More debris left.

I would start with zero stars if I could. Matt is the consummate snake oil salesman. He talks a huge game but delivers nothing. We overpaid for his services based on his review, only to find out from his subcontractors that he goes back after the fact on past jobs to give "freebies and add-ones" in order to satisfy poor reviews and get his vaunted "perfect 5-star review". To top it off, he makes his subs pay for the add-one out of their overhead! I should have gone with my gut the first time we met, or when he surprised us with the fact that we would have to do a permit as an owner/builder since he doesn't actually have a full general contractor's license. He has to use his dad's license number, but doesn't because his own dad charges him 5% to use it. His team destroyed our yard and only cleaned up after repeated requests to fix things. My garden and irrigation system heads remain buried. Contractual requirements remain unfulfilled, despite the fact that we have paid him over half of the "max budget". I'm attaching some pictures of his fine work, including the new hole in our exterior ceiling where his employee stepped through the floor and didn't repair it. Stay far away from this guy. His subs were decent, but Matt is out of his depth as a contractor. Don't make the same mistake we did. Over budget, not in schedule, and left to hold the bag in a mess to have to hire somebody else to come fix. Please, please, heed my warnings. Both my wife and I are vets and generally trust people and take them in their word. Don't make our mistake and trust Matt Azouz and Handy Hawaii.

Front porch after, notice attention to detail! This thing is more solid than my house.

* Fast response; very easy to set up meeting for estimate and was able to get the ball rolling pretty soon after. * Very professional, friendly, extremely knowledgeable beyond handy work/construction and makes sure we are both on the same page about everything (even if it takes a little extra time.) * Price seems comparable, definitely more than you'd pay an average Joe, but less than or the same as similar legitimate companies. * Does offer discounts for future work (this may just be for full remodeling) Details: I can't function in life without checking Yelp first. Sometimes I wonder how I ever got by before checking to make sure people on the internet approve. Just kidding, sort of. But really, any time I decide to do something I always put a lot of research into it and will often make a permanent decision to utilize a service/company before meeting with them and I won't bother shopping around beyond my computer screen. This may seem foolhardy, but I have hardly been let down this way, and truthfully my lifestyle (stay-at-home mom w/two evil kids under 4 years...okay, not evil, they just don't like me) needs me to make hard decisions as soon as I can or I head down the road of procrastination...kids always come first. I do also research beyond reviews on Yelp so I have an idea of how much I expect to spend and what I can expect from the overall process, so stop judging. Anyway, Matt got back to me almost immediately after requesting an estimate and we were able to work out a meeting very easily about a week out, though I believe we could have met sooner, I needed to do it when I'd have someone to help with my kids or I can't understand what anyone is saying to me and usually forget entire conversations beyond, "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mammamamamamamamamommymommymommy!" "What?" "Hello." Finally met with him and found him to be an extremely professional and friendly guy. Zero awkwardness and felt more like dealing with a cousin or brother. I'd like to point out that my youngest son (1.5yr) is not Mr. Aloha like his older brother....he hates strangers. He generally cries if new people try to hold him, sometimes just talking to him gets him going...he was totally attached to Matt. Even gave him a hug and kiss when he left. I'd like to think of babies sort of like dogs and cats, you know, they tend to have a sixth sense of who can be trusted and who's gonna poke them in the eye or take their food. Matt spent a lot of time with me discussing not only the initial problem I needed fixed (front porch was falling apart), but I explained we planned on remodeling the entire home, and building up/expanding half of it, and during the interim I need other odd jobs taken care of, so we discussed just about everything and he came up with a plan based on my overall needs. Basically while they're doing the small stuff, they will just do what's necessary for us to live normally until we can get the remodel started -- not setting me up to spend thousands on something he'll be tearing down in a year. Only reason we can't get the remodel started right now is we still need to buy the house. It's one of those "grandpa left it to four kids with various stipulations" kinda deals. There's another thing Matt knows about...he's also a realtor and was able to help me figure out how we go about getting the ball rolling on that stuff. I seriously have no clue, and our situation is slightly more complicated since we already own two other houses but have to live in this one. He doesn't push anything on me; he will let me know his opinion if it's different than mine, with an explanation why my choice might not be what he'd do, but ultimately (no arm pulling) will go with whatever I'm comfortable with. I appreciate getting a professional's opinion (I've worked with other people before and have had them just do exactly what I told them to which didn't work out very well because I don't always have a full understanding of the way things need to be done, or I've had them flat out refuse to do something unless I go with exactly what they want.) So they've just completed the first job which was tearing down our old porch (some termite damage and a brick wall that was probably being held up by ants and their homes), and rebuilding/expanding it. I was able to show Matt some pictures of what I liked and my porch looks better than I imagined. His team, Tim & Kawika are super friendly and professional as well, and they also passed the test with my kids. They're coming back today to start on putting in a window a/c, then on to bigger projects. I'd write more but apparently I've (for the first time) hit Yelp's limit. I'll be writing reviews for every project and posting pictures, don't fret. Mahalo Matt, Tim & Kawika!

From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, everything was seamless. William managed this project very well and guided us through this process with ease. At any point if we had questions he was quick to respond. The showroom they have is great and the experience of setting your preferences on design and materials is quite enjoyable. The only hiccup we encountered is that the supplier of the original tile that had been selected did not come in the size we needed and so it wouldn't have meshed well with the current tile in the living room. William helped us find a suitable alternative and we were able to pivot and are very pleased with the outcome. There were a couple of adjustments during the project but again related to the tile, we changed the direction of the placement which allows for us to replace the remaining tile in the house in the future if we decided to do so. William and team thinking ahead with our needs in mind really provided a sense of care. To top it all off, we wanted this build done ASAP and the team was able to complete the remodel in 8 days compared to their estimate of 10 - 14. We are extremely pleased with the work and so glad we went with a business right here in Kaneohe. Thank you William, Wen, and team! Some details on the kitchen itself for those curious. - L Shaped - Soft Close Cabinets - Spice Rack left of the Range - Microwave with vent above Range - Backsplash - Recessed Lights - Pendent Lights - Island with three sides of overhang for full dining

Don't think twice, book with MY Construction, couldn't be happier with the renovation they did on…read moremy condo!! My renovation consisted of a full kitchen & bathroom remodel, with tub to shower conversion. I contacted a few companies and received various quotes, some of which required me to travel to various showrooms to select materials which as a first time home renovator, seemed overwhelming. However, when I was contacted by William, he informed me he had previously done renovations in my building and was very familiar with how the management office worked, water shut off, elevator reservations, etc. MY Construction's showroom had all materials/samples in one place where I could put everything together and get a visual idea; he also had tons of photos of examples on his phone to show me. Can't say enough amazing things about William and his crew, not only did he keep me updated daily, but he also handled so many of the nuance tasks on his own, making sure I wasn't distracted at work or taking on any unnecessary stress during the project. (He even dealt with a cranky tenant who had been accidentally double booked by management for the elevator as well as installing all of the new appliances!) The communication couldn't have been better. On to the finished reno; it's truly everything I wanted and more! I am currently renting the apartment to a friend and he's had no issues with any leaks, appliance function, and he's also commented how stunning the renovation turned out! If you're thinking of a new home renovation, big or small, look no further, these guys will give you an incredible result while simultaneously keeping the project stress-free!!

FIVE STAR rating to Jeff, Keith and the crew at Hawaii Home Remodel!…read more I contacted HHR at the end of December to receive an estimate. Instantly, I heard back from Keith to schedule a home visit. In the first week of January, Keith came by to do a look through. He was very kind and professional. Keith emailed my estimate within several days. Our bathroom remodel was scheduled to take 14 days, but it was completed within 9 days, which was good for our family considering we only have one bathroom. From initial contact throughout the project Jeff, HHR Supervisor, kept open communication with me every day. He kept me afloat on what they found, what needed to be done, what my options were. Jeff and his team were very detailed and the level of work they did was beyond superb. I'd like to send my all my aloha and much mahalo to Keith, Jeff and their Hawaii Home Remodel crew for their expertise and hard work over the past 9 days. You brought our outdated bathroom up to 2026. My COASTAL MODERN bathroom dreams have come true! P.S. so, when's our next project??!?! : ) HIGHLY RECOMMEND Liz Martin & Family

However since that visit, the experience has been disappointing. Despite multiple follow up messages and calls, we have not received the promised quote or ANY response at all. While I understand contractors may be busy, a simple update or message stating they couldn't take the job would be preferred over being ghosted. I was hoping to work with a licensed professional, but the lack of basic communication makes it difficult to recommend their services. I hope they can improve their follow up process for future customers.

He lied about the progress of the work and asked for payment without completing the work under the agreement within the timeframe promised. Weeks and months have gone by and the work was still incomplete. Basically, this was a breach of contract and he failed to perform the agreed-upon work as outlined in the contract. For months, he was unresponsive despite multiple attempts to communicate to either finish the work or refund the payments made. After 5 months, he finally responded stating that he'll set up a repayment schedule to return the funds due to the breach of contract. Another 4 months have gone by and he has yet to repay any of the advance payments made. During those 4 months, multiple demands were made for the refund of payments made. He has been unresponsive. To date, 9 months later, he has failed to return the payments made. No effort at all to even set up a repayment schedule. His conduct has been unprofessional, unreliable, and has caused significant financial and personal inconvenience. I trusted him and paid him in advance when he asked for more money stating that he needed more funds to cover the rental equipment and pay his people. Never again with Maka. I plan to file a formal complaint with the appropriate licensing board and the BBB.

TLDR: These people are FANTASTIC at what they do, and trust them to get the work done…read more My family and I have been thinking of a kitchen renovation for several years but were hesitant due to the scale and potential cost of a project like this. Beyond Builders and their staff were communicative and understanding from start to finish! In our initial meetings with Josh and Tomoko, they carefully listened to our desired outcomes and focused on staying within a set budget we were comfortable with (cuz economy's tough y'know?). Once the contract was signed, 3D designs were promptly drafted which gave us several options to choose from, they guided us through obtaining required items for the material list, and once everything was ready a start date was set. They were very patient with us, we never felt rushed, and our desired outcomes were always prioritized. Junior and Ming were the leads on the renovation portion, and MAN do they work efficiently! They said it would take two weeks, and they finished in two weeks. One thing I appreciate about their crew was the communication on progress and collaborative questions. For example, before installing handles on the cabinets they would ask beforehand how we'd like them placed. They always made sure it was being made the way we wanted. At the end of the renovation, the kitchen felt like something out of a movie set. As you can tell in the attached pictures, the before pictures (green, walled) and after pictures (open, white countertop) is night and day. They were doing such a good job that I had to request a change order to install a new vanity in our bathroom to replace the old one haha. All in all, Beyond Builders was a pleasure to work with. Our family is so happy with the renovation and we already plan to hit them up for future projects (when we have the funds). Big shout out to Josh, Tomoko, Junior, Ming and their crew!
