My son and I took the 4 hour gun safety class. It was extremely informative and entertaining.

We took the CCW class taught by instructor Josh Slater. What an amazingly accomplished man and instructor! There wasn't a scenario or question he didn't address. The class was the most informative and impactful of any class we've taken, hands down. Josh instructs you on every aspect needed for CCW and then some; real life consequences of carrying and the law. You will be instructed on the laws, but he will drive it into you to know the laws for yourself. We really appreciated the truth and instruction we received in this course by Josh Slater. Every time I go to this range I'm always greeted with a smile. Witch is an important part of feeling welcome in a range because it helps give you feel more comfortable and confident in your shooting. Pablo is always friendly and willing to help anytime and gives great advice. As well as everyone in the range. This range feels like a second home to me and I will always love to go here and shoot even if it's just to site it in real quick. They always make you feel welcome not matter what. read more

Nice people clean location and easy to get in and setup. It was my first time here since they have opened. Nice to have a local place to go to when one can't shoot outside due to seasonal restrictions in fire country. I will be back. The membership seems to be a good value if you come and shoot often. Very nice and friendly staff! It looks small from the outside BUT good size when you check inside. My friends & I were first greated by the friendly staff. They have very easy to follow and understand instructions/regulations prior to going to the range. The range is very well maintained and regulated. We couldn't be anymore satisfied! We went to rent a .38 for me and every one was very helpful. They have a fair selection of guns to rent and a good selection of targets. I'm going back next week to try some other calibers. read more

I've been going to indoor ranges for over 40 years and Hangtown is the best indoor range I've been to. This range is clean, well organized and follows very solid safety protocols. Front of store is very clean and the store team is very friendly and helpful. I was there with my adult son and they took very good care of us. We had Jake as our range safety officer and he was friendly, attentive and very helpful during our range time. The lanes are spaced well and have well designed dividers. They have strict range protocols related to the handling of firearms to ensure a safe experience for everyone. I've never seen cleaner shooting lanes than they have there. There isn't empty brass all over the floor and the lanes are well lit. Target mechanisms worked flawlessly and they have an assortment of targets to choose from. I will be returning on a regular basis after enjoying the positive experience we had today. read more

I took my CCW renewal class here. The range is very clean and safe. The range & front staff were pleasant. The CCW instructor, Josh was very professional, clear in purpose, patient, practical and yet down-to-earth/understandable. The CCW renewal course itself was full or practical information. The other CCW students were also pleasant. I will be coming back here to take more courses and shoot more often. Not a mark down at all but maybe we can turn up the room temperature just a bit higher next time? I was cold it the last part of the lecture. read more

I took the County required 4 hour CCW Renewal course at Hangtown Range yesterday. Renewal now requires that you also demonstrate your ability to shoot safely and accurately. This facility not only has an on site indoor range but a very comfortable classroom. The instructor, Josh Slater, was very knowledgeable and personable and provided useful information. I have taken this course from others in the past and the 4 hours seemed like a torture, Josh made the time fly. I would recommend it to anyone. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. They also provide a number of other useful courses as well as new shooter instruction. read more

I was very impressed! As a long time gun owner, I have visited range facilities of all types - indoor, outdoor, large, small, nice, and not so nice. Two things make a public range: staff, and facility. Hangtown has both and more. The staff is friendly, inviting, and knowledgeable. Josh has a depth of firearms background and the ability to impart it in a friendly, clear, and concise way. The facility is located just up Broadway from downtown Placerville. This makes Hangtown very accessible for El Dorado County residents and even folks from Sacramento - it's just a short drive. The range lanes are clean, modern, and easy to use. $20 for a lane, and you can even share with a friend. Hangtown has handgun rentals and ammo sales (very competitive prices) so if you're shopping for a new pistol, try it out here first. There is also a live fire situation simulator (but I have not tried it...yet). All in all, the Hangtown Range is impressive and a welcome sight in our gun loving community. read more

Enjoyed one-on-one private instruction from manager Josh Slater yesterday and couldn't have been more impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness. He gave me superb coaching and spot-on feedback in an entirely positive, supportive manner. He's incredible. In addition, the facility itself is impeccably clean and as technologically advanced as a range can get. Shooting Range Industries installed a truly fantastic indoor range there. Despite a nearly 2 hour commute for me each way, I fully intend to be back for additional training and for range time! read more

If you reload, DO NOT GO TO THIS RANGE, My active duty US Marine Corps son was home for Thanksgiving, he wanted to go shooting. He choose to go here. He was not allowed to retrieve our Lake City brass, This range says its a safety issue its not, they are making money and a lot of it on our brass, that was 80$ worth of brass they kept. Other ranges let us pick up our brass, We will not be going to this range again, we will drive the hour to Sacramento Gun range or SacValley gun range. read more
