Always great customer service, cool people, great value on service, and plenty of wisdom. I'm a novice to put it lightly, and everyone at the ship has been helpful. Specifically Yoshi, Richard, and Russell were all awesome and helpful. Russell even showed me how to use my car rack correctly. They'll text you to have you confirm before they begin servicing your bike. And you'll get a text when it's ready. Recently they told me it might take 10 days because they were so backed up but I had my bike back and ready in less than a week! I'll be coming here as long as I live in the area. They were honest with me and were able to fix the bike for way less than a new one would cost. Of course my son left there with a wish list for Christmas but now his bike is working even better than new! Very bad customer service. As soon as the salesperson gauged that I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend, the whole situation changed. He particularly and personally was a range of emotions brought into my business. Including hugging me during the pandemic. I left 2 bicycles there. One for new parts, a mtb in which I spent 300$ aprox in service and parts and a TT bike for a checkup. The explanation for the TT was shady and badly reported. He was pissed because I didn't have the money to change my whole front fork and that they spent too much time on the bike. I could never reach the actual person that checked it. Same with the mtb. I was a happy customer in the end, just because my mtb is in better shape and during covid. He also told me, which is true, I have to get both front and back new suspension for about 1300$ (which I did for 800$) I actually tried calling a couple of times again recently to no avail, so yea... maybe it's me that Im a "bad customer " read more

Cycled all my life and was attracted to Handlebar based on them being an authorized dealer for many high end brands. Found none of the high end bikes, no Certified, no Campagnolo, no ________. If this was not disappointing enough, read the reviews for service and found some issues to be chronic and it appears the ownership does not stand behind their work. The techs know a lot about some things, dang little about the esoteric brands offered. read more

HC is a boutique bike shop near Fulshear run by folks who love cycling. Don't go here expecting to find great deals on tires and tubes. Do go expecting to find unique items and some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable bike techs. Ask for Richard or Jay. HC was started by a few folks who used to work at a large bike shop in Katy. HC leads free rides throughout the week starting from their shop. Rides are posted on the HC website and Strava. When you walk in, expect to be offered a coffee or beer while you shop. On my last visit, I enjoyed a Ziegenbock as I came across a pretty cool cycling case that will hold all of the items I need for my next ride. I have also purchased some comfortable gloves, inexpensive, yet functional sunglasses, and rain gear. I have not purchased a bike at HC, but the shop focuses on Giant bikes. They also have a small fitting studio in the back. read more

I had been searching for a bike that fit my height requirements and had trouble everywhere until I came across Handlebar. From the moment I walked in the door, I was welcomed by the friendliest staff members. They immediately helped me figure out everything from the height and style of bike to the color and basket. I had tried a few other stores and the only options they had for my height were children's bikes. When my bike arrived, they assembled it for me and adjusted everything to my specifications. I was stranded on the side of a trail with a flat tire. Jethro (who I had never met) pulls over, takes out a new tube, replaces the tube and fills it up!!! Refused when I tried to pay him. I've been in twice to fix my chain and get my bike adjusted after a crash. Both times, the staff was super helpful, kind, fun, and patient. They perform wonderful service, do not overcharge AT ALL, do not push unnecessary purchases your way, and spend tons of time answering questions and helping you feel comfortable. I asked a quick question about how to change a tube if I ever got a flat, expecting a brief answer, but the employees went into so much detail and spent so much time giving me a hands on tutorial and practice. I feel like some bike shops' level of service depend on how expensive your bike is or if you know what you're talking about, but not Handlebar Cyclery. You can really feel that they just want to help out, are doing what they love, and get everyone on their bikes! read more

I decided to go to Handlebar Cyclery because of all of the fantastic Yelp reviews - and they did not disappoint. The staff was incredibly friendly. Each member of the staff greeted me and made sure that I was being taken care of. I brought in my bike for a minor repair, but since I didn't purchase my bike from them, I expected to pay for them to fix it. The gentleman who worked on my bike fixed in less than ten minutes - and when I asked how much I owed, he responded with, "just leave us a good review". My point being, this is an extraordinarily customer-centric business. These guys will not try to upsell you or convince you to buy equipment that is outside your level of expertise. This place is fantastic. Ask for Jethro. As everyone knows, it's very hard to find a bike these days anywhere. I had searched everywhere for a month. One day I stopped in on a hunch because I owed my 14 year old daughter a bike for a gift. The salesman there (Jethro) asked what I needed and I told him, but they didn't have anything on the floor. He went out of his way to say "let me see what I can find for you in the system." He found me the PERFECT bike for her. Exact color and everything. The bike is incredible. He was so helpful figuring out fit as well. I couldn't believe we found one. It was the very last one and it was delivered in a day. He built the bike himself and called me for delivery. Then when we picked it up he was incredibly helpful adjusting it on the spot for her, cutting the seat post etc. He was just so nice to my daughter the whole time. He gave us his personal cell and said call any time and he will Facetime us through any problems. He said he even makes house calls some times to help customers. When we left my wife said "it's obvious he loves what he does" which is exactly right. He just loves bikes and loves helping people. The store itself is great too. When I have went to other bike stores I got the impression that the people are paid employees, with their somber tone and their buy or don't buy attitude. At Handlebar Cyclery I get the feeling that every one of these employees enjoy what they do and would probably work for free if they could. Jay and Richard have went out of their way to help me numerous times. Everytime I leave Handlebar I come away with more knowledge than I went in with. My wife and I came here to buy two bikes. However we showed up on a Sunday after they were closed unknowingly. The issue we have is that when the employee saw us coming into the store he quickly ran out of his chair behind the register and locked the door on us. A simple "sorry we're closed" would have been sufficient but instead pretended like we weren't there. Helped me pick a bike out (2019 Giant Escape 3) that is perfect for my needs and fit right in the sweet spot of my budget. He tuned it and adjusted everything and even helped load it into my car.
