I showed up to his Pistol 1 class without haven taken a single shot in my life and he had me knocking down metal targets with a 40 S&W by end of class! I drove -1hr to take his class. In researching firearm instructors and talking to friends, most instructors are knowledgeable but teaching styles vary. I was looking for someone without the drill instructor vibe or hearing their political views during class. Martin was that perfect combination of teaching style that can adjust to the circumstance/class. You'll feel very comfortable while he also ensures you keep safe and continue to improve. I never thought I would need a gun. I live in a secluded neighborhood, in a safe town, with good police to community ratio. Given the present times, I felt the need to protect my family in the rare probability that I will never have to use the gun for my family's safety. Having never fired the gun, the instructor, Martin, was very patient and answered all my questions to help me feel comfortable. In fact most of the class was about gun safety and handling even before firing a single round. AIM Firearms was easy to get a hold of with availability to fit my schedule. There were group and private rates available with reasonable pricing that included the use of a private range, gun rental, headphone rental, and ammunition to last he whole training session. Knowing nothing about how a gun feels in my hand, I was thankful that Martin provided the use of a few different guns to find what suits my preference and size the best. Martin's instructions were focused on learning and making safety a habit. After learning the pieces of the gun and loading the bullets, we shot several rounds to the mound of dirt to become use to the proper stance, grip, sound, and feeling. We then moved to target practice and ending with hitting a metal target. I would highly recommend Martin especially for first timers. My husband and I took the Pistol I class today and it was great! There was 7 students and 2 instructors (Martin and Tony). We started out with a lecture on handgun safety and worked our way to firing. Each step of the way the instructors answered questions and even tailored responses to our individual needs. Context: I took a 4-hour private lesson for red dot fundamentals. I have taken CQB for handgun, Defensive handgun, low level light handgun, home defense, dozen's of hours of one to one private lessons with local instructors and a FBI SWAT team leader.s I traveled 3 hours from out of town to work with Martin Mapa. This was my first red dot class. Pros: -Amazing! Amazing! Amazing instruction!!! -Humble and amiable person who uses every minute to help you understand and improve your firearm skills. -Helped make my draw stroke significantly shorter while elevating my accuracy. -Able to break things down to my level and not talk over my head. -Overwhelmingly convinced me of the value of red dot optic sights and the need to transition to this system. -Created scenarios for me toward the end to help simulate active shooter situation. -Outdoor range, so little to no concerns about covid for me. This review is for the level 1 handgun fundamentals course of 1/30/2021. The review is copied from what I wrote on Google as well as a business review. First and foremost, Martin is a great gentleman, you will get positive vibes the moment he greets you and welcomes you into his course. He does not present his course as the only way to handle a firearm, but just "a way" that has worked successfully for him and his students. The experience really reminded me of my judo sensei, and the range felt like the dojo (training space) minus the kneel/bow and the uniform The instructions are simple to follow, as Martin breaks things down to the basic fundamentals. If you leave the range with those basics in your head, it will be sufficient to keep you safe whenever you use a firearm. Martin also simplifies firearm handling when it comes to picking up your firearm, getting into your stance, aiming and firing. All of us attending the class were newbies, and felt like sharp shooters by the end of the class! Martin also picks great helpers to aid on the range. My firearm malfunctioned midway in class (grrr!) and Joe kindly jumped in and took the gun down and lubricated and oiled it up.
