My sister's closet shelves collapsed the night before they were heading out of town for a week. Its a large walk-in and the shelf that fell was 12' long. There was damage to the wall as well. I didn't want them to come back home to the mess of an unusable closet so I searched for a contractor service to help. I'm visiting from out of town so I asked her neighbors and friends for recommendations at first, but none of them had any. When it comes to contractors I reeeeeeaaaally prefer a referral/word-of-mouth because we've had some shady experiences. After checking through a ton of Yelper reviews, I decided to call Handy Hero. Mr. Hiro answered right away and listened to my plea for help as now I was short on time before they were due to return back home. He gave me a number to send pictures to and was highly responsive. He was able to schedule me for next day service with one of his contractors!!! The contractor, Sabrina, contacted me that same day and confirmed the job and arrival time for the following day. We have elderly parents in the home, one on hospice care, so I asked if she would mind a mask, which we provided. She was very understanding and polite, even spoke to our parents when she came into my sister's house. Before arriving, she texted me to let me know she was on her way to Home Depot to get a few supplies she needed for the job and again provided her ETA for arrival. She got started right away and was completely finished well before the estimated time!!! She walked me through everything that she did and gave "after-care" instructions as far as how long to wait for everything to dry on the wall areas that were repaired. She took the time to go over the invoice pricing line-by-line, re-explaining the charges (they went over how they service charges and percents with me the previous day). She also gave me a color sample from the wall that we can take to get color match ( I had no clue where my sister keeps their paint or if they even had any). They did offer to paint the wall but I told them that was something my sister go take care of later at her convenience. The only surprise was how honest the pricing/paying process was and how quickly she completed the job, since they do charge by the hour. I was expecting that car maintenance check-out experience where they give you one price before the work but pay-out is a barrage of added fees oh because blah-blah and blah-blah. Nope, everything was straightforward to the point that I asked her if she was sure this was all...imagine that!!! I highly recommend this company for your contracting needs!!! Due to how responsive Mr. Hiro was, I feel confident that if I didn't have a great experience, he would have taken care of the issue, but thankfully I didn't need to test that theory! Handy Hero responded quickly to me call Concerning a leak in my kitchen. The tech was very thorough in determining the source of the leak. He checked the pipes and behind the dishwasher. Determining that the water was coming from outside, he checked the gutters, windows, siding and my drainage system. He made modifications to the latter. He asked me to send pictures and we discussed what the work would entail. He told me he would send a technician out the following week. Eric came today. He replaced the dryer vent. Discovered that the gutter was fine but the area needed a new drip edge and then fixed it. And fixed the cabinet door including staining to make it look better than new. First of all on the initial visit we had to contact the owner serveral times to confirm the guy was even coming. He was extremely late. When he arrived he acted as though he wanted to start the job. Two days later I had not received a call so I called again. The person who answered said someone would call me back. One week later I called again and left a message. I received a text message stating that someone could come by in a few days. Well, thanks but no thanks. I found a company that is responsive and actually wants my business. read more

We moved into our new condo in Cumming, Ga on 4/1/21. There were several things about the condo that we wanted to change/add, so I called Handy Hero Inc of Forsyth County Ga because they were so highly rated. The young man who came was pleasant enough, but as it turned out he was not very proficient at electrical work. I had 5 ceiling fans w lights & remotes that I wanted to have hung in. By the time he got finished, there were fans in the rooms, but 4 of the 12 wall switches had been disconnected. There were 3 others that when turned on, the fans in the kitchen & living room would stop working. In addition, he installed a fan in the kitchen but wired the power source from the living room fan. To do it, he cut a 3 ft x 3 ft hole in the ceiling. Much bigger than was needed to install a 4" x 4" box. Repairing that hole cost $650 because I had to hire a painter to come in a completely redo the kitchen ceiling. Today, I had to hire an electrician to finally fix the fan & lighting, in the kitchen. When he arrived & looked at what work had been done, he was mystified. He said there were lots of shortcuts taken (screws not all the way in, a box put inside the ceiling that only contained the remote for the fan which should have gone in the space provided in the fan, unhooked wires in the switch boxes.) While the Handy Hero person did a wonderful job on the install of 2 wall mounted TV's, some shelves, and a row of cabinets in the garage, the electrical part was terrible. I was billed $3,900 by Handy Hero for the electrical work (assembly of 5 fans, hanging and wiring 5 fans, & the wiring changes to connect the fans. Then, as noted above, I had to pay someone $650 to fix the 3 ft. x 3 ft. hole made in the middle of the kitchen ceiling, & then to re-paint the kitchen ceiling. In addition, I paid $683 today to fix the electrical work on the fans. So the $3,900 job turned into a $5,230 job. I would NOT recommend Handy Hero for any electrical wiring or installs. read more

The owner got us scheduled within just 2 days , and he was an excellent communicator. He was also very knowledgeable about how to do a correct install, we were very comfortable giving our job to Handy Hero and we are usually highly skeptical for a good reason, there are lots of bad companies out there. Dennis did our install, he promptly let us know when to expect him, which was so helpful. And what a personable and professional man Dennis our installer is. Dennis did a very good job, neat and done correctly, and had to do a lot of heavy lifting, he is really quite amazing. Very friendly and a true joy to work with.
