They made it known that they were there to help service their customers right away. I explained to the employee (Ricky) that's the name on the receipt my current situation about what was happening with my mom's dog Carter. I was thinking it could have been allergies. He told me what products he would use and suggested what he has used on his animals in the past. He listened to my concerns and gave me options right away. Even the lady at the counter gave her suggestions on what could have caused the coughing. I genuinely loved how they were concerned as if it was their animal as well. I was really stressed about what to do with them but could not just have them out there so I took them in. The next day I went to this Petco location and was warmly greeted by a gentleman who happened to be the general manager of this store. He not only helped me pick out exactly what I needed, he directed me to the best food for the mom that was still affordable and he gave me advice on what to do to care for them and more. He helped me find a collar that was on clearance for the mom cat... he didn't just try to make money off of me, he genuinely cared to help me! I have been back to this store a few times since then and he is always so kind, supportive and helpful! Neely was a warm ray of light and the blessing I needed in a stressful situation that I felt lost in. The bald woman with glasses in the fish department immediately started aggressively quizzing/questioning us about betta fish care. We understand that pet owners should be educated and go to good homes but there's a huge difference between being helpful and making customers feel like they're being interrogated. At one point I finally had to tell her, "We're not crazy fish experts we're just looking for a pet." She kept throwing out facts and asking questions, and because I didn't know something like "their stomach is the size of their eyeball," she became even more confrontational. We weren't refusing to care for the fish we simply just didn't know every single "fun fact" that she kept firing off becoming increasingly confrontational. The most upsetting part was that our kids were standing there watching the whole interaction. We were trying to create a happy memory of them getting their first pet, and instead the experience became uncomfortable and stressful from beginning to end. Unfortunately, it didn't even end there because after we left the fish area, she continued hounding us while we were checking out, despite not even being the cashier helping us. By the time we were done, the register was out of receipt paper, but honestly we didn't even care enough to wait for one because we just wanted to get the F out of the store (we won't be returning anyway). We were worried our kids were going to leave upset because of how hostile the interaction had become, thankfully though our kids are thrilled with their new fish and that's what matters most. I just hope management addresses the way this employee interacts with customers. If this is how she treats everyone, she'd probably be better suited for a position that doesn't involve customer interaction because what she was doing was WAY too much and very intense especially for small children. We absolutely support educating new pet owners, but customer service should be respectful and encouraging, not intimidating.

Being a dragon mama, I was a bit shocked to see the young hatchling dragons, never seen them so young in a store. Wanted to take them both home! However we have 3 currently and just got a new baby we rescued from a bad PetSmart situation Store is clean and well organized. We also got our crested gecko here. Wasn't a planned purchase but I'd been researching them and prepping a starter terrarium for a future baby gecko. Then I saw her and "Megan" was 75% off. Was so worried someone would buy her and not care for her properly. I was hesitant to ask about her seeing another review about someone being denied a Crested gecko purchase by the manager I think. This person supposedly had a nice set up and all supplies and was denied(a bday gift post). Due to me literally just setting up a terrarium I was nervous to ask about her. I had a photo on my phone I sent a friend showing her what I was doing. It literally only had a tiny piece of hide and some moss in it. Anyway, I approached 3 months employees and asked about her age to start testing waters. I was told she was a year or less basically. Sounded like they she had been with them all that time. I was even more nervous at that point. We decided we wanted her, the employee(sorry I didn't catch your name) asked something about if I was prepared. I showed her picture and told her I was just setting up for a future purchase and been doing a ton of research. She said she would hold her if I wanted to get a more solid set up. I checked their reptile supplies, and asked if I bought a large piece of wood hide, hanging vines and food.. if that would be okay with my current terrarium that's just a starter and obvious dubia supply with more on the way? She said that would be good(So happy the review I mentioned wasn't my experience). It took them quite a while to get her into container to leave..however I didn't mind as they were trying hard not to stress her out and that's so important with Cresties. I didn't want her dropping tail or being too upset. Anyway, you guys at PSP will be happy to know "Megan" who is now "Nyx" has a massive 24x18x36 vertical terrarium, highest rated brand I could get my hands on. It's also bioactive with a variety of isopods, tons of vines, clutter and hiding, organic mixed substrate, moisture balls, mesh layer, Appropriate lighting for her and plants(only gecko safe). She has "fired down" and is eating CGD and offered calcium dusted dubias for hunting. I haven't handled her outside of moving her out of container. I speak to her softly and her lights are on appropriate schedule, as well as misting(appropriate water with reptile water conditioner) and drying out schedule daily. I'm waiting 2 weeks before handling, and moving her to upgraded terrarium(also giving isopods a chance to thrive before). I'm rambling but she's safe and will be spoiled rotten(appropriately). Thank you for trusting us to adopt her. I understand being cautious and it's so appreciated! Too many people buy pets they don't know enough about or can care for appropriately. PLEASE DO RESEARCH, especially with reptiles! If someone can contact me about any other info/details you have about Megan/Nyx, I would appreciate it so much!
