This was a "meh" hotel. Location was great near Montage Mountain skiing and restaurants, but the hotel very poorly run. No towels in gym or pool area, no housekeeping for a multi-day staff. No hot water on 3rd floor unless you ran shower for 15+ mins. Hotel was newer, but going downhill fast. Front desk staff seemed to struggle with basics like check in. We are frequent Marriott hotel people, this may have been the worst. read more

I stopped by the Hampton Inn to drop off my kids with their aunt and the experience was very uncomfortable. The lady at the front desk started asking us unnecessary questions, and when we walked toward the room, she actually followed us all the way there. It felt invasive and unprofessional -- there was no reason for that kind of behavior. Guests and visitors should feel safe and respected, not watched or questioned like that. Hotel is fine. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff. Overall clean rooms. The floor I was on was being renovated, so while my room appeared to be upgraded, some of the finishing touches where not complete or overlooked. Caulk around tub was sloppy, chipped paint, etc. not horrible but noticable. Bed was nice and comfy, but the pillows were too soft and mushed glat when you lay on them. First impression was a nice room though at $200 quite overpriced. That impression proved wrong once we settled in only to discover to our dismay that the toilet was so low to the ground that it took a yogi's flexibility to get seated and then get up afterwards. Worse, if you are male, avoid this inn unless you want your man bits to drown in toilet water. Whoever decided to put these toilets in the Hampton inns either knew nothing at all about men's anatomy -- or truly hated men. Never again will we stay at a Hampton Inn. read more

BED BUGS! BEWARE! I got eaten up (warning pictures added). When a call was made for a resolution we were told they would look into it. "In house Pest control" found nothing. They continued the phone call in a rude manner and claimed we were lucky I hadn't gotten charged for my service dog. I usually don't have issues at any Hampton Inn and prefer my stays here. Scranton location is unprofessional and not clean. Update as I have reached out multiple times. The GM refuses to call me back. They claimed they gave me a refund with no refund. Just called again and the women working the desk was incredibly rude and hung up on me the first call. Well let's start at the front door ..the key did not work one of the managers had to let us in the door every time we left.the video on here that shows the room inside roaches ,burnt sheets ,looks like feces ,the bathtub was gross the shower head was so low,the head bored had screws sticking out of it my husband and me hit our heads a few times!! They did have two open rooms that we saw but they did not offer us they said they were booked they also offered us half but we had to leave on New Year's Eve at 10:30 at night.. this is a disgusting place the manager before this had a way better establishment.. Let me tell you first that the staff was not warm welcoming at all. There was an older man with bald hair, heavy complexion who stood about 6'1 who we did not feel comfortable with in regards to his demeanor nor his professionalism. It look like he was going to lose his temper soon so we just got the heck out of there We checked into two rooms and the bathtubs were disgusting. The sad part is the man went up to check the room and once we got into the room it was as if he said to himself this is the best we can do instead of putting the rooms out of order. I hate to leave bad reviews I really do but I will not lie about my experience as I want others to know what to expect so time and money isn't wasted. I wouldn't stay here if you paid me too. the young woman with the pretty eyes and curly hair was helpful but I had the feeling she didn't like out-of-towners. She did nothing wrong this is just a feeling. It was my first time in NEPA. As a former hampton inn employee out two years as a front desk agent and night auditor I was appalled by the level of guest services offered. I thank them for accommodating us but the cleanliness was just not there at all. Trust me, go to the holiday inn express in Dickinson if you need a overnight stay. Good hotel located right off the freeway and only 10 min from DT Scranton and the Railroad Museum. Here's the highlights and lowlights: - Clean rooms but a bit on the smallish side - Decent price of $134/night (after taxes and fees) booked thru Southwest.com - Indoor heated pool that was clean and well-kept - Free breakfast but nothing really special except the oatmeal was decent and the sausage was pretty good. Everything else was standard and below. - Complimentary Wi-Fi that worked fairly well - Bed was absurdly hard and not great for a side sleeper; I kept waking up with my arms in pins and needles. - Workout area w/ about a half-dozen machines - Terrific, friendly service - Gave us tons of pillows without having to ask - Hotel was quiet and AC worked great Overall this would be a terrific place to stay if you could get past the rock hard beds. This place was clean but not so cheap. We paid $115 for the night, which I think is pricey considering we were just at Motel 6 and Comfort Suites in similar areas and paid less and the rooms were just as nice. A good hotel in the Scranton Area I spent two weeks in this hotel in September. The service is very good. The staff in the lobby has always been very kind and they helped me with everything I needed. There is a complimentary breakfast included and it offers a good choice of everything. The rooms are nice, enough spacious. The cleaning of the rooms could be better, but overall I had a nice time there. The swimming pool and the Jacuzzi are very nice, clean and I really enjoyed them! I recommend this place. read more

Stayed here again, no choice to cancel due to prepaid stay) and worst than the last. Used the toilet the evening of check in (#1), flushed fine. We were on the 1st floor. We wake up to use the toilet before showering (#1) again and bam, overflowing toilet. Didn't even do #2!!! Didn't flush excessive TP or any nonflushable items. Worst part, called front desk and was told maintenance doesn't come until 10am. So what do we, as the customer, supposed to door? Told her we wanted to shower, we can't take one as we have standing water in the bathroom. Nada. No response to that. Front desk lady comes to the door, hands me towels and a plunger. Pretty much fend for yourself experience. Didn't even offer to change us to a diff room so we can at least shower or use a toilet. Not one time did she even apologize in behalf of the Hilton chain. Really?? It was like a deer in the head lights not knowing how to handle a situation like this.... Never again!! It may be the cheaper option in the area but it must be true; you get what you pay for. Very highly disappointed. read more

We stopped in Scranton while on route from NC to NE and we're very happy that we stayed at the Hampton Inn Scranton at Montage Mountain. Price, staff, and facilities were top notch. Room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with extra towels and all the toiletries you would expect - shampoo, cream rinse, bath gel, body lotion, and mouth wash. We were greeted at the desk by a clerk with a happy and welcoming demeanor. We were offered bottles of water as we checked in and treated to a decent breakfast selection in the morning. The bed was comfortable. The matress was firm and pillows soft. Only complaint is that the toilet is low, thus making it more difficult to get off of it and the seat was crooked - just an alignment issue. We will use this hotel again in our travels. read more

Nice staff but there's issues with the property. My biggest complaint is the use of scented chemicals in the rooms. It's not acceptable and there's no proof it's safe. Quite the contrary. We ordered a scent free room but when we checked in the toilet was running and Joe said he couldn't fix it. A hotel without parts for a toilet? We were moved and now I just have to suffer through it. Hampton is well overpriced for their class and even Comfort Inns don't use these products. More often than not we are sorry we booked Hampton and won't be back to this one. The front desk apologized but it's not good enough. When they prepared the room for us they should have noticed the gusher in the bathroom. read more

Not much good to say about this place,unfortunately. The lobby and staff was very nice, but my room was very small, and the bed was extremely hard. The TV didn't even get the local weather. The cleaning staff must have missed the shower because of the hairs in the tub. Free breakfast though,the sausage was pretty good. Everything else was meh. I have also stayed at the Townplace Suites close to this place off of Montage Mountain Road, it was well worth the extra 5 bucks to stay there instead. read more

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Scranton, PA for two nights this month - 5/17 thru 5/18 - I was attending the "Glow In The Dark Tour" (Kanye West) at the Toyota Pavilion on the 18th and the Hampton Inn was the closet hotel to the venue...I mean, the Toyota Pavilion is literally 2 minutes (or less if you speed) away. The stay was GREAT...I stayed with my little sis in a KING-size suite which came with a sofa, desk area, and free in-room WIFI. Not to mention, the hotel has amazing mountain views. The room was spacious, clean, with plenty of big towels...and the BED...My goodness...I think the maids sprinkled crack in my sheets or something b/c I slept like a BABY both nights! Is it the padding, or is it the linen? Not sure, I just know the bed was comfortable as hell - especially after coming from a concert in which I stood the ENTIRE time...yes the Kanye West concert was just THAT GOOD! The hotel's only downfall? There's no room service. After the show we were super hungry - it was midnight and since we aren't locals I didn't want to drive the streets looking for a McDonald's for fear of getting lost...the only open place was the Waffle House down the street. It was good, but room service would have been better. I just wanted to get back to the room and sleep b/c I had a 4-hour drive back to Maryland the next morning a head of me! All in all, if I am ever in Scranton, PA again for a concert at the Toyota Pavilion and need a place to crash... Hampton Inn is where I'm staying (again)! read more

Magical Weekend My weekend plans had me visiting the Houdini Museum in Scranton Pennsylvania. Choosing the Scranton Hampton Inn seemed like a good choice as it was only minutes from the museum. I had a long drive to get to the hotel so I was looking forward to a relaxing evening. Check-in was a breeze, I used digital check-in the night before my trip. When I got to the front desk I was greeted with a smile and a cheery hello. My key card was already for me and I got the brief orientation from the desk attendant and I was off to my room. My chosen room, a single king bed with whirlpool tub, was waiting for me. Entering my room was what I have come to expect from Hampton Inn hospitality. My room was inviting and at a comfortable temperature. The bathroom was clean with a collection of fresh towels as well as a selection of hair and body products. The whirlpool tub located in the main room also had its own fresh towels. For some relaxing ambiance, there was a gas fireplace located in the main room as well. Also available was a flat screen television with access to local programing. A mini fridge, coffee maker and a microwave oven rounded out the rooms amenities. When I am away I like to keep in touch with my friends via Skype, this means I need a good connection to the internet. Hampton Inn Scranton offers complimentary internet via Wi-Fi as well as a premium upgrade. I chose to order the premium upgrade, which allowed me to connect three devices. I had no problems with the upgrade connection and enjoyed conversations with my friends as well as great streaming video. The view from my room was not the best. I had a room on the back side of the hotel, overlooking the parking lot as well as a brick oven pizza restaurant and pub. This was backdropped by tree covered mountain. Sleeping was easy. A comfortable bed and a quiet room, no outside sounds crept In overnight. The room darkening shades were also great. At night, they kept out the lights from the restaurant and parking lot and in the morning very little sun light got into the room allowing me to sleep in. Morning brings the complimentary breakfast buffet. My choices for the first morning were the cheese omelet with a bagel and cream cheese. Breakfast is self serve, there is a toaster for the bagels as well a selection of breads and English muffins. The omelets as well as other hot breakfast items are in buffet style serving dishes. Oatmeal and cold cereals are also available as well as fresh muffins and pastries. The Inn has a 24 hour hot beverage bar that has a selection of coffees and hot water for making teas or cocoas. As well as all the addons for your coffee that you may want. Off for my magical adventure for the day. I had a great time. I returned to the Inn late afternoon. Entering my room was pretty much the same as my arrival the night before. Housekeeping had been through the room and replaced any items that I had used as well as putting in fresh towels. The bed was made up and ready for another restful evening. Check out was as easy as checking in. A quick visit to the front desk to turn in my key cards, a printed receipt and a thank you for the wonderful stay and I was on the road for my long ride home, feeling refreshed and relaxed. Stayed here for two lovely nights, the staff was awesome and the check in/check out process was super simple and fast. The hotel was fairly modern looking and very clean in all areas. The pool was large and open until 12pm, after 10pm it was pretty free of kids, which is nice. Wireless was fast and free, breakfast was also fast and free. read more

I stayed at this Hampton weekly for several months while running a construction project nearby. The hotel is just off I-81 and right by Montage Mountain and the Scranton Yankees Stadium. The hotel rooms were always very clean and well kept and the staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was fairly standard but the quality was ok. All together it was a good hotel experience and I'd definitely make sure to stay there if I was in the area again. read more

We stayed here last weekend because we went snow tubing at Montage. Great hotel, convenient to the highway and Montage Mountain. I loved that their pool was indoor, many Hampton Inns I've stayed in only had an outdoor pool. Room was very clean. There were yummy cookies for free at the check in desk. There was a man working there (and I wish I'd gotten his name) who was sooo sweet and helpful the whole time. He gave my kids fresh hot chocolate chip cookies and milk, and later ended up bringing more towels to the pool area for everyone. If we ever go back to Montage, we will definitely stay here again!! read more

We vacationed for two weeks in the Hudson River Valley and spent our last night at Scranton's Hampton Inn At Montage, because it was near the Scranton airport, where we had to board a flight at six AM. (Why Scranton rather than Albany or NYC, both near the Hudson? Because you can rent a car for $200 less a week in PA than you can in NY and, as we were staying in Poughkeepsie, NY, we added only an hour to our commute and avoided NY's North-South toll roads.) We stayed at a Hampton Inn in Poughkeepsie, too, and, although Scranton's standard room cost more than our suite in Poughkeepsie -- presumably because it's near the Montage Mountain ski resort -- Scranton nevertheless suffered by comparison. (Skiers, beware: we could see the nearby ski runs on the "mountain." It's a hill. On the east coast, they make mountains out of them.) This is an older property and we were greeted on check-in by an older woman who was unfriendly, mistake-prone and defensive. When asked to recommend a restaurant, she did, but later denied that she had recommended it, claiming that she had only mentioned it. She corrected our rate for the AAA discount, but we had to have it corrected again -- by a helpful night clerk -- at four AM the following morning. The elevator stank of some powerful cleaning solution and the hallway rugs wanted replacement. However, the standard room was clean and comfortable, and it featured two sinks as well as two bed lamps. Lighting was adequate; mirrors were plentiful. I was up in Scranton very late for work and needed a place to stay because of being 3 hours away from home. They held a room for me when I called and were so courteous over the phone and in person once I arrived. The room was clean, the bed was VERY comfortable, the AC actually worked, the gym is open 6am-midnight, and the continental breakfast was actually great as far as free food goes. I left feeling well-rested and energized. This isn't a 5-star resort. But for the price, and for northeast PA, it's fantastic. Would DEFINITELY recommend for a place to stay. read more

Pool is nice. In room jacuzzi is nice. Coffee and cookies are nice. Lumpy old worn out mattress not so nice. The thing is so worn out we could only sleep backwards because the foot of the bed is not nearly as worn out as the head of the bed. We used three pillows to try and prop ourselves up and still managed to sink into the mattress. My back is killing me already. Buy some new mattresses please!!! Edit. After struggling to fall asleep and finally passing out at midnight I woke up at three in the morning. Let's just say they had an off night Check In We stood three guest deep waiting to check in about 10 pm while a coworker put her take-out dinner order in by phone right in front of us. Fun Then the key machine refused to work-the poor roving doc behind us looked like he was going to keel over right in front of us--so we hustled the 'manager' into the elevator with a master key so we could all get in our rooms for a short nights sleep Room Nicely appointed with an in-room fridge but UGH the bathroom really smelled strongly of mold. Sure enough this morning when I pulled the shower curtain back--big black streaks of black crud. Eco-friendly? I think they must be experimenting with some Eco-friendly products but honestly the paper coffee cup literally wilted with the heat/weight of the hot beverage. Boo I love the Hampton Inn product and am gaining on my Hilton Honors Gold status so I'm generally undaunted by the chain but disappointed in this property read more

We stayed here 9/3 - 9/4/09 for the Crue Fest at Toyota Pavillion. We'd never been there before and from what I read, this would be the closest place to the venue. Everything was great. Room was clean and cozy, with a couch and a desk area. The bed was so comfy we discussed trying to sneak it out into our truck. They have a nice breakfast selection and coffee 24/7. Minor complaints: I wish they had rooms with balconies or windows that would open. I was dying for some fresh mountain air! Also, I kind of figured that since they were the closest hotel to the pavillion that they'd offer some sort of shuttle service. They do have one for the airport. It was no big deal, though. We called down to the lobby and they gave us a # for a cab, which worked out fine - and was much better than sitting in traffic on the mountain! All in all, we'll defintitely stay here again for any concert. read more

Enjoyed a night's stay in this hotel on the way to visit family in upstate NY. The hotel was conveniently located from I 81, although we did initially miss the road to the entrance due to a slightly odd configuration at the intersection. The main areas have been nicely updated and seemed clean and well maintained. I did note that during out stay, the laundry room was out of service, but this was not a concern to us and is probably not a huge issue for most travelers, and probably a limited incident. The only minor inconvenience we noted was that there was only one ice machine in the main floor, and that was a bit of an annoyance when going to get ice at 11pm for a cold glass of water, but not something worth getting worked up over. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, with a pullout sofa bed (for the little ones) and a very comfortable king bed. The free breakfast buffet was better than most, with hot and cold selections, and a nice assortment of hot teas and hot chocolate in addition to the standard coffee or juice. My children enjoyed the pool area, with hot tub, and my wife enjoyed the comfortable sofas around the pool where she could join us and observe the fun while sitting comfortably with the littlest one who did not want to get in the pool. All in all, we experienced great service and good value for the night's stay. read more

Rooms are nice when you arrive. But we stayed two nights and housekeeping didn't bother to make our room up after the first night. Rooms have big windows that shades only cover 25% of lots of light comes in the room. We stayed in January but had to crank the a/c as room was very warm at night. My family and I recently stayed here for my cousins wedding. We had a horrible stay. The first two rooms they gave us had a broken bed, our room was never cleaned, towels were never replaced, beds were never made and the rooms are extremely humid. I'd stay elsewhere! read more
