzels, which were yummy. My boyfriend's mom loved the assorted dark chocolates we brought back for her, saying they were creamy and delicious. One to remember in Helen!

A very yummy stop that you wanna make sure you do when visiting downtown Helen. When you walk in, you're greeted with the smell of delicious desserts. They had some samples around, which were also delicious. I ordered the fudge which I saw them making on a slab behind the counter. The fudge is so yummy not overwhelmingly sweet.

Every time I travel in this area my family and I go to this place. The staff are very nice and there are various homemade sweets here. It's a cute place to go to!

I have been coming back here every year. Those chocolate covered strawberries and Oreos get me every time Very friendly service inside and they get a lot of business in town. They do have a store on the outskirts which is the outlet. Def a wonderful stop anytime of the day.

A super adorable candy shop in Helen! It's got an enormous selection of chocolate, truffles, fudge, brittle, candy apples and more. If you're worried about blood sugar levels, they offer sugar free chocolate/candy as well. The line was super long when we were there, but moved along quickly as service was quick and friendly. We tried some fudge, chocolate covered marshmallows and truffles. Everything was delicious, though rather pricey. Come check this place out if you're visiting!

Very friendly store. Smells delicious, but bring cash, if possible, there is a fee to use a debit/credit card. Now, back to the goodies. Chocolate everywhere of course, but also a great selection of jelly belly, and gummy candies. We really enjoyed the selection and bought several items to enjoy over the next day or two. The only thing better than being a kid in a candy store, is being an adult in one. We will stop here for our candy fix anytime we are in the area.

This super cute candy shop is in the heart of downtown Helen. When you walk in, it smells like heaven. They have everything from fudge, to chocolates, to pralines, and so much more. I ordered 2 pralines. They were okay, but not the best I'd ever had. I did like that they had pecans piled high on the praline.

Love love love this place! Their fudge is definitely their speciality, but I couldn't pass up a caramel covered apple along with it. I noticed a lot of people picking out candies from "better times" and definitely wanted to try their wide selection of salt water taffy's. Such a cute place where you can watch them make their local goods and try a bunch of new flavors. Always packed too. So it looked like we weren't the only ones who loved this place.

This is one of my favorite treat spots in Helen. We stop in every single time. You really cannot go wrong with anything they make. Cases upon cases of different truffles and boxed candies. Tons of dipped apples. Candy shops are always a bit pricey, but this is totally worth the splurge. Go on, you know you want to - treat yo' self! My favorite is the red candy apple ($5). I would buy them 3 at a time if I were not so conscious of the price! So good! Pro tip: there are two locations. One in the middle of the madness and one at the very end. It is much more quiet and has parking right outside. They also have tours there!

Pricing was very reasonable, and service was fabulous! Stepping into this delectable candy shop was amazing as the smell of chocolate just envelops you and a very large hug! They also had free samples of their fudge, and their brittles. They have a wonderful selection of sugar-free confections as well. The staff, was very knowledgeable on what was behind the counter, and answered quite a few questions. If you love, homemade chocolates, this store does not disappoint! Safe travels

The girl behind the counter was spectacular handled my cravings really well and I ended up getting Oreos for my daughter, and I had a selection of Petit fours and truffles, which were fantastic! I also got a couple of large pieces of peanut brittle and some pecan pralines all of which are some of the best I've had in a while. So happy that I did! When I walked in, the staff were super friendly and all smiles. The cashier/barista was such a sweetheart! They have a cheese market, deli, bakery bar, and coffee shop all in one! They sell all kinds of charcuterie items, from salami, cheese, jam, jellies, to coffee, candy, wine, and chocolates. They also sell cutting boards and other little trinkets. I absolutely loved that they sell "charcuterie for one" that has cheese, meats, and olives for a single serving on the go too! We saw that they had a lunch box special for sandwiches that includes a sandwich, cookie, pickle spear, and bag of chips for $12. What a steal!!! We decided to get the Jammin' Pig sandwich which is a panini pressed sandwich with ham, brie cheese, and cherry jalapeño jam. The lunch box was a great size and included Lay's regular potato chips and a chocolate chip cookie! They also sell other cookies and baked goodies (brownies, cakes, etc.) at the bakery bar area. The sandwich was probably the best sandwich I ever had in my life. Holy cow! The sandwich was pressed and grilled perfectly with nice grill marks and the meat and cheese was fresh! The brie and the cherry jalapeño jam melted together so nicely and added a creamy and flavorful element to the sandwich. The ham provided the saltiness that helped cut a little bit of the sweetness from the jam. The jam wasn't spicy at all. It was a beautifully balanced sandwich. My husband thought I was exaggerating (because I'm not picky with anything haha), but as soon as he took a bite, his expression was speechless. He loved the sandwich so much, that we decided to come back the very next day and ordered the same sandwich and tried another one. If you want to take another step, take a bite of the sandwich and then a bite of the pickle for that hint of acidity. It causes a umami effect with all the flavors dancing on your palette! For the lunch box special, you either get a chocolate chip cookie or the white chocolate cranberry one (I believe they alternate cookie flavors based on their inventory), but both cookies were delicious. The texture is not like other cookies as it's more like an oatmeal texture kind of deal. A little bit crumbly, but nonetheless, both flavors were very good and tasty. My husband ordered the Kickin' Horse sandwich the day after and he actually liked it better than the Jammin' Pig. His sandwich consisted of ciabatta bread, roast beef, muenster cheese, horseradish sauce, and onion, panini pressed style. I had a bite of his sandwich and all the flavors worked so well. The horseradish sauce brings out the roast beef flavor and enhances the muenster cheese. We tried some iced latte specials as well. We had the "Hippie Chick" that is a lavender honey flavored latte and the "Sweater Weather" which is a cinnamon and caramel? flavored latte. We absolutely loved the Hippie Chick latte and ordered another one when we came back, but the "Sweater Weather" wasn't our favorite. Respectfully, it tasted like a fall candle. It was good, but not the best we've had. Overall, we will definitely come back when we're in the area. The price was worth it for the amount of food that you get! Trust me when I say to get the sandwiches! You will not be disappointed!!! Now I'm craving their Jammin' Pig sandwich....

Since I don't live near here, it was my chance to buy some of my favorite fudges in the Brookstown Fudge store. Mmmm!! I could smell the delicious scent of fudge down the streets of Helen. At first, it smelled like hot chocolate and I was craving some hot chocolate but it soon passed and I was wanting to eat some fudge samples and get my hands on some fudge! I tried the fudge with peanut butter. It wasn't my favorite. I wasn't really fond of the peanut buttery taste of the fudge. The Mississippi Fudge - had marshmallows and nuts (forgot what kind). It was too sweet for my taste buds so I just went with my favorites which were: - Fudge with Pecans - Fudge with Walnuts - Milk Chocolate Fudge Today it was buy 2 slices of fudge and get the third free deal!! The city of Helen is a dangerous place to visit if you have a major sweet tooth. Fortunately, I do…read morenot. I prefer salty over sweet foods and rarely even leave enough room in my stomach for dessert after a meal. However, I do enjoy very limited portions of sweet treats every now and then. Brookstown Fudge is a wonderful little family-owned business which has been open since 1977. My sister, Yoomee H., absolutely loves chocolate, so she makes it a point to stop here whenever we visit Helen. The fudge here is what I imagine to be the perfect flavor and texture - not too sweet and not hard but not too soft, either. Yummy. I love that they provide complimentary samples of various different types of fudge, including ones that contain nuts like pecans, almonds, and walnuts. They also have unique flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl and Cookies and Cream, to name a few. Personally, I stick to the basics and like the Plain Chocolate best. During our most recent visit on a Sunday afternoon, my sister bought two half-pound slices ($6.95 each) of fudge to get a third free. Yes, that's almost $14 (technically almost $21!) worth of fudge. Way too much, if you ask me, but she loves her chocolate. However, be sure to eat the fudge within a few days (if not sooner) because they will dry out and harden (totally agree with Andrea L.). Not good, so don't let it happen. Aside from the fudge, I did get my very first (and LAST) Candy Apple here a few years ago. Having seen candy apples on TV and movies, I thought the bright red, candy-coated apple on a stick would be somewhat similar to a caramel apple, meaning I thought it would be soft when I bit into it. No idea why, but I seriously thought that the "candy" on the apple would be like a thick, soft candy, so you can imagine I was in for a surprise. I HATE biting into hard candy, and when I bit into my candy apple for the first time, I thought my teeth were going to break. HAHA... Although it was fairly tasty, it was difficult to eat and ended up getting VERY messy. I vowed to never buy a candy apple again. (I'll have it if it's free. Teehee.) Overall, Brookstown Fudge gets 4 stars for their tasty namesake - fudge. I'm sure everything else is delicious, too, but again, I don't really crave sweets so I haven't tried much else here. The employees are usually pretty friendly, too, and don't give you dirty looks for sampling even if you don't end up buying. They're always too busy to worry about things like that. I highly recommend Brookstown Fudge, and they have the "Buy 2 slices, get 1 free" special often (if not always), so be sure to gather some friends and family to share it with. Unless, of course, you can eat it all yourself. =) [Review 318 of 366]

House of Jerky And Such is an intimate store around the main streets of Helen. They are dog friendly. In fact, the owner has a huge dog with her in the tiny store. Of course, I wouldn't come in with your pack of 12 dogs without warning. Just like their name implies, they sell jerky. And as I mentioned earlier, they have some exotic jerky like venison, wild boar, alligator, kangaroo, etc. But they are expensive. They are $8 for only 1.75 oz. I guess they're expensive because they are exotic and unique. I tried the alligator and the venison. They were flavored with soy sauce and had a slight, smoky flavor. The alligator was very tough and was moist. It was ok. The venison was good. I had venison jerky before, and they always tasted good to me. And House of Jerky's venison seemed no different. I wasn't a fan of the soy sauce flavor though. But for the price, I would just hunt a deer myself and make jerky out of the whole deer. That's much cheaper. Of course, you can get "normal" jerky and meat sticks here too. They were very spicy and peppery, which I liked. I did not get to try the scorpion candy, the crickets or the worms, unfortunately.
