We Went last night and my son ordered the lamb shank. Me and my husband both tried it and thought it was good. Approximate 3hrs later we were all throwing up and never been more sick. My daughter however had the pasta and had zero sickness. Our trip is ruined as we lay in the hotel all day sick as can be. read more

My steak was tender and flavorful, the company was good, service was excellent and the Guinness was fresh. We had a business dinner here one evening when we were staying at the Savoy hotel next door. Our group ordered several appetizers to share: ribs, scallops and pâté. The ribs had a nice glaze and the meat fell off the bones. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly with a little sear on them, but not overdone. I had the ribeye steak and garlic potatoes with a little skewer of shrimp (it was the one of evening's specials). Sadly, I did not capture a picture before those vanished. The beef was lightly seasoned and very tender. It was cooked to a nice medium and served with a sauce on the side. The shrimp were nothing special, aside from being cooked well. I don't get that excited about shrimp, though. There were several ribeyes that evening and I believe all plates were cleaned. Despite being a large group (8 people), our plates were cleared promptly, our drinks refilled, and we never felt rushed or ignored. I would come back. Arrived at this restaurant this evening Wednesday January 15th, 2020 at 7:30pm. Asked the female staff member for a table for 1. "Table for 1 only". (Pet hate of mine hearing the 'Only' word when asking for a 'Table for 1'). People do sometimes through necessity, choice etc eat alone. I was on a business trip to Limerick on this particular evening. Anyhow, server looked around for a table for one. After about 30 seconds she offers me a table where no one else is seated... essentially by the bottom of the entrance stairs where people congregate while waiting for a table. Rather than sit there, I suggested I sit at the adjoining table which was slightly further from the entrance thoroughfare of waiting patrons. No she says ... Why? Oh because she would have to remove more glasses from my preferred table than the other to convert it to a 'Table for 1 "Only".' Have a good evening I said as I took my business elsewhere. It's an appalling attitude for a staff member of a restaurant to have. It's a shame my request for a certain table (slightly out of the main patron 'thoroughfare' which leads from the waiting area to the main dining area) would have caused such an inconvenience to this particular staff member. Having to move a few glasses. Perhaps a change of job is in order for this young lady. On first impressions, this restaurant does look very nice, however perhaps not for a person dining alone, you may inconvenience the staff. read more

Wandering the streets of Limerick and remembering reading on Yelp this place had decent ratings, we decided to check it out. Here is what the four of us had for dinner: - Smoked Bacon Linguini - sauce was awesome - she cleaned her plate. She ordered the appetizer portion, and it was a decent size for one person - Fork and Knife BBQ Ribs with a side of rice - he said the ribs are excellent - and the meat fell right off the bone - the appetizer portion was 6 ribs. - Hickory Bacon & Cheese Burger - he said it was good, the cheese and bacon lacked a little flavor, but overall it was good. - Peppercorn Salmon - I had the salmon, it was pretty tasty. The lemon & dill sauce was yummy. - French Onion Soup - very very good - it was a HUGE serving, but I ate it all. It's a nice enough restaurant but felt a bit dark and overrated. Food was good: we had chicken wings & duck spring rolls to start followed by duck and rib eye steak. All well cooked but just not wow. I just expected more from a restaurant located within the Savoy hotel in Limerick. read more

From the beginning to the end everything was surprisingly good! The staff very friendly. I had a broccoli cream as a starter and it was delicious! The main course was a ratatouille risotto with a stir fried cod and I have to ask to send my compliments to the chef! The dessert was a chocolate cheesecake, really good too! Savory food and upscale atmosphere in an easy to find location for a reasonable price. We told ourselfs it would just a short afternoon nap to get acclimated to the time difference after traveling from The States... four hours later we awoke to find that the majority of resturants had stopped serving food and we were starving. Thank goodness someone recommended The Hamptons to us. Although we felt slightly under dressed in jeans and sweaters, the staff didn't bat an eye and sat us right away. My husband got grilled swordfish and I got the mushroom ravioli in white sauce topping it off with two glasses of wine. Our bill was reasonable and even though we sat for awhile longer than we would normally, we didn't feel rushed. Would recommend a meal here to anyone looking for Irish hospitality, upscale ambiance, and a deverse cosmopolitan inpired menu. read more

The restaurant is very nice. The decor and ambiance are modern and elegant. Based on the appearance of the restaurant I was expecting a higher price. On the day I went there was a special of 3 courses (appetizer, main entree and desert) for 25 EUR. I had Fried Buffalo Mozzarella (it was good!), the signature dish: Grilled Sirloin (It was outstanding!) and Triple Chocolate Mousse (good but small!). Of course you can not pass having a Guinness! I've been to Hamptons Grill several times in the past 10 years and I'm always left slightly frustrated by my experience there. The food is very good which is why it's always an option but other things are just not right, mostly staff related and management related. They have too many staff and they're all getting in each other's way half of the time, you end up being served randomly by 4-5 different waiters and the first girl who took our order was very nice but 2 or 3 guys were pushy and abrupt. The manager that brought us to our table was the same, abrupt and apparently in some mad hurry somewhere. There's a sense of being stared at by the staff and the second you put your fork down or finish a drink they swoop in to take your plate or offer you another drink. It's a classic case of poor management and over staffing that creates a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Also our courses arrived way too quickly, starters arrived within 30 seconds of ordering which is weird and main course was out in less than 3 minutes after starters... again I ask what's the rush? We're out trying to enjoy the evening. We deliberately stalked the waiter for dessert and took 20 minutes and told hi to go away twice. So there you have it, a good kitchen being let down by poor front of house! read more

Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous decor. Menu had loads of interesting choices however not sure about specific dietary requirements. I had grilled hake, partner had roast duck. Both gorgeous and tasty. I was in Limerick during a recent visit to Ireland and stopped in the Savoy Hotel and went to the upstairs restaurant for lunch and it was an exceptional experience. Hamtons is one of the best restaurants in Limerick City. The food is excellent, it provides an excellent choice in its menu. It is a top class restaurant to hold a Birthday/Christening/First Holy Communion/Confirmation/Reunion/Family occasion or any special dinner. The prices cannot be beaten for such an excellent experience in any other restaurant in the city. Oh! members of staff are also very very helpful with seating arrangement/ helping one to choose meals/ wines etc., I highly recommend Hamtons because of it outstanding excellence. We found this restaurant while out walking the city of Limerick. We stopped by late afternoon to check out the menu and have a drink. The restaurant did not have a bar area, and the bar for the Hotel Savoy was not open, so they gave us a table in the restaurant to enjoy a cocktail while looking at the menu. The prix fixe menu was great and three of us in the party chose this option. They allowed the specials to be used as the entree portion of the set menu and since duck confit was offered, all three chose this. It was a fabulous choice. A group of college friends and I decided to take advantage of the Christmas break to meet and The Hamptons came highly recommended. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the place was abuzz when we arrived. The welcome and service here are truly second to none. Polished, friendly, attentive and professional. We started with a bottle of Veuve which was opened table-side with panache. One person ordered off the special Christmas menu, which was an excellent value. The rest of us chose from the a la carte menu. I ordered the house pate, which could easily compete with the best I've eaten (@ a brasserie in Annecy). I had the rack of lamb as my main course and enjoyed every flavorful ounce. Next time I go back, I will be sure to be hungry enough to order the Cote de Beouf. The wine selection was wonderful and the waiter was perfectly attentive to our needs throughout the evening. We had a wonderful night and I would have no hesitation in recommending The Hamptons. read more

We stopped at Hampton's Grill with our family of 9 while travelling through Limerick late in the evening. We didn't have a reservation, and it was busy, but they were able to squeeze us in. The service was excellent despite how busy it was. The mixed drinks were great. The food was fabulous! I had the venison tortellini and my wife had the wild mushroom ravioli which we both loved. My dad the had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. Everybody else really enjoyed their meals as well. We all loved it! We got to meet Rory Smyth, the Director, who was really kind with a good sense of humour. Overall, we loved our experience and had excellent food! Highly recommended! read more

We ate here for our Christmas party on Friday night. We booked the early bird set menu which was 28euro for 4 courses. The choice was very good. I myself had the chicken satay skewers which were lovely and the steak which was fine. A few girls had the lemon sole which they raved about. All the desserts are served in little Jam jars which was very cute and tasty. A Parisian Co-worked asked could he bring a bottle of wine from his cousin cuvee in bordeaux and this was not a problem either. We also enjoyed some rather tasty cocktails to celebrate Christmas. I have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions (midweek lunch, weekend dinner, special occasions), and the food is always amazing here. The goat cheese appetizer is my favourite, and all their meats are always cooked to perfection. The desserts and cocktails are excellent. My nephews (age 8 and 9) thought their burgers were the best they have ever tasted, and if you knew how many burgers those boys have eaten, you'd know how big a compliment that is! I brought a party of 6 to this restaurant last week, and everyone raved about how good their food was. Every server I've had was welcoming and helpful. I love the atmosphere - it's relaxing and encourages conversations. When the restaurant is not too busy, I've wound up catching up with friends there for 3+ hours, and I've never once felt rushed. Their set menu is surprisingly cheap for the quality of food you're getting (€29 for 3 courses). If you are in Limerick, this restaurant is a must! read more
