Consisting almost entirely of single rooms and being designated a 24-hour quiet hall, Hansee is often given the unfair reputation of being an anti-social hall or one that's only suited for people who do nothing but study day and night. While you'll have some folks like this in any residence hall, the reputation is patently unfair for the hall as a whole and the majority of residents. Hansee is different, but that's part of the charm.
When it comes to the building itself, Hansee is the oldest and most elegant hall. Built in 1935 in Tudor style and situated amongst the trees of north campus, Hansee is reminiscent of the classical image of an east-coast university and provides sharp contrast to the rather boring and institutional architecture of the University of Washington's other residence halls.
In addition to its older demographic and unique architecture, Hansee is well-known across campus for it's annual Haunted House (held near Halloween) and Hall Ball (held in mid to late-Spring), two event's that I've been lucky enough to help organize this year.
If you're an student at the University of Washington and considering staying in the residence halls for another year, I strongly encourage you to consider Hansee Hall and the unique experience that it brings! read more
