Hearing of a Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant is music to my ears. Two of my highest regarded cuisines in one? There's no way this could be anything less than spectacular especially after seeing how hyped up this place is, right? Gotta be honest, I was left disappointed. I went with a calamari burrito which sounds incredible especially with the fusion in mind, and it was just...okay. Chewy calamari created strange bite and the filling just was fine. The fries were okay too and I think they had some type of seasoning on them? The flavor wasn't prominent. Went for a fried chicken taco and although the flavor was decent, the chicken was covered in slimy lettuce that was off-putting. The rest of the menu makes me want to come back but I'm not entirely sure it's worth the drive.
This place right here is amazing. If you are looking for fast casual lunch this is your place. If you are a fan of fusion this is also your place The combination between Korean and Mexican is a good concept. The flavors were authentic. It was also so simple. Being introduced to this restaurant has changed my life. This is one of my favorite places to go when I need something quick to eat, but that's gonna fill me up. They put a lot of toppings on the tacos so you will be full. The orders come out quick.
big fan of Hankook! Don't let the outside deceive you as there is a great food at a good price here. You can get a whole meal under $10 which is just crazy. I got the taco combo with fries and got the calimari taco and the shrimp taco. The calimari was okay but the shrimp taco was delish and very full! The sesame fries were also delish. This place is no frills korean fusion food that brings me back to Takorea (their other location!) that closed. Definitely want to go back and not to mention the staff was super nice. The parking lot is small definitely worth finding a spot if you can get one!
We've been devouring this place for the past 13 years and it still tastes as good as the first time we visited it. I can't get over the sesame fries , always on point. I usually get the bulgogi and fried chicken tacos, always a consistently good combo. I'm also a fan of their Bibim-bop and I just gave the fried mahi mahi tacos a try. Definitely a good switch up from my usual tacos. We love this hole in the wall taco shop and the service is always pretty good.
Popular hole in the wall spot for GT students and all the like (even Guy Fieri!) Got the calamari and fish tacos, with a side of sesame fries. Tacos came on flour tortillas, fillings were fine, topped with shredded iceberg lettuce. Tortillas were straight out of the bag. Sesame fries were beer battered fries with a hint of sesame oil, with a side of chipotle ketchup (which I thought was kimchi ketchup). Didn't really experience the fusion aspect with what we ordered, but overall, not the best tacos. Fries were good, but also expectedly so since they're probably straight from the freezer to fryer to table.
What's better than tacos?! Korean style tacos! Bulgogi was my favorite. Fish was delicious as well. $10 for 2 tacos and fries - I'd say that's a deal!

I was actually blown away by how bad these tacos were compared to my expectations. They were definitely EDIBLE, but felt more like bad dining hall food than anything. Bulgogi: The beef was not seared at all. In fact, it tasted boiled. It was tender enough, but had a thoroughly overcooked chew to it. Fried Chicken: This did not taste like Korean-style fried chicken at all. It was more like frozen chicken tenders. The shredded mozzarella cheese definitely fit the dining hall food aesthetic. Shrimp: I liked this one a bit more than the bulgogi and fried chicken, but still nothing special. Fries: These are what saved this review from being a 2/5. The fries are actually very good. Well-seasoned and crispy. The tacos are loaded up with a hefty amount, so the value for your dollar is okay. Service is also friendly and fast. The premises feel a bit dirty, both the floors and the tables. The water from the fountain machine had a slight hint of mold. TL;DR These tacos are honestly pretty darn bad. I've had Korean-style tacos in LA, Boston, Chicago, etc. but these have been the worst.
A no frills Korean-Mexican (hence the name) (Hankook = "Korea" in Korean) lunch is a must go if you want excellent fusion food at excellent price to value. If you come during lunch rush you'll see a fast merry go round of cars coming in and out because of the speed and volume of customers! (Less than 10 minutes for orders) I highly recommend: 1. Sesame fries (with the special ketchup)!! Perfect blend of crispy and sweet 2. Fried chicken taco (nicely breaded and fried church with a nice aioli)

Hankook Taqueria has been a staple in Atlanta's food scene for YEARS, and for the past 15 of my years, it's been one of my top five go to spots. They are absolutely amazing in every way! Yes, the location is older, and parking can be a challenge, but if you time it right, you're in for some of the best tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and french fries around. Every time I'm in the area and can find parking, I make sure to stop by. Their crispy chicken tacos? Easily some of the best I've ever had. Their quesadilla? Top tier. If you know me, you know I love a good quesadilla, and Hankook does it right. And don't sleep on their french fries... they're the perfect finishing touch to an already amazing meal. Fair warning: it gets busy, and parking can be tricky. You might have to hunt for a spot, but trust me, it's worth it. Just be ready because once you try them, you might ruin all other tacos and quesadillas for yourself! Have you been to Hankook? Another workplace order! Apparently, according to my sister when I told her about my lunch, she says that I had had this place before maybe like 6 years ago! I didn't remember, so it was like I was experiencing it with fresh eyes (and taste buds)! I chose the Beef Bulgogi Burrito with kimchi fried rice + side of Sesame Fries. The sesame fries are delicious--much better than the sugary ones over at Yumbii that I used to enjoy before my boyfriend pointed out that they were sweet. The burrito was delicious as well--large and jam packed with ingredients. The beef was a little tough but it meshed well with the other elements to where it wasn't super noticeable. Over all, I enjoyed my meal and look forward to trying more!

There was just a lot of fries (and nachos) and for the price, it was just too good. It was spicy, cheesy, meaty, a bit sour from the kimchi. The fries were crazy since I haven't had those type of fried...fries in so long. Last I remembered I had was maybe at an Applebees? or Chiles. Anyways please please try the French fries it's so good. Another plus to the overall experience was that the food came out so fast. So you won't be waiting long if you come here hungry
I happened to be watching local news and they mentioned it was National French Fry Day. They proceeded to show Kimchi fries only at Hankook Taqueria. I jumped in my electric car and laid rubber so I could beat the lunch rush. One car beat me to the punch so I took a deep breath, sucked in my soon-to-be expanded belly and sauntered up to the counter. The staff was so friendly and efficient giving me all the lowdown on the insane Korean infused French fries. This poutine-like extravaganza came with queso, ketchup, fried eggs, kimchi, and (my add) fried chicken! I quickly prayed the restaurant had a defibrillator after I consumed my entire daily calorie intake. This dish was out of this world outstanding! This is a 'one and done' experience, but I have no problem returning for one of their many delicious looking Korean fusion items. read more
This place is clearly a favorite among people who work in the area. It was packed during the lunch rush, which is always a good sign. Parking is limited, so plan accordingly. If you're dining in, they'll bring your food to the table, and the staff was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't for me. I ordered the Bowl Combo with bulgogi, kimchi rice, salad, and sriracha, and the combination of flavors felt overwhelming rather than complementary. The bulgogi itself was well cooked, but the overall bowl lacked balance. The dumplings were also disappointing--they were dry and didn't have much flavor. Based on how busy the restaurant was, I'd be willing to give it another try and order something different. My experience may have been more about my menu choices than the restaurant itself. read more
It was time to catch up with E and as always, we wanted to try somewhere new. There were a few options and we decided on Hankook Taqueria. I had never heard of Hankook Taqueria, however the reviews were amazing and the photos made me hungry. LoL! Arriving at Hankook Taqueria, I am so glad I arrived early as the parking lot is very small and fills up very quickly. From the time I arrived until the time E pulled up, 20 minutes had passed and the parking lot was loaded. I knew then that I was in for a treat. Walking into Hankook Taqueria, the establishment is very straightforward. You walk through the door, the food line is in front of you. A few tables and booths to your right. And, the drink machine to your left. Boom! That's it. That's your tour. lol! As I got in line, I already knew what I wanted. Based on the pictures I had viewed on Yelp, I was ready to order. The line moved quickly and we were up to the register in no time. The young lady behind the register was very pleasant. She greeted me with a smile, and was ready for me to place my order. I decided to get the Beef "Bul Gogi" Burrito and Fries. The Beef "Bul Gogi" is beef marinated in a sweet/savory Korean BBQ sauce and served in a burrito wrap with Kimchi Fried Rice and the fixings. Oh yes... I needed this. Of course I decided to get the combo and pair it with fries. OhMyGoodness!!!!! I had no idea that food could be so good. The beef was tender and well seasoned. The Korean BBQ Sauce paired so well with the natural juices of the beef. The Kimchi Rice (my first time having it) was amazing as well. I provided an added texture of chewy goodness. The flavor profile of the rice was a nice balance of savory and heat. The heat wasn't a hot spice but it was a flavor spice that kicked the beef and bbq sauce up a notch. This was a true 10/10. The fries were an experience themselves as well. They were fried to golden perfection and the coating on them made them even better. They weren't too salty nor were they bland, they maintained the natural potato flavor and had the right level of salt to enhance the flavor just enough to make you lick your fingers. All I know is that Hankook Taqueria is the bombbbbbbbb and I am hooked. I have to go back now and try the Beef "Bul Gogi" nachos, quesadilla, and loaded fries. I've been to this place twice and I just flat out dint like it. I am really not a fusion person but I tried it because of the reviews and I feel like the reviews are misleading because the food is mediocre at best. I got the bimbibap bulgogi it was okay , it did not taste like traditional bimbibap and I don't like the sauce that is on top of it. I also tried their special taco of the day which was the carne asada taco with tempura Roma tomato and that was just okay too but packed flavor. read more

Great food at an even greater price!! I ordered the $10 taco combo and oh my goodness it was delicious. The Korean Mexican fusion is a great food combination. I ordered the with the Crispy Chicken "TONG DAK" (crispy chicken with chipotle aioli sauce), Chicken "DAK GOGI" (grilled chicken marinated in spicy Korean BBQ sauce) and sesame fries (tossed in sesame oil, seasoning and red pepper flakes). The service was good and I loved the comfortable and feel of the restaurant. They were also on Triple D! read more
THE SESAME FRIES ARE STRAIGHT FIRE. Take the texture of cajun/curly fries (that flaky/thicker fry) and add in the flavor of fries with an asian twist to it. My fries were served fresh! Hot, crispy, tasty - chefs kiss. The burrito itself was alright - nothing amazing, but good value. I got a crispy chicken burrito and I was full after eating half of it. $12 for the burrito and fries, I'd say that's pretty good value. Despite a lacking interior with kitchen staff that come off as unfriendly, I'd definitely return for the fries and to try their other protein choices. Don't let appearances deceive you. Hankook Taqueria is a little rough around the edges, if 'rough' means a veritable shack in the middle of nowhere. There's not much to say or admire about the ambiance except to warn you to expect some grunge. But for all that, it's easy to see why they receive so much love from local diners when this little hole-in-the-wall serves up some solid Korean-Mexican fusion fare with very reasonable prices. Every taco, regardless of the chosen protein, was a measly $4, which made it easy for us to order to our heart's content. The husband and I were enormous fans of the fried proteins - the shrimp, calamari, and chicken - because they weren't only well-seasoned, but also a little hotter in temperature. The tofu didn't seem to receive as much love in the seasoning department, but I appreciated its presence on the menu for all the non-meat eaters out there. What surprised us most were the sesame fries, which can be ordered both as a side, or as a combo with two tacos (for ten dollars). I appreciated the barely-there whisper of sesame oil (because I've seen other fusion places ruin their fried taters with too much of it), and there's a light sprinkling of sugar. Yes, sugar. You'd think it'd be strange, but it added a little something special that set them apart from your average fry. And paired with their chipotle ketchup? Delicious. Service was efficient, with orders taken at the counter and having them delivered to our numbered placards within minutes. On a random Wednesday night, the tables were surprisingly full of hungry diners, and there was a steady line of takeout orders, which just speaks to how little the local populace cares about how this place looks. That said, the parking lot out front is a little small, so expect to get a little creative with carving out space for your car if there's a crowd inside. read more
I was so sad when their other location Takorea closed down a few years ago, so I was excited to finally make my way over to Hankook. It's a pretty small parking lot but I came for an early Friday dinner and was able to find parking! This place is pretty no frills, but the staff is super friendly and helped me with placing an order. I just got a taco combo with the beef bulgogi taco and a pork taco with sesame fries and a soda. The food came out super fast which I appreciated and I was able to snag a booth as well. I loved the sauce on each and the price to value here just can't be beat. The star of the meal though has to be their sesame fries. OMG. I literally finished them all!! Overall, great quick service meal with some interesting flavors. Definitely check them out. read more

This is truly one of my favorite spots in Atlanta. It's quaint, very casual and VERY good. The tempura avocado tacos are the BEST and you can never go wrong with a basket of the sesame fries (make sure you get extra of their ketchup!). They post their daily special tacos on their Instagram stories everyday so you can make sure you go when there's something you want to try. We also tried the nachos on this visit which were great! Hankook is sooo good and I tell everyone who comes into town to try it!! read more
Save yourself the trip and don't come here. I'm telling you right now, I KNOW there are some rave reviews, and there's some excitement because of the food network, but it is NOT worth it. The place seems like it's gonna be a good hole in the wall establishment, but after getting our food I was truly disappointed. Here's what we had: -Bulgogi Taco: 7/10 - The bulgogi didn't taste much like authentic bulgogi but the flavor of the meat was still pretty good. The flour tortilla worked with this one, but the lettuce on top tasted like it came from subway. -Grilled Chicken Dak-Gogi Taco: 3/10 - Really not a pleasant taco. There was nothing more to it than some flavorless grilled chicken and the wilted lettuce. The chicken was also room temperature. -Carne Asada Taco: 6/10 - I think this was on their limited time menu but it was carne asada topped with a blue cheese sauce and a battered, fried tomato. My first bite was not good, since the meat itself was pretty dry and lacking in flavor, but what brought it back up was the blue cheese sauce. I LOVED the blue cheese aioli, as it added the moisture and the deep, intense flavor that I was looking for. The tempura tomato was confusing; I adore tomatoes, but the batter was a little thick and it was weird to just have one oddly sized tomato on top of my taco. Interesting concept, odd execution, not a bad result. -Sesame Fries: 8/10 - I was expecting more because of the reviews but they were good! This is the one dish I would say didn't leave me wanting more. The fries are crispy, hot, and topped with a sesame, sweet, umami, and salty (yes it's complex) seasoning that really packs a unique taste. They also come with a sweet ketchup, though they don't even need it. Good fries, but wouldn't come back again even just for those. -Pork Dumplings: 0/10 - I literally couldn't even put these in my mouth. Those at my table that had them said they had a horrific aftertaste, and were even described as tasting of spoiled meat. The dumplings are fried (always unnecessary in my opinion) but the problem was the filling. After opening one I saw the inside was just a chunk of red looking meat with nearly nothing else. We asked the chef and he said the pork was salt cured, but either way, these just missed the mark entirely. Overall, pretty darn disappointing. I went with someone who said they used to LOVE this place, but after our visit she quickly changed her mind. Maybe it was better before? Not sure. read more

I feel really torn on my rating...honestly the food was just okay for me, but the service was really great and I love the concept and can't help but wonder if I ordered the wrong thing...ugh. Wish half stars were a thing. Carried out from here coming into town on Friday night. Saw a ton of positive press so was super excited to try it out. It's sort of tucked away, and the parking lot has seen better days, but I didn't have any trouble finding a spot. They weren't super busy at 8 on a Friday, which was a relief. You order at the counter, at the end farthest away from the door. I decided on a quesadilla with added Korean bbq chicken "dak gogi." I also got a half order of the sesame fries with chipotle ketchup. The service was great! Dude taking my order was incredibly polite and extra careful in getting my order right. He forgot to give me my drink cup and when I went to grab one on my way out, one of his coworkers playfully told me I hadn't paid for it. It was obvious he was kidding and we had some fun banter. My food came out faster than I thought it would so that was good too! As for the actual food, I dunno. It was fine. The quesadilla was nice and crispy. Lots of gooey cheese. The chicken was good - tender and not dry at all - but it wasn't distributed evenly at all and so my first half of the quesadilla was super light on chicken (to the point I felt slighted for the upcharge) and then the second half was full to bursting, and I didn't get to enjoy it fully because I was already pretty full. I'll also say that I enjoyed the flavor of the kimchi in the quesadilla, but it made it very soggy very fast, and it was falling apart in my hands super quickly. Some pieces of kimchi were also cut a little too large to eat comfortably. And then the fries. I was super excited to try these but wound up having mixed feelings. I thought the sesame oil gave them a little too much of a sweet taste. The chipotle ketchup was awesome though, and dipping them in that mostly redeemed them. I need that ketchup on everything! In the end, I had a just okay experience in terms of food. I'd go back and try something else, but I don't think I'd get what I ordered again. read more

One of my favs in the area for a workday lunch. I always get the taco combo, shrimp&chicken and a side of fries. The tacos are good, but I loooovveee the fries and the spicy ketchup that they serve with them. It's a small, hole in the wall kind of place, and the parking lot isn't huge and fills up pretty quickly during the lunch rush but I have never had any issues. Service is always fast and friendly! read more

Would not recommend. First off its dirty af in here. Grime on the floors walls and tables. Seats falling apart , definitely gives don't be in there when the lights go out. Finally made it out to Hankook Taqueria! It's definitely a bit off the beaten path and has free parking but not too many spots. Definitely a grungy looking place on the outside but stick with it! The menu here has a ton of protein options. The blackboard specials were recommended to me so I got the carne asada taco special and one beef bulgogi taco as a combo. The fries are chef's kiss and so good especially with the mildly spicy ketchup. Delish! Both tacos had so much protein and was nice - however, the carne asada taco left so much to be desired flavor and protein texture wise. It needed more oomph. I love blue cheese and all, but the fried tomato and dressing were a miss. The dressing was super thin and ran out the taco. However, the beef bulgogi was immaculate and couldn't be made better. Definitely redeeming. Coming back, I would try a different protein. My boyfriend got the beef bulgogi burrito and the rice here really hits. The rice to anything else ratio in the burrito is definitely off, but with the rice being as yummy as it is no complaints here! I most definitely will try the bowl here at some point. With the prices and flavor here, I was baffled paying for 2 people and having dinner be under $25 before tip? Definitely will be back and try other items on the menu! read more
Haven't been here in a few years and still like it very much. Got in line and started reading the menu and the specials. We normally order tacos and sometimes the Mandoo but this time we orders one bulgogi taco, and an order of pork Mandoo, and the special of the day which was a Korean fried chicken sandwich. We got our number and sat and waiting a few minutes for our warm food to arrive. Oh my goodness, the size of that Korean Chicken Sandwich arrived and it was unbelievable. I don't know how anyone would get there mouth around it so out comes the knife and fork. Glad that we ordered the sauce on the side so we could cut our chicken and dunk into that wonderful sauce. Perfect little spice. The special came with fries that were so so. Not much to write about. Just not a fan of those coated frozen fries. If you are going to serve frozen fries out of a bag there are much better ones out there. We waiting a few minutes before diving into the Mandoo as we knew how hot they would be when opened up. They were delicious. The tastes were great accompanied by a sauce that really did well enhancing the taste of both. And of course the Bulgogi taco, my overall favorite menu item in this place was great. The meat is not much to look at but the seasoning is amazing and the sesame soy dressing on the lettuce in the taco make me what just the taco bowl the next visit. Service was great. Food served quickly. The place was packed for a 1:30PM lunch and people just kept coming. Highly recommend and will definitely return. read more
My son tells me that Triple D (Diners , Drive ins, and Dives) will cover a location in Savannah that we are familiar with. Well after that location in Pooler, up came this one in Atlanta which looked incredible. The very next day I grabbed them and went to that area of westside near Smyrna northwest Buckhead. Anyways it was a rather deceiving building (isn't that the best!!!) and lo & behold awesome food to experiment. This is more of another Mexican/Korean Fusion but better than a lot of those already out there. I had the bulgogi beef which as incredibly tasty and vibrant of color and flavors. My son had the Nashville Korean hot chicken Sammy, which was good but needed more heat and maybe a smash of Kimchi to round out the Korean element, My sons GF had the sweet heat chicken tender taco which was a nice sweet Korean glaze and served in a taco. They both had fries but the kicker was the chipotle ketchup which was to die for.. I was loving that. Despite some people complaints about surcharges. The credit card charges is something that will be a mainstay however I do not support being forced to tip where service is part of the cashiers job. On this day the computer did not indicate that there will be an automatic deduction for tips of 10%. read more
This place is a hidden gem!! Some friends suggested Hankook's for lunch so I swung by here with the family. Small little hole in the wall restaurant with counter service. The gentleman who was taking our orders was more than helpful when I asked for recommendations and the most popular items were on the menu Looking on the wall while waiting for the food, I noticed a recognizable spray paint signature of Guy Fieri from Diners Drive-ins and Dives. This place has got to be good to be featured on there! The food was such a great blend of flavors. Even my toddler had her first bite of Kim chi rice here! So so tasty! read more
