I arrived for check-in at 4 pm on a Monday and was greeted by the front desk person right away. She was very friendly and checked me in right away. She thanked me for being a diamond member and gave me my two bottled waters and a candy bar for a snack. I was assigned a room on the first floor and the room was clean and organized. It's not a new hotel, but it's in good shape and I have nothing to complain about, it's a standard Hampton Inn. The room was equipped with Satellite TV, Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker with coffee, ice bucket and cups along with a work area and internet. In the closet there was an iron and ironing board. In the bathroom there were two bars of soap, two make-up removers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash and mouthwash. Overall this is a nice hotel and I would stay here again.

King room, feels a bit dated but it's clean and I believe they are renovating.

This is a clean and friendly Hampton Inn. While my room felt a bit outdated when I first checked-in, it is clean, quiet and the bed was super comfy. They also include some really nice touches in the room including handwritten notes from the housekeeping staff and a charge station next to the bed. The room has lots of lights and outlets so charging my electronics and working at the desk or on the bed was really easy. I did see some signs that they are upgrading some of the rooms so that could only make this place better. The breakfast room is modern and spacious with lots of seating. They offer oatmeal with berries, almonds and brown sugar as well as fresh fruit, waffles, some danish, juices, coffee and tea. At check-in they have a small table in the lobby with coffee, tea, hot cocoa and yummy cookies. It's terrific to be able to grab a cup of tea before bed or just a quick cup of coffee in the morning. The fitness room is standard size but very modern. Lots of mirrors so it feels bigger than it is, includes elliptical, treadmill, bike, physio balls, jump rope, towels and filtered water. It also has a large TV on the wall along with personal size TVs on some of the equipment. The staff at the front desk is fantastic! They made 2 great dinner recommendations and were able to accommodate every question we threw at them. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to folks looking for a quiet, clean, option in Springfield.

We checked in late, room was ready! Very clean, tidy, smelled very fresh and couldn't complain! We left at 4:30 a.m. and the breakfast staff (lady, tall, slim, early 60's) was such a sweetheart when I asked for the half and half as she was prepping breakfast for when it opened later on. I had four cups of coffee to prep for my family and she did it with a smile. All coffee carafes were filled and hot when I needed it! Pool was great! Isaac had a big smile and was very welcoming at check-in. Thanks so much!

I'm so glad I did. The moment I stepped into the stylish, contemporary lobby, I felt like I'd walked into a boutique hotel in SoHo. The design is chic, modern, and full of personality. I arrived early and was pleasantly surprised to get access to my room right away -- a spacious, beautifully appointed room on the fourth floor of the hotel's main building. (Tip: there's a second building across the alley in back, so if location matters to you, be sure to ask which one you're in.) My room was terrific -- upscale furnishings, high ceilings, and a bed so comfortable I wanted to bring it home with me. Great mattress, perfect pillows -- everything you hope for in a good night's sleep. As luck would have it, the hotel was celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a lobby reception just as I was heading out to a meeting. The place had a celebratory buzz. When I returned, I made a beeline to Vantage, the rooftop bar, for an Old Fashioned. They were out of Angel's Envy (my go-to), but the bartender made a solid one with Woodford Reserve. A quick evening shower made the rooftop a bit humid, so I headed downstairs to The Order, the hotel's lobby bar -- equally impressive, with a standout liquor selection and, yes, Angel's Envy in stock. Round two. The next morning, I hit their fitness room in the back building, followed by a run through downtown. Afterward, I grabbed a surprisingly good $10 breakfast burrito from the on-site café. My only real quibble: no complimentary coffee in the lobby. For a boutique hotel of this caliber, it's a small thing that would make a big difference. Overall, Hotel Vandivort delivered style, comfort, and a memorable experience. If you're heading to Springfield and want something with personality and polish -- stay here. Highly recommended.

Rest of the adventure was downhill....... I arrived earlier than my 4pm scheduled check-in time, which for most Best Western hotels is not an issue considering my Diamond Select status (yes, I stay at Best Wester hotels quite a bit). Was told by someone at the front desk that unless I paid a $30 early check-in fee, they could not check me in, as they were very busy with cleaning......Normally, I could live with that, but then things went downhill....... Came back later and Ms. Tracy checked us in. We went to our room, and were greeted by a garden of cigarette butts outside the room. So much for the extra time that was needed for cleaning. The room was microscopic, complete with a desk chair that resembled a torture device, had burned out lightbulbs in the bathroom, a sink stopper that was simply sitting in the sink and not connected, and the hair drier was completely missing. The television was smaller than the computer monitor I am writing this review on. Ice machines were also not functional, except for one in a vending area that required a key card to gain entry. For a hotel that claims to be historic, the place has seen better days. My money will be better spent staying at a place down the street for a couple of dollars more that is actually worth the price paid.
