Not good. Bad service, pricey options and poor quality food - Han Kang is quintessential underwhelming London style Korean eats. The initial impression isn't too bad. The interior is cozy with COVID-era dividers still up allowing each table to have some break from the noise. Unfortunately when the food arrives you will likely be pretty disappointed. We tried spicy sundubu with tofu and wow was it bland. The pork was very low quality, nearly impossible to chew with using scissors, and bereft of flavor. The bulgolgi was equally underwhelming with little to no taste whatsoever. When we finished our meal we asked for a bag to go and were charged 50p for it - that was a first. Ever. In the world. Han Kang is one of the better Korean places in central London, and so out of all the ones I've been to in central London, we have to give this place five stars. It's more upscale and they grill your meats at your table. And their kimchi Jiggae is more authentic than other places we've been. read more

I neither hated nor loved this place...a solid three stars! Here's what I liked: - the BBQ meat was well-marinated and the sauces that came along with it, complimented the tast very well; - I liked that we could do table-BBQ; - the bibimbap was tasty and sizzling when served; Here's what I somewhat disliked: - everything comes at an extra-charge (they even charge for salad leaves at £3 a basket!) - there's no venting system installed over the tables so you really stink like a fried chicken afterwards; Prices were ok and service was friendly. I always seem to end up in the Japanese izakaya next door, so somehow I never noticed Han Kang before! Silly me! I didn't think this was the best Korean I've had in London, and like Uli B, I did find some of the sides (kimchi/namul and lettuce) a bit pricey... BUT the food was all tasty, and I'd totally come back here if I fancied some Korean bbq. I did order only really standard things: - The kimchi jeon (pancake) was perfectly crispy - although wasn't very full of kimchi. It was still tasty. - The kimchi and namul were both delicious. - The japchae was good. - All the bbq meats (and squid) we tried were LOVELY! Really good marinades and excellent quality, melt in your mouth meat. The dolsot bibimbap was good too (although I've had better in London...) Next time I'd like to try some of the less obvious options. All in all, 5 of us ate a massive meal for £27 each (including drinks and tips) so it was pretty good value for such a meaty, tasty meal. read more

Tucked away on a side street we got a meal at 11 pm craving Korean. Good bibimbap, huge serving of jampong (seafood noodle soup), galbi, fried chicken dumpings. Beers and wine. Nice service. Note, unlike most other Korean spots, this one charges for sides. read more

Been looking for some good Korean food and I think we've found it! For 3 people, we ordered: - Galbi: good flavor and I liked that it was off the bone, but it was also a bit chewy. - Bulgogi: yum! This was my favorite. Good flavor and the onions were yummy as well. - Kimchee Fried Rice: tasty but a bit spicy. Egg wasn't runny, which was fine for me, but just a note. - Cheese Corn: this wasn't on the menu but they have it and it is soooo goooooood. Lol. I want to come back just for cheese corn and Bulgogi. Hahaha. We came right when they opened around 6pm, so we didn't have to wait, but there was a line when we left. read more

While it is my first time eating Korean BBQ in London, I have had it many many times elsewhere. And never have I not been able to cook my own meats. Apparently they are worried I will undertook my food and get sick. Cooking yourself is the best part and having all the meat cooked for you, all at once means it's all cold. Another thing I'm not crazy about is the stove. Not very hot and so meat isn't grilled / BBQ but feels like slowly heated up. This is also the first time that you have to pay for side dishes. Maybe it's a British Korean thing? This place is average and totally acceptable when craving korean BBQ, but I probably won't come back again. read more

Went to a few Chinese and Japanese restaurants but I was somehow left unsatisfied. Then my friend took me to Han Kang. It was every bit of homey comfort food that i was craving for. It's simple ingredient with bold flavors without the ostentatious presentation. Is it the best korean food I've ever had? I have been long telling people that Han Kang is the best Korean restaurant I have been to in London. Unfortunately, last night's experience left a lot to be desired and I won't be returning. The food and service was very hit or miss. The Korean fried chicken was tossed in a delicious spicy sauce but the chunks of chicken didn't even appear battered so lacked that crunchy coating you expect from fried chicken. Our BBQ beef arrived cooked but then we waited for the lettuce to arrive as it cooled on the table. The worst dish and experience we had was the seafood stew. Our burner arrived but we waited a good 20-25 minutes for the stew. We almost cancelled the order and annoyingly, there was no explanation from the waitstaff as to what was going on. Then when it finally did arrive and the waitress turned the burner on, the gas had obviously been on as there was a big explosion as the gas went up in flames. Not great. When they finally got that whole thing sorted, we dug into the stew which was disgusting. The broth had no flavour whatsoever. We really should have sent this back. When the waitress collected the half eaten stew, I mentioned that it was not good and only got blank looks. She obviously didn't care. We ended up removing the service from our bill. The experience overall was subpar. I won't be returning. PS Just found out that two in our party ended up getting food poisoning from our meal! read more

We ordered a hot pot (beef and vegetable), it tasted really good. I don't like it that you have to order rice separately. The food was very good overall. I don't recall having to ever have to order rice at other Korean restaurants separately when I ordered soup. I still don't understand why Korean restaurants in London do not give bancha (side dishes) as complimentary. Korean restaurants usually pride themselves over how many side dishes they serve in the US and Korea. Another point is why don't they give you bigger glass of water or a jug of water on the table? It's a little inconvenient to keep asking for water after you are drenched in sweats from spicy food. Yelp reviews have rarely led me astray but alas tonight was such a disappointment. The service was really odd. They seated us (party of 2) at a table of 6 and then another party of 2 shared the table. When we went to order bbq items they said we couldn't because we were sharing the table. It would have been nice to have been told that before being seated! The waitresses were also yelling at each other across the restaurant which really caused such a din. The food itself was just bleh. I got a noodle soup which was a bowl of clear broth with a pile of mushy tasteless noodles and nothing else. It was so disappointing - how could that even be a dish on the menu of a restaurant?! I love this place. Great services. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great price. A hidden gem! I wasn't so sure about their dolsot bimbimbap as I have tried it in many other places. I went to Han Kang by recommendation from on of my Korean colleague. She told me that it was one of the best Korean restaurants in London. I tried the chapche, Korean pancake, bimbimpa, and samgyetang. I was not very impressed. The food was good but not the best. And it was quite expensive too; expect to pay about £30 to £40 per person for a normal dinner. The portion is quite small, my boyfriend was complaining about not feeling full the whole time. The interior is quite ordinary and the service is normal I doubt that I will be returning to this place anything soon. read more

Good service, nice interior, authentic Korean food. I had the miyeokuk (seaweed soup), ddeok bo gi, and dol sot bi bim bap. All three were excellent. I would come back again to share with friends or just enjoy some good authentic Korean cooking. read more

Most of the food were between a decent to good level but the service was slow, although that is expected from most Asian restaurants in London. We paid £18 each, between 12 of us with no alcohol was a standard value compared to other Korean restaurants in London. Do bear in mind that the whole karaoke system is in Korean language only so don't waste your time to book the karaoke room unless you understand the language. read more

Went to this place for lunch for hubby's birthday last week. The food was really good, we just got a selection between us to sample as it was our first Korean dining experience. Restaurant is nice enough, staff were very sweet and attentive. I would mention we were hoping to BBQ meat at our table for the novelty factor so deliberately ordered from the BBQ menu, only for a cooked dish to appear (despite the waitress checking with her colleague that the table BBQ would be working) so this was a shame but didn't detract from the meal- its just worth being more vocal about it if you want to use it. All in all a great experience and very reasonably priced- we would come again! read more

Get in here as fast as you can! Never mind the restaurants of the neighborhood, if you can get a seat here (reservations help, which is a good sign), DO IT! Simply amazing authentic cuisine that nourishes the soul. We were served drinks and an amazing meal almost instantly. The service is so much above average that you will scoff other restaurants.
